So far my weight gain is exactly in the middle of the healthy range for how far I am and prepregnancy weight, which I feel great about bc I was terrified at the beginning.
Going for my second GD test this week, had an early one that came back clear. Real nervous for this test bc since then my mom got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and she's the 4th person on my mom's side to be diagnosed. My ob thinks I'll be under on this test as well, so fingers crossed!!
Feeling a little wider despite the fact that the scale hasn't moved. The girls have already grown out of a few maternity tops. Decided to amp up my walking before my sweet tooth catches up with me. Definitely happy to over the half way mark.
I haven't gained any weight. So that's a win. Baby is doing great. I'm suffering with sciatica and migraines. I've scheduled my csection...so I'm officially on a countdown
I still have yet to gain weight and baby is doing good. Hopefully I'll feel him more often soon (darn anterior placenta!) I wish I had more of a bump instead of just feeling chubbier.

Great to hear you ladies are all doing so well. This is the first pregnancy that I have gained so much weight. With both boys I had so much MS I lost about 20 lbs in the first trimester and then never gained all of those 20 back. This time around I had no weight loss in the first trimester so I already feel huge. Luckily I passed the first glucose test months ago, I take it again on the 7th and am hoping all goes well then. I had GD with DS2 and it really wasn't hard to control with diet and exercise, but I'd rather not deal with it this time around.
@SparkySunDevil congrats on getting your c-section scheduled you are way ahead of the game. I hope it goes well
@mccgal I hope you pass your second GD testing. I have to take that at my next appt and am really hoping I pass too.
Wow good job mommas! I had a appt today and have gained 5# so far and Dr is happy about that. I am looking into a fun maternity gown to wear for shower and maternity pics but worried if it's worth the money or not. I'm also finding that even though pinkblush has the plus size maternity they do not cater to larger chested women very well. I was pretty excited to find some awesome nursing tank tops that fit as my already large chest has grown.
Hi Ladies! I am not doing so well on the gaining side , but I have upped my walking and really trying to manage it going forward. I have my second GD test in a few weeks. On the plus side, I do feel like I look pregnant not just fat, at least to anyone that knew me before . I am having quite a bit of lower back pain, any thoughts/recommendations on any belly bands that might work? Any out there better for plus size gals?
@SWE2 Have you tried Old Navy for plus size maternity? I ran into the reverse problem with most of there tops fitting too big in the chest area.
@rosemarylaff I found a pregnancy band/belt on amazon for about $15.00. It is not cute at all and not good for when sitting down. However I found that is worked wonder when I knew I'd be up an about for a while. I just got it on Sunday and used it thought the day every day since then and can totally notice a decrease in the back pain. It comes in 3 pieces so it is completely adjustable. For reference I'm normally a 2x and feel the band can still grow with me.
Hello all! So far all is well for me. I'm happy to say I've stayed under my starting pregnancy weight. I've started fluctuating but nothing major. like most of you I have to do the GD test again next appt (Feb. 10) and I'm really hoping to pass.
Where is everyone finding plus size maternity?! I haven't found any in-store places. I love online shopping but despise shipping fees and the potential hassle of returns.
Hey y'all! I have an appointment tomorrow so I will know more, but is anyone considered High Risk based on their weight alone? I was told at my last appointment that if I gained about 30lbs my BMI would be too high for them and I would be considered high risk which means I won't be able to deliver there and the hospital I would have to go to is over a hour away.
I in know way am planning on gaining that much more weight, the doctor acted like it would be crazy if I did gain that much more weight, but she just had to let me know. I'm super concerned about it. I swelled so much with DD and I have no idea what I weighed at the end. I know my BMI is high, this pregnancy was super not planned at all. My husband finally was going to be home for a steady bit (military) and I had a whole gym regiment and everything. I was supposed to be losing weight, not having a baby. Blah! Sorry not trying to be a Debbie downer. I love this little kid and I know he is a blessing.
@SWoodd2012 I found my maternity clothes at Target, I did have to do most of the shopping online, but they had pretty good deals with free shipping, just have to keep a look out. What I liked most was anything I bought online and I didn't like I could return in store, which for me was super nice. Good Luck! @mcvgal thanks for the tip on the belly band, I will totally check it out!
@SparkySunDevil I feel like you are speaking to me! Sciatica and migraines 3 times a week. Thought seeing a chiropractor weekly has helped with both.
Rave: I lost about 8 pounds during first trimester (eating less, bad nausea). My OB only wanted me to gain a total of 10lbs during pregnancy and as of now I'm maintaining at a loss of 6. OB is thrilled about that.
I did get diagnosed with Gestational diabetes and taking insulin to help with fasting numbers that can't be diet controlled. I can't have ice cream, pizza or doughnuts, which really sucks because ice cream was my biggest craving this pregnancy. Thankfully, once the placenta is gone, so is GD. I have a request for doughnuts to be delivered to my room after I deliver!
I have been looking at pinkblush for a dress that I can wear to the shower and for photos. But I hate that I have to pay for shipping if I want to return anything.
I love target and motherhood maternity for jeans. Those have fit the best. I'm apple shaped originally so I love I can have a smaller bottom and they fit my belly. I struggled with shirts at motherhood maternity again with the boobs they just didn't fit right and made me look huge!
I found some awesome nursing tanks on amazon. FYI they also have pinkblush. Just found that out so haven't ordered from there yet but might be free or faster shipping. I found that bravado has larger sizes. I got the biggest one and grew to a size F bust and it fits great. I also got another one from leading lady that is more flowey and very comfortable that I wear them without a bra and sleep in them.
Not great. I'm super frustrated. Basically when I found out I was pregnant I was on a no carb diet (I've been plus sized my whole life and have constantly trying to lose weight/live a healthier lifestyle. I got my dads genes unfortunately). So when they took the first initial weight I was 288, but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I started eating some carbs again so all the weight I had lost came back. At my last appointment the doctor said that if I got a BMI of 50 I wouldn't be allowed to deliver there because I would be considered high risk. Today I saw a different doctor (military) and she was not happy that I gained 3lbs since my last appointment and said overall I've gain 22lbs and that's not ok (I was 304 today) and she said that I have to stop gaining. I asked her a calorie goal and she said I should be eating 1200 plus 300 for baby so only 1500. She also said the reason I wouldn't be able to deliver at this hospital if my BMI got to 50 (currently at 45) because i'm the event that I needed a csection their OR tables can't support someone with a BMI of 50.
I get that I'm overweight. I'm not proud of it. I want to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. I cried and called my best friend after the appointment. I am just concerned that they are SO concerned about my weight. I don't have high blood pressure, GD, anything. My vitals are fantastic. I even had to check for protein again because I had pre-e last time and it was totally normal. I know that being overweight is bad during pregnancy especially but it's because it usually leads to all of these issues, but I don't have any of these issues!
Like I said in the randoms thread, I am getting a second opinion from a friend who is a OBGYN nurse and seeing what she thinks. I just am worried that 1500 calories is too low. I had to eat 1800 to keep my milk supply up with DD. Oh and the doctor said she doesn't want me actively trying to lose weight! Sigh just a crappy day. But thanks for asking @KMD1106

