Whoops, forgot to post. Thanks @Dannylion24 for the reminder. (See--I was just complaining of pregnancy brain and here's a perfect example. I'm losing my mind. )
My heartburn is so bad. I woke up (tmi warning) last night with a mouthful of stomach acid. Fricking ew. Even though I was sleeping elevated.
I also either sleep 7 hours straight in bliss, or I sleep a couple hours at a time for a total of four. I'm sure it's only gonna get worse.
Braxton hicks are clearly recognizable now and I get them throughout the day and especially the end of the day when I've stopped drinking water to help the heartburn.
Baby is stretched out and I feel what I think is her feet under my ribs and yet also feel her super low down in my rear.
Oh and I've read this is normal so I'm not freaking out about it but sometimes my belly will twitch rapidly like a spasm for a few seconds and I don't know if it's her or the uterus but it's pretty disconcerting. I might be asking about that at my next appointment.
Lower back pain and pelvic pain are still my constant friends.
So many fun things going into the third trimester. So excited for what's to come. Haha. I will say that the majority of my congestion and bloody noses have cleared up now that we finally own a humidifier. My skin is grateful for it too.
I've been having some pretty intense dreams lately. It's gotten so bad that now I try not to watch any drama or action tv shows before bed that might spark a crazy dream. DH said it's pretty strange since a few times he's had to wake me up because I seemed so upset while I was sleeping. Hopefully this doesn't last for the next 3 months...
Oh sorry @HGRich ! Definitely was not trying to guilt trip you (I think I forgot to post the FFFC like 3 weeks in a row around the holidays) - I'm just always paranoid about where to put my posts. Probably needlessly since everyone here is so chill
Anyways, super sorry to hear about the heartburn. That was my arch nemesis with my last pregnancy ... AWFUL! I don't have too much to report at the moment except this ridiculous lower backpain that I'm pretty sure I inflicted on myself by doing too much driving over the holiday. Now every time I have to put my toddlers in the car or hoist my almost 2 year old up onto the changing table I want to cry. Praying it clears up soon and isn't just the new norm at 30+ weeks!
@hgrich, I've been feeling that weird spasming thing too! I keep telling myself to look it up which I haven't remembered to do and to ask my ob next week which I doubt my prego brain will remember! @kitkat8387, mine don't feel the same as when she gets hiccups. Her hiccups are very rythmic and this feels more like a shudder/shaking movement to me. Maybe mine is totally different than what hgrich is feeling...
@Dannylion24 no worries! I didn't take it as a guilt trip I promise.
@mylittleirvz and @kitkat8387 I don't know! In my research somebody else said it could be hiccups too, but I'm feeling that shudder that's really rapid and lasts for a few seconds. Hiccups I think I've felt too, and it's not quite the same. Somebody said if could be baby's muscles twitching just from rapid growth spurts or from being pulled out of a less comfortable position. What I thought sounded more plausible is that the uterus is shuddering from its own rapid growth and workouts from BH contractions. Don't know, but I found a lot of others with the same thing and it's apparently normal! But the lover of science and biology in me wants to know exactly what it is.
@M&Max I've been having weird dreams the entire pregnancy but they have been getting more and more intense as of late. My husband always asks me if I've had any dreams, he gets a kick out of them.
I don't know if this is considered a symptom but Bean has taken to punching me in the cervix and it freaking hurts. It's like lightning coming out of my vagina - which certainly isn't as fun as it sounds.
On top of that I have also been getting sharp cramps on my right side. They don't last very long, they come in waves and my entire belly tightens when it does. I woke up because of them this morning around 1am. I was going to call labor and delivery this morning but I haven't felt them since last night.
@HGRich I have been getting the spasms/shudders that last for a few seconds as well! I don't think I've felt hiccups yet so I can't compare to that, but I was definitely freaked out the first time I got the shaking sensation.
I have definitely had the muscle spasm thing also! It happens in different spots, so I don't have an explanation. Not many symptoms here other than I feel like its starting to get harder to do things. I was trying to clean the kitchen cupboards today (low down) and I felt like I was squishing baby by bending over so much.
Desperate for some tips and tricks for this backpain. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this! I thought I was sore from a long carride days ago, but it's not getting any better - in fact it's much much worse - so yesterday the nurse triage line at my Ob mentioned sciatica. Does anyone have experience with getting relief from this? It's getting hard to walk, use the bathroom, brush my hair. The nurse was just like, "lay on your back w your feet up and try to get the baby to move off of the nerve." Not working and I can not function like this! I'm calling the OB back as soon as they are open, but they were totally unhelpful yesterday. Is this something a chiropractor would see me for? I've never been. It feels like my entire lower back is freezing up and I go numb in my butt (sorry for the TMI). It's so painful to bend and reach. I can't do anything!
Adding; things I've tried/trying include heating pad, hot bath/shower, lots of fluids, Tylenol, stretches I found on webmd, husband massage. Nada results.
Sorry to hear you're having bad back pain @Dannylion24. The only things I can think of are a warm compress, a warm bath, legs up on the wall while you lay on your back (all of which you have already tried), or visit a chiropractor or acupuncturist. Good luck!
