  • I had an appointment this morning with my midwife.. I fainted in her office. Thank God she has a couch in there. Then I started crying because I was embarrassed then I was even more embarrassed for crying. I couldn't even control myself, after all was said and done I wanted to laugh at myself for reacting so crazy... Hormones! She was really concerned and my BP went up high then came back down within 5 minutes so now we're keeping an eye on that. She wants me on sick leave effective no later than the 30th (which is the exact day my boss comes back from Mexico and were a staff of 5 total) because of my past pregnancy issues with high BP needing meds.

She felt baby and baby seems to be head down! I also asked if baby happens to turn and be breech if there's still a chance at a vaginal delivery and she said no. They will not support it at our hospital. Anyone else get different response to delivering breech?
  • @Burrberrymum I have fainted a few times in the past month too. For me it seems to always be overheating/not eating enough. Guess midwives office is the best place for it!  My midwife wasn't concerned other than to say lay down so you don't fall and just said to make sure I eat more and stay really hydrated because it's probably blood sugar dipping-and it's mostly helped me to dress in über layers-so when I'm inside I can basically be in summer clothes.

You're about 32wks, right? I wouldn't be concerned about baby flipping back up. ((Not that it's impossible)) but I'd say it's pretty safe to assume you'll have a head down baby from here on out!
  • @kjd291 I think it was both of those things. It was warm in her office and I was wearing a thick knit sweater, and I barely ate anything trying to get DD to daycare this morning then straight to the appointment. She was mostly concerned because my BP spiked. She took some blood to check my iron again since it was pretty low last time so we'll see how that is. I used to faint pre pregnancy but haven't in years so it was scary to deal with again.
  • @Burrberrymum I'm a fainter pre-preggo too! Ugh. Sorry youre having to deal with it also.  Definitely reccomend focusing on prioritizing food / carrying some with you. And starting to avoid the warm sweaters.
  • I'll be 34 weeks on Wednesday and I now see both of my doctors once a week...perinatal doctor on Mondays and OB on Thursdays.  Today was the perinatal and it was a different doctor than we've been seeing (our doctor is only in the office on Wednesdays).  I wasn't a fan of this guy...he was in and out in about 3 minutes and just wasn't very personable.  We'll see a different guy next week and the sonographer said we would "love him" so we'll see.  Baby is looking healthy!

Downside is last week I had to redo my 3 hour glucose test and, according to my OB, I "bombed it" so now I get to change my diet and check my blood sugar 4 times a day.  Supposed to go to an educational class at the hospital Friday to learn how to manage it...the plus side is I only have 6 weeks max to go before baby arrives so hopefully it won't be too bad.

  • @ngcsugirl1112 ahhhhhh sorry to hear you bombed your 3 hour.  There's some pretty decent meal plans out there that do make it a little easier to deal with. 6 weeks! You got this!
  • @ngcsugirl1112 - I had to amend my diet too because I "flunked" the 3 hour test, so I feel your pain.  It hasn't been too bad, but you do have to limit your carbs.  For me that was/is difficult.  But I have found a couple of good recipes/snacks/ideas that have been pretty good.  so if you need any ideas, let me know :)

  • That would be great @mecoats!  I think the carbs will be hard for me, too.  I have my class on Friday and picked up my supplies today.  Made chili tonight and added a few multi grain Tostitos with it.  DH has already hit Google and is being supportive...it sucks because I have another baby shower this weekend :P

I feel totally comfortable delivering Frank breech, but only if my attending is. Its just not something everyone is trained to do anymore unfortunately :(

  • @longliveregina I would have been comfortable with that too but my midwife said there's likely no one in a 3 hour radius that would approve of it. Shes not opposed but it goes against hospital policy that she has rights at I guess. Baby seems to be head down anyways so ill just have to put the info to the back of my mind for now.
  • Had my 34 week appointment today, went really smoothly. Got my TDAP shot and she checked and said baby is head down  Crazy that my next appointment is in two weeks, and then I see the doc every week until LO is here!

DH has been supportive on my end too!

    here are some ideas:
Breakfast - on the weekends I usually make a batch of frittata muffins....so eggs with whatever you want mixed in with it.  so far I've done ham and turkey sausage, with cheese in both.  They were great!  I usually have 2 of those muffins because each muffin is about 1/2 an egg, plus 1/2 a light english muffin.