The bolded is a bunch of shit and is fat shaming. OR tables have absolute weight limits not BMI limits. BMI is a totally arbitrary number. For what it's worth I've never heard of an OR table with a weight limit under 400lbs. I know I already responded to your previous post but this made me mad.
@bacorrea, I'm sorry! I'd definitely get a second opinion or switch doctors. Saying the table has a BMI limit is complete crap. Also, like you said, the concern with being overweight is the stuff that you DON'T have! I'm super annoyed for you.

Thanks yall. I in know way think I'm at a healthy weight. I was just very frustrated after my appointment. And I know! The BMI think was weird. For me to have a 50 BMI is around 330lbs. A man to have a 50 BMI would be a different weight. So it seemed strange, I just wrote everything down she said though.
just reading that post made me mad. As PP mentioned there may be a weight limit but not BMI limit. At my last appointment my OB mentioned monitoring my carbs simply because it can lead to GD. I am glad you are getting second opinion. Being a military doctor, do you have any options for a more tactful doctor?
@bacorrea I am so sorry you are going through this. I also agree that your doctor is not being very nice to you. She should hear you and understand that you were leading a healthy lifestyle, doing what you can and are not some ingnorant person.
Pink Blush should have free shipping on all US orders. Expedited (3 days) is only $5. About once a month they have a 40% off sale that I wait for and their clearance is reasonable.

OK, this is total BS. I would be getting a new effing doctor.
My pre-pregnancy weight was 306lbs (my highest ever) and I'm down to 299 as of today (26 weeks). My doctor actually recommended that I maintain weight to conceive rather than lose, because obese women can have perfectly healthy pregnancies. My doctor wanted me to gain no more than 10lbs with this pregnancy and being down a few, he told me that he "loves me at this weight". My pregnancy is amazingly healthy so far. I do have GD but hormones play the biggest factor in that and it happens to women of all sizes. GD is caused by a placental hormone that blocks insulin, it can be controlled by diet but can happen to women who are 120lbs, 150lbs or 250lbs.
@bacorrea glad you got a new doctor!! I hope they are more understanding.
My bmi was 37 at my first appt and my doctor also mentioned that the hospital had policy that I would not be able to deliver there if my bmi reached 50 because of the OR beds not being wide enough. I'm 5'11" so and on track for weight gain so far so nowhere near a bmi of 50 but definitely understand how shitty it feels to hear something like that even being a possibility.
1500 calories a day does seem like not enough, I would definitely get a second opinion, and maybe ask your new doctor f they could recommend you to see a dietician just to help you get on track for maintaining your weight. I saw a dietician and she recommended that I consume 2300 calories a day but it was also paired with a GD meal plan, even though I don't have GD but because I'm at higher risk.

I have bought everything from Pink Blush. I should really invest in their company. I LOVE their clothes and they are good for post pregnancy too.
Target and Old Navy I've found don't really have plus size maternity selections, as they only go up to size 14 and XXL. Motherhood is a joke.
