Re: PGAL Check In 1/30

  • 1. How far along are you? 34 weeks 6 days

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Had my 35 week appointment today- all looked fine, will go next at 37 weeks where I will be going to the OB weekly from there. Will get Group B strep test and try and confirm her position but they are pretty sure she is head down right now.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I have my work shower on Wednesday and then just need to get a few more things, pack my hospital bag and then I'm ready for baby girl to be here! I am so excited but nervous and anxious at the same time.

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrives? I am looking forward to Valentines Day, DH and I are going to see Fifty Shades Darker and go to a really nice restaurant- want to try and get as much romance in as possible before the craziness of having a baby starts!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Baby turning around before my next US on Thursday. She decided to go breach this week (I can tell because of where her hiccups are located) and I am really hoping she turns back around soon!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I reconnected with the PGAL message board. I had to take an emotional hiatus for awhile because the PGAL brain was making me worry too much... but it's nice to be back - those ladies are so supportive and kind.

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrivesWhy did I set up a registry just to have everyone buy us stuffed animals and newborn baby clothes (neither of which is on our registry)? I think I'm just slightly frustrated because we are kinda minimalists who don't like a lot of "extras" and yet we have an entire shelf of stuffed animals now. Although I would honestly prefer diaper rash cream or breast milk storage bags, I would never let anyone who gave us these stuffed animals know that I'm frustrated - nothing but gratitude for any love they want to show my LO. All that being said, there's still a ton of stuff I need to buy/set up to get ready. I've never had a shower before (all my family is out of state), so I was so honored to find out they are throwing me a work shower next week! How incredibly kind and generous! So I'll probably wait until after my shower to do any shopping just in case :)
  • @Spartanrd4 my DH and I are also starting to have that mindset - to do some things now with each other that we won't have much time for after baby is here. We made a small bucket list actually - go to the movie theater, eat at a nice restaurant, etc. It's been so much fun to work through the list - especially because neither of us is particularly "romantic" in nature.
  • @JustAnotherUsername16 A lot of people went off registry at my shower too- got a lot of clothes and other things that I didn't register for but for the most part liked everything that I didn't feel like I needed to take anything back. I felt a little frustrated at first but in the end I had to just be happy that people were there and showing so much love for the baby. I get it they can't help but want to buy clothes and the cute stuff and not breast pump supplies and things I REALLY need!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? My appointment today starts my weekly appointments. I'm thinking weekly check-ins with the doctor will be super calming and helpful for me as the PGAL brain still sneaks in occasionally.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: DH and I were so blessed to have two showers this weekend. His family threw one for us, and so did his school faculty. Both were wonderful.

On a less wonderful note, has anyone else had trouble with the Target registry app? We have gotten duplicates of many things (including three diaper genies at one shower) that just never got checked off the list. We've had people buying things from several locations and from different states so I don't know if the system just isn't processing purchases quickly enough or what. But I feel bad returning so many things

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrives? I feel like there are so many things that need to get done. We are having the nursery re-carpeted and the installer is finally coming this week. After that we will finally be able to get the crib and dresser moved in and put away the mountains of clothes and diapers that are piled up in our spare room right now; that will make me feel a lot better.

@JustAnotherUsername16 We got a lot of things off registry too. In their defense, our registry wasn't that big because we just didn't know what to ask for and what all we needed.

  • Thanks @liepertsm and @Spartanrd4. Usually, I don't mind off-registry gifts because I genuinely appreciate personal gifts - the "I thought of you when I saw this" type of gifts. For that reason, I was fine not making a registry at all but my MIL insisted I just HAD to set one up because no one would know what we needed, so I did. Then, she gave us a giant bag full of stuffed animals as a gift instead of anything that we needed which was frustrating for me because the whole reason I went through the process of setting this up to begin with was for her! So this is possibly MIL frustration more than anything. But like I said... at the end of the day I have nothing but gratitude for any love that people want to show our LO.
  • Hi mamas! Sorry its been a while since checking in. Having children has made me despise the cold weather. my 16 mo has had two bouts of the terrible stomach virus thats been going around and now has a double ear infection! Poor baby

