Yeast infections

I know this is a gross topic, but has anyone else had a yeast infection while pregnant? I am almost 19 weeks and found out yesterday that I have one. My doctor prescribed the generic of Diflucan, which is considered Class D and should be avoided while pregnant. I took it since my OB prescribed it and knows how paranoid I am about taking anything while pregnant, but was just wondering if anyone else has taken it and had good luck. A lot of the research I found states that there is an elevated risk of loss and also of the baby developing 2 rare heart defects. However, one of the articles I read said that both are still considered rare events at this point, so it's "ok" to use when the benefits outweigh the potential risk. I go back and forth about how I feel about taking it, but cannot stop worrying and wondering if this will have an adverse effect on my baby. And my next appointment isn't for 4 weeks, so it has me completely terrified that something will happen between now and then

I had one in first trimester and my OB is against Diflucan during pregnancy. I was told to do the 7 day monistat. It doesn't work nearly as fast but it did solve the problem.

I had one. Prescribed terconazole 3 day cream.

I also was told to do the 7 day but I only did 5 of the days. Oops.

If I were you, I'd just go for the creams that are safer. I've had many yeast infections and diflucan works, but not for bad infections. I've needed several doses in the past.

Thank you all for the responses. I definitely will not be taking Diflucan again if I have another one or if this one doesn't go away. I wish I would have done more research before I took it. If I have known, I would have asked my doctor for a different option.

I also recently had one and was prescribed a one-day suppository but I can't remember the name. I asked about an oral option and was told diflucan is advised against during pregnancy. If your OB wasn't comfortable with you taking it, I highly doubt they would have prescribed it but if you're super worried it doesn't hurt to give them a call.

Just reiterating what the previous posters said, I had one a few weeks ago and I was told to do the 7 day monistat, which was unpleasant but it got the job done.

I wonder why the ob prescribed it if so many are against using it at all? That would make me a little nervous. I would bring it up at your next appointment to get your doctor's phylosophy on medical research and prescription drugs. There might be another time where it might be appropriate to ask for alternatives to drugs that carry medical baggage.

I am definitely going to ask her at my next appointment. She did mention that since I was in the second trimester it was safe to take, but that conflicts with everything I've read about the drug. If I have any other issues, I will definitely be researching them first and demanding an alternative treatment. I do not even take Tylenol for headaches when pregnant, so it really bothers me to know that I was prescribed (and took) something that could be potentially harmful.
