This is a weekly check in for the mommies who have made it to the 3rd trimester!!! If you are in week 28 or past, feel free to join in on the weekly fun.

If you're just joining us, please post a mini synopsis in your first post with your EDD, how many beans, if you know the sex(es) and how you have been feeling in your 3rd trimester along with any appointments you may have this week or had recently.

QOTW: Knowing what you know now this far in your pregnancy, what advice would you give to a new mom who just found out she was pregnant?

If you have updated bump pics, please share! We love seeing these baby bellies!!! Or if you'd like to share a pic of your little one's nursery, feel free to share that cuteness as well!

  • I'm currently 29 wk + 6 days. This Friday I go back to the doctor for another OB appointment. Nothing new with symptoms besides being really fatigued, clumsy, forgetful, and my lower back being sore.

QOTW: I would tell a new mom that every pregnancy is different and that everyone has different symptoms. What works for one person may not work for others. And to read, "What to Expect When You're Expecting" as that is a lifesaver for not freaking out and emailing/calling the doctor with every symptom.

  • Hi ladies! I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow, next appointment is on Thursday. Ever since x-mas my baby has been getting hiccups pretty much every day, sometimes 2x day, my Ob said that was not to be concerned about, of course Dr Google says it could be a sign of fetal distress in rare cases. I'll bring it up to him again but so far I've had so many worries that I really want to trust him in this one. Other than that I'm feeling good, happy, excited and nervous! (And I cry every time I see a video that involves newborns lol)

QOTW: I would definitely recommend the snoogle body pillow to other moms to be, getting maternity pants even if you don't have a real bump, they are so comfy! And for me this forum has been a life saver and a great support system ( I will admit though, when I lurked in the non infertility boards sometimes the environment is not as awesome as here). Also be flexible, things may not go as you have always envisioned them

    Sent 8 embryos for PGS: 5 normal (3 AA, 1BA, 1BC)

    Beta 5/23/16 BFN  :(
    2nd FET 6/12/16 (1 5AA embryo)

  • @yelllow22 I've never heard of hiccups being a sign of distress, gotta love Google! Wee Boy gets them a few times a week, but my sister and I have them a lot so we joke that the poor kid is screwed for genetics on that front. Lol. And I totally agree with you about getting maternity pants early! Regular pants stated to be uncomfortable super early; I think I transitioned around week 11.

  • Hi ladies, today I am 28 weeks so officially joining you all on the 3rd tri board. My edd is 4/11 with one little boy. I have been feeling well for the most part, sciatica and hip pain occasionally but that's about it. Tomorrow is my gtt, I've had to do a 5hr glucose test in the past due to really low blood sugar levels and almost threw up from the drink so I'm hoping I can chug it down tomorrow. I'm feeling little one move around every day but I feel like not as consistent as everyone else. I'm not sure if it's because I sit in an office chair all day and little one likes to snuggle in a ball really low or what. I have an apt next week so I'll talk to my dr abt it.

Qotw: I'd tell ladies to try and just jump into everything as that was the only thing that subsided my worry. My friend is pregnant with twins and is so nervous to start a registry or anything incase of jinxing the pregnancy.
  • Welcome to all the new 3rd tri ladies! @dragonfaerie can't believe you are 39 weeks! So excited for you., you are so close!!

34 weeks has been very eventful so far. I have been having pretty bad headaches for a about a week now on and off but Saturday afternoon it got to be unbearable. I was told that severe headaches could be a sign of preeclampsia so I called the on call dr and she advised me to come into the ER. Well long story short they don't think I have pre-e, but I was admitted overnight Saturday for monitoring due to high blood pressure, dehydration and contractions. Thankfully overnight the blood pressure normalized and contractions stopped so I was able to go home Sunday afternoon but it was definitely frightening!!

On a happier note, we got our maternity photos done this weekend so that was fun!

    QOTW:
    I would say:
Enjoy every moment, try to focus on the positives and not negatives
For first tri stock up on seabands and preggie pops ;)
Do not Google every symptom, if you are worried contact your doctor
Listen to your body when it comes to eating, exercising etc. Try to do your best to be healthy, but don't be too hard on yourself. It is ok to give in to pregnancy cravings once in awhile.
Lastly, buy a pregnancy pillow early on- I swear that thing has been a lifesaver and I so wish I would have gotten it sooner. :)

  • Hello Ladies! Thi is my first week on this board.  My due date is April 9th, but dos want to do a Csection at 37 weeks (around March 20th). I'm having a boy. My main complications have been due to fibroids.  They acting all kinds of crazy.  I'm currently in the last hour of my glucose test. Friday I consult with an MFM. They will discuss my risk factors, a possible amniocentesis, and a delivery plan.

QOTW- I would tell a newly pregnant gal to find a really good doctor that she trusts. Having good docs have been a life savor for me.

  • Welcome @ale9687 and @cmm012 ! I added you above to the original post. Best of luck in your 3rd tri!

@cmm012 - Good luck at the MFM. They are being overly conservative with me as well because I was recently diagnosed with GD. Now taking insulin at night which isn't bad and my numbers are pretty good in the AM. But they want another ultrasound at 36 weeks and to deliver no later than 39 weeks due to the diagnosis. So I will be delivering around March 20th as well, even though I was originally due on March 26 (my birthday).

@chicandbubbly - How scary for you. Glad it was just dehydration and nothing worse. That happened to me on a really hot day with my first son. Think of it like a dress rehearsal without getting the baby at the end! ;) You're so close though.