Spartanrd4 That's awesome you had a work shower! I was the only woman on my team. Every time one of their wives had a baby I organized putting a basket together small cake etc but ofc when I get pregnant... none of them manage anything. My feelings were hurt at first but then thought about it more and remembered they are a bunch of nerds who dont do social considerations very well hahaha

@JustAnotherUsername16  sorry to hear your little lady is breech too!! Super impressed you can tell where she is at. Im terrible at that. Can never tell if Im feeling head or butt lol And stuffed animals - BLEH. People just want to buy soft cute things without thinking about what a pain they are!! I hope that you enjoy your work shower though! Hopefully less stuffed animals but don't hold your breath! ;-)

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to?
I have decided on a home birth which I am so very excited about! So the midwife that we have hired is coming over tomorrow for our first official appointment.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:

This little lady is still breech. Im not quite concerned  yet but I know thats just around the corner. I've got good fluid and shes moving like a mad woman so I'm hopeful but prepared to go to a chiro, acu, spinning babies etc.

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrives?

Nesting hormones have taken over our life. This whole pregnancy I wasnt going to have a nursery for DD bc DS didnt sleep in his own room until 6-9 months. Buuut les than 2 weeks ago I decided she needed a nursery lol. All I really need is a glider and a rug (using DS's crib and already have a great dresser in the room) and want to get a few things for the wall but cant decide on a theme.
  • @vino831 A couple mom friends of mine SWEAR by a bag of frozen peas or ice packs on the top of their stomach to help LO turn - apparently, they try to get their head away from the cold. I'm probably going to try it this weekend if she hasn't flipped by then. Also, I am terrible at determining where she is as well - only the hiccups give away the general location of her head for me. Everything else is a huge guessing game haha! I am jealous of all those women who are "in tune" with the body and LO and can tell their position all the time.

  • 1. How far along are you? 32 weeks 5 days!!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? I think I'm just looking forward to relaxing as much as I can before baby is here.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Last week I had two days of headaches with blurry vision so I went into labor and delivery. They monitored me for a bit and everything was fine. I has a history of migraines so they think it was related to that. It was actually very relaxing for me to be in the hospital and hooked up to the monitors listening to his heartbeat. My blood pressure was the lowest that it's been in months!

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrives?  I have a couple items left that I want to buy. I think other than that I'll just be buying things as  need them. I had my baby shower this weekend and it was awesome! It really felt overwhelming and I still am recovering from it but it was amazing to see how loved little one and I am.

I think the only thing that is left is taking classes (CPR, childbirth) and taking the hospital tour although I already saw some of it since I was there last week! Need to pack that hospital bag!!!

  • 1. How far along are you? 35+4

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Appt on 2/1 growth scan and after 2/9 when I'm 37 wks I'm going to start trying out natural induction methods. Baby girl is seriously hurting me to the point where I have cried myself to sleep. If that doesn't work, c-section still scheduled for 2/23

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I got some really good deals on baby clothes this past week. Excited about my maternity leave because I'm going to be focusing on my business again. I had went back to working a regular job because of the stress of owning my own business may have been part of my stillbirth (I'll never know but I tried to eliminate my stress) I was also super bored this weekend and ended up taking some self maternity "rainbow baby" photos and I think it ended up kinda professional looking. I included it so sorry in advance for mamas who hate bare bellies.

    4. GTKY: Anything you want to do or need to do before baby arrives? I'm done! Yay!!!
  • @Spartanrd4 I'm going to see 50 shades darker also!

@JustAnotherUsername16 I also got a lot of stuff not on my registry but I have 3 other friends who are also pregnant and due in a couple of months so I'm just going to regift some. They are actually nice things so saves me money and time. I have no shame lol
  • @mcdonald-bailey That's a super classy bare belly - great photo!! I'm also impressed that you took your own maternity shots!
  • @mcdonald-bailey that bare bump doesn't irk me at all.  I love it!  I want a cute rainbow bump pic now!
