Losing mucus plug at 23 weeks?

I went to the bathroom last night around ten (pee) and wiped and there was blood. About the size of a half dollar and mixed in with (tmi) like the cervical mucus...exactly what I remember my mucus plug to look like with my two prior pregnancies.

I havent had sex in god knows how long, and it's definitely not from hemorrhoids. I called the OB this morning and she said as long as I haven't had any more bleeding (I haven't) and that I'm feeling the baby move (I am), that I could go in for an emergency ultrasound tomorrow morning for piece of mind.

Has anyone else ever gone through this before? This is new territory for me.

This happened to me at 14 weeks and I was panicking. My doctor gave the same advice as you. From what I read it looks like the mucous plug can regenerate and you lose pieces of it during pregnancy as part of a "body maintenance" type thing.

Hopefully it will regrow. I lost mine 4x with my first child and had to be induced at 9 days after my due date.

I lost part of my mucous plug around 13 weeks and I absolutely panicked. My doctor told me that it will naturally regenerate itself during pregnancy and that it isn't uncommon to lose part of it from time to time. Apparently it's no big deal unless you start bleeding heavily or having contractions. Obviously if you start to have a lot of bleeding and/or contractions you need to go to the hospital or, at the very least, call your doctor.

Glad your OB is offering to seE you and hopefully everything checks out just fine!

I actually lost mine twice during DS pregnancy (29 weeks and 34 weeks). That pregnancy was very complicated though so who knows if I would have lost it if it were uncomplicated.

Either way, my perinatologist always told me not to worry and that it will (likely) regerate itself. It must have, as we made it to 37 weeks.

I was seen today and my cervix was still long and closed on the ultrasound. The placenta was high and they also did a cervical check. They couldn't really pinpoint where the bleeding was coming from, but all looked good. She is breech though, which could explain all of the hip pain/pressure I've been feeling.

Lurking.
I lost mine at 25 weeks and was also having bleeding. The doctor saw me and I specifically asked everything I should be looking for that would warrant heading to labor and delivery. She also double checked that I wasn't dialating as that can cause the loss of the plug.
