  We had 1 yr pictures of DD taken outside at a local park.  She was able to play and the photographer captured her in her natural state.  Just another option if you didnt want to do the studio/solid backdrop pictures.

  I'm not too big on themed props. My siggy is one of DD's prof 1 year pics. The only props we had were a chair, rocking chair, ball and stuffed giraffe (the last 2 were only to keep DD smiling since she kept fussing).

  We went to the same photographers who covered our wedding (they also did DD's 3 month portraits).They let me bring in 4 outfits I love the "holding hands with mom & dad" shots. The "baby in a bowl" shots are also cute.

  In siggy! I went with cheapo JCP portraits since we have a photog come to our house twice a year and I did it at newborn and 6 mo. I couldn't afford another round at 12 mo plus their party.

  I'll do another more natural session when they are walking, but I kind of like the cheesy 1 year pics, actually

  So cute!! I just had a question, as DD's b-day is coming up soon

  Those of you with the balloons who had the pics taken at PI, did they have balloons there or did you have to ask for them in advance or bring them in yourselves?

  And with the smash cake, I'm assuming you bring that in yourself.. they don't mind the mess??

  I just made an appt with PI and they told me to bring in a little cake or cupcake.  Not sure about the balloons, they didn't say anything.  I think I'll bring some because they look so cute!  A friend of mine said that they put down a big white drop cloth and then they don't care about the mess from the cake.