Dinners - I found a recipe for stuffed chicken parmesan meatloaf.  It sounds pretty gross, but it turned out really good!! (https://peaceloveandlowcarb.com/stuffed-chicken-parmesan-meatloaf-low-carb-gluten-free/)

Multigrain tortilla chips are great, and you can have 1/4 cup of salsa with them!  Salsa's not that high in carbs, so this is a freebie!
Veggie chips and dip is a good alternative if you like chips and dip like I do :)

For lunch - I usually have sandwich thin with ham or peanut butter, veggie chips, and then (this is going to sound gross) cottage cheese mixed with sugar free jello.  I like to have something sweet at the end, so that's usually the last thing I eat for lunch.

If I find anything else I'll be sure to share :)  Good luck!!

OH - and I had my shower last weekend, and my numbers were good!  you can eat (trust me I did!), but watch how much you're eating.  I had 2 mini ham & cheese sandwiches, chips & dip, and fruit, and my number was 108.  Then I had a piece of cake as celebration!  ha ha

Sorry ladies for the long post :)

  • Had an appt today with a midwife; not from my 'team' though (read: I see 2 midwives who alternate every other week), the one I was supposed to see was out delivering a baby. So this midwife I had never met before..was the sweetest, kindest woman! who makes me so glad that I ended up at this office at 17weeks after deciding I didn't want to go with an OB. I love all of the midwives! My blood pressure, urine, weight and everything was great, and baby is still head down (fist pump!) Nothing exciting to report really, but it just did wonders for my mental health to feel supported and cared about by this woman who I had only just met and took the time to answer my questions.  <3
  • @MrsFlemingo so glad you had a good appointment! A caring provider and one good interaction can make all the difference in your confidence in their practice and your pregnancy and delivery! Glad you know you made the right choice in switching!
  • @longliveregina so glad you had a good scan!   FX for no pre-e this time around!!

  • Had an appointment with my OB this morning...we did my first non stress test and baby was good...he didn't like the monitors strapped to my belly and kept pushing at them...the look on DH's face was priceless!  Blood pressure was good (128/84) and my 24 hour urine collection numbers came back good...they were actually lower than the very first one we did to find my baseline.  I did have some ketones in my urine dip today so doctor told me to eat more protein.

Tomorrow I go for my GD education class.  Thanks for all the recommendations, @mecoats!  Sadly I'm not a fan of eggs (except in a quiche) so I need to ask for some alternatives for breakfast.

  • @longliveregina So funny you call out the giant nose--your baby's profile looks like ours, and I've also been making nose jokes. I have no idea where a big nose would even come from on this baby, but I'm expecting like pinocchio levels of schnoz based on the pics so far.

  • @ngcsugirl1112 - you could maybe make a quiche like breakfast on the weekend and heat it up during the week?  Maybe an alternative.

I was struggling for breakfast too.  I want breakfast cereal sooooo badly, but can't have milk or that many carbs.  I'm sure the dietitian can give you other breakfast options.  Good luck :)

  • Just had my appointment today 31 weeks and 2 days my blood pressure was up (it's been creeping up throughout pregnancy) 140/90 today but the doctor wasn't concerned chalked it up to stress. I lost more weight which she didn't mention but she always gets excited when I actually gain weight (as of today with the loss I've only gained 6 lbs the whole pregnancy). She also wasn't concerned with my blood sugar numbers just told me to keep tracking them and looking for trends. If any big trends happen to contact the office. We go back in 3 weeks for an ultrasound and the next appointment. I'm thrilled that despite the recent  GD diagnosis and creeping BP she's not concerned about it and thinks LO is doing great!
  • I had my 35 week appointment earlier this week (down to weeklys a week early), where I found out my OB broke his hand and won't be delivering for the next 8 weeks. I couldn't decide if I should laugh or cry.
  • I did my diabetes education class today and it was soooo informative...there is so much more that I can eat than I thought....I was actually limiting my carbs more than I should have been.  I was the only one in the class so it was good that I got a lot of time to ask questions.  I go back next Friday for a follow up so hopefully I get the hang of this soon!  (I put it here because I had an appointment and went to the hospital for it)