Does anyone know if @LynnNJ or @vssbrm had their babies? Looks like they were due last week, but maybe I missed it.

  • I will be 29 weeks on Thursday and my GTT, blood count for anemia and repeat toxoplasmosis titers (because I stupidly poked myself with a needle that had been used on a toxo positive cat at work in November!) all came back good! My dad and stepmom also just told us they are buying our travel system/car seat/extra car base which is AWESOME! I was a little nervous, since our shower isn't until I am 34 weeks, about having it installed and checked and ready before D-day (delivery day!). A co worker recently had her baby 5 weeks early so I just want to be prepared :)

@yelllow22 I haven't heard the concern about hiccups, while I feel our little girl moving and kicking all the time I haven't identified her having the hiccups yet so I have been looking forward to it! And I am totally with you on the newborn video thing, we had our birthing class this weekend and I was tear-y with every single one thinking about the moment you get to hold your baby the first time

@chicandbubbly that sounds very frightening! I am so glad they kept you for monitoring and that all is well, but wow! If not preeclampsia did they say why they thought your blood pressure was high?

QOTW: I would definitely tell her to relax and enjoy every moment. I know our journey through IF played a role, but I was so very stressed about everything the first trimester (and first part of second) and I couldn't seem to just enjoy the fact that I was pregnant. Now that I am more relaxed and truly enjoying this pregnancy, I realize it won't be much longer!

  • @2legbaby glad to hear your blood work came back good!

Basically they thought the pain from the headache coupled with dehydration caused both the high blood pressure and the contractions. But who knows! Definitely upping my water intake though :)

  • @2legbaby She just is worried since he's been measuring big the whole time (which I take with a grain of salt anyway) and bigger babies are more likely to have complications during delivery. I get that she wants to warn me, but at this point I just kind of roll my eyes because I truly believe everything is going to be fine. I'm prepared for medical necessities, but i refuse to focus on them.

Her friend was forced into a c section bc they thought her baby was going to be over 9lb and was in the 7's. I agree to take the measurements with a grain of salt. When little on is ready he'll let you know.
  • @ale9687 Thank you! That's exactly what happened with my mom/little sis and it seems like they are often wrong with their measurements. I just think they get in a rush and worry,  and I am content to let him come in his own time.

    True and completely agree @dragonfaerie

I agree with @ale9687 My first son was 8 days late on his own accord and ended up weighing 9lb 2 oz. I swear he would have been smaller had they induced at 40 weeks and not 41 weeks. This time around they don't want me going past 39 weeks thinking this boy will be just as big. Ugh. Doctors. Hence why I now have a 36 week ultrasound to check the size of my little guy. That will finalize my absolute due date for my c-section.

  • @dragonfaerie  - Feb. 28 is my last U/S (36 weeks). The thing that bugs me is my OB doesn't think I need it because the size of my baby at my last U/S a month ago was at 34th percentile (so he's a little guy), but he says the Maternal Fetal folks are being ultra conservative to cover their butts.

Yay on the mucus plug! With my 1st DS, I thought I lost mine, but then it didn't look like what I thought so I chalked it up to discharge (TMI, I know!) So who knows if that is what it really was or not, he was still over a week late from when I thought I lost it. But it won't be much longer from here out, fingers crossed!

  • @dragonfaerie I hope this is it for you! Any day now you'll be having that little boy.
  • @ale9687 @pdbird What I read was it basically is anytime from now until potentially a week ish out after losing the plug. So I'm trying not to get too excited, but I'm definitely ready!

  • @ale9687 Welcome! I used to mainly feel kicks at night until I was almost 30 weeks when I started feeling her very consistently, everyone is different  :)

@chicandbubbly That must have been scary, I hope you continue to feel good!

@cmm012 Welcome to the 3rd trimester! Hope the glucose test went well, let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow

@2legbaby Yay for good labs! The hiccups was cute at the beginning :p  but sometimes it drives me nuts lol I have low tolerance for repetitive noises or things like that plus I kinda feel bad for my baby girl, but I know she's ok. I did ask again and was totally reassured that it's not an issue. In fact my Dr. think it's a sign of good neurological development

@dragonfaerie I would feel the same way, weight estimates are well known for being inaccurate and as long as you and baby are doing doing ok that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to induce at this point. So excited about the plug, you are definitely getting there, can't wait to hear updates!

My 34 week visit went well, measuring on track, baby is head down. Next visit we'll do the group b strep test and cervical checks will begin on week 37. I'm so excited!

@dragonfaerie - When they say mucus plug, I imagine a bottle of champagne corking! So in a way, it's your body celebrating! :) Keep up the walking, spicy food, and sex (make sure you orgasm ;)). Maybe that will help get things moving in the right direction.

FYI everyone, my LO is no longer just kicking at usual set times. It's now constant moving and gets really active around the 8 PM hour every night. Just when I thought I was forming a pattern, they throw you for a loop. It's like after they're born, about every 3 months, something will change and you have to relearn or adjust the way you're doing things with your baby. It's prep ...

  • @pdbird Haha, I didn't think about it that way, but I like it! :) DH and I will probably go get some spicy Chinese or Indian food tomorrow. That's so funny that your LO decided to change things up. They certainly keep you on your toes from the very beginning!

  • My 40 week apt is going to be with the same doc as last week, which means if Wee Boy hasn't shown by Wednesday, I'm going to have another round of "he's getting big, this could be bad, etc." I feel really good still and I'm definitely progressing, but I want him to come so I don't have to listen to her snark at me.
    How's everyone else?
