That three-day waiting period was no joke! I lurked A LOT, but let me know if I'm doing anything wrong! This might be long because I tend to be pretty long-winded when writing.
DH & I are 26. We started TTC as of April 1st, 2016. I had an annual exam with my new OB right around that time and told her I had just gone off of BC. My second cycle after stopping birth control (which I was on for ~7 years) got to 60 days so I called my OB. They took some blood and...
(Here's where I wanted to insert this gif...) My testosterone levels were high and I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am not overweight and I don't have excess body hair (although now I'm rethinking that and wondering if certain things are actually normal...). I didn't start my period until I was 17 and it was always irregular (though I only had it for about two years before starting BC pills).
I was on Clomid for four cycles. I ovulated on the first at day 21 (OPK & blood test confirmed) but my OB wondered if it was a fluke since it was so late. So I did one more cycle at the same dosage, and two others increasing each time until I reached max dosage. I didn't ovulate either time. I'm just about finishing my first cycle of Letrozole with no ovulation. My OB said two more cycles on Letrozole and she'll refer me to an RE.
She never mentioned temping, but since lurking, I ordered the recommended thermometer from the TTGP board and will use that next cycle.
My cycles are 35 days (I call the OB if I don't have a positive OPK by day 21, wait until day 35, POAS, and then take Provera), and when you add in the time it takes for Provera to start my period, the waiting is excruciating.
A few rants on my OB office:
The medical assistant told me they recommend digital tests (because I mentioned I hadn't been using digital) and one cycle I had NINE days of the flashing smiley, so I called and told them and the assistant relayed from the doctor that with PCOS, they don't recommend digital. That was irritating.
After lurking, I feel like maybe I should already be seeing an RE? Someone said that you can only take Clomid six times, so I'm wondering if that's the same with Letrozole... My OB never even hinted at an U/S. To me it just seems like she doesn't think I'm a priority because I'm young and I haven't been trying that long. I guess I'll wait until after these next two cycles and see if I can ovulate on a higher dose of Letrozole...if I can handle waiting that long.
I'm off to go check out some other topics now!

You know, you can make yourself crazy with this stuff - with the temping and all of that. I am an OPK and cervical mucus junkie, but I don't do anything else. Last night a friend mentioned actually feeling her cervix to see how open it was around her ovulation, and I was like: "Whoa- have I been doing it all wrong?" but I haven't... I think it's just when you want to get KU-ed so badly, you get soooo deep into this stuff. DH now thinks clearblue is a "racket", but I am probably one of their best customers.
I dunno re: your OB, but I've found that in this, as with anything, you need to manage your own healthcare. Don't be afraid to take charge and request a referral, or to shop around, and to ask your OB all your questions. I'm surprised you haven't been in for an u/s! That was like one of the first things I've done, and I've probably had 4 already, in addition to my HSG.