@Dannylion24 so sorry to hear about your backspin. I was having pretty sharp back pain that caused me to scream a little when I was bending over and had to straighten back up. I got a pregnancy pillow and that has seemed to help with aligning my hips or something.
I am suffering from indigestion i think. I basically feel like I have to burp but can't and it causes pain in my chest. It is happening daily throughout the day and it sucks!
@Dannylion24 I'm sorry your back is giving you so much trouble. I think it's worth reaching out to a chiro. At my first appointment a few weeks ago, one of the things he mentioned that pregnant women come in for is pain from the sciatic nerve. Hopefully one can get you in quick and get you some relief!
PS. One of the assistants there also told me to discontinue heat when I mentioned I was alternating between hot & cold for my hip pain (which we found was being caused by nerve pain). She said heat feels good in the moment but it causes things to swell, resulting in more pressure on the nerves which leads to the pain returning quickly. She suggested strictly icing it. Wanted to share if the heat isn't giving much relief!
@Dannylion24 and others with bad back pain... have you tired using a Maternity Support Belt? I bought one two weeks ago @ 26 weeks along and it has made my back pain so much more manageable!!! Just try it- I bought one from Amazon for $20 and it was well worth it
@Dannylion24 What kind of back pain is it? Is it sharp? Dull? Do you have any other symptoms? When I was pregnant with DS, I started having some dull lower back pain, went to the OB and she told me it's just caused by organs moving around, etc. Told me to "go home and rest." It got worse over the next few days. I started getting chills and fevers and because of this, my baby shower was THE WORST. My SIL convinced me to go to the hospital because I was in so much pain and turns out I had a bladder infection, kidney infection, and was going into labor (I was 34 weeks).
I've been sleeping terribly! I think i have a rib out. I wake up and just have to switch to the ither side. I love my pregnancy pillow but it does not make turning in bed easy! I wake up at least every two hours. I'm not sure if uts the back pain or something else.
@Dannylion24 I had some pretty awful sciatic pain during my first pregnancy and I found that walking a lot helped. Walking hurt, but then the next day I would feel a lot better.
This pregnancy I basically "threw out" my back - so a much different back pain and a few days of wearing a maternity belt that I ordered from Amazon was incredibly helpful - and I think also helped my posture. I don't know if a maternity belt would help with the sciatic pain though.
Thanks so much for the tips @BabyBlake042017@aboxofchocolates@Knottie34471835@belocin I am definitely going to watch the heating pad and I've ordered a belly band. Dr also concurred about the chiro when I talked to her earlier today so I'm trying to get in for an appointment. She also called in a script for muscle relaxers ... that should be interesting. Never taken them before I don't think!
Anyone else starting to get ridiculously warm? I have been lately. I used to sleep in sweats and under the covers, now it's next to nothing and with a fan on. Then I still wake up in the night and pull one leg out from the covers to cool down. Dresses and leggings officially feels like too many layers. Good thing it's winter and not summer!
@wagnerw yes! I am always hot and my poor husband is always freezing. I also sleep the same way you do. My husband tells me when I nap I usually pull my shirt up with my belly out. Sometimes I sit on the couch watching TV like that - I just get so hot!
@wagnerw same here. I turn the heat way down at night because I was waking up in a pool of sweat each morning. Husband is not a fan of this but I play the baby card and win.
So much for feeling good this week! All day today I have had sharp pain in my crotch... not sure what it is, but it's uncomfortable!
I also get hot at night, I sleep with both feet and one leg out and the best way down for sure. My DH is like a furnace at night so I can barely stand it if he sleeps too close to me!
Not really a pregnancy symptom (I think) but related and feel like needing to share..
I have been really unwell since the 26th of December so pretty much the whole effing month. Started with a cough and a cold, that turned into sinusitis and chest infection, I only got given antibiotics after two weeks of suffering. Just as it started to clear up, I was getting difficult BHs, and now I have two pulled muscles in my body. One in my right foot which means every step dully hurts (bearable) , but two days ago I also pulled a muscle or trapped a nerve in my hip, so literally cannot bend down and dressing up is a chore. Every step now hurts in TWO ways, and my cough is stil not gone (every time I cough, the hip nerve hurts, too). And for two days now I am feeling pressure on my bladder and baby is still kicking downwards to be cervic (but also, he is kicking less, so I am worried again). All in all, a very bad mental state and finding it difficult to shake off the feeling of constantly being beaten down by yet another different issue. Isn't it enough that I am trying to grow a baby? Give me a break
Sorry for the rant. Didn't know where else to post.
Me: 35 year old FTM, a busy city banker living in London, and a constant worrier. My DH: French guy, car fanatic, best husband ever. Our baby boy: Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks. I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!! Last measurement: 3150 gs at 37+1! This is going to be a big baby
@wagnerw I've been so hot lately too! Especially at night. I'm not even using blankets anymore and it's January. I have the heat down to 58 at night and I'm still sweating! Also very thankful it's not summer. It's a pretty useful symptom too, since none of my coats fit at the moment
I actually envy all of you that are hot. I'm naturally a cold person (which is why I could never live somewhere that actually had a real winter) and I never get the hot spell that pregnancy is supposed to bring. I sleep with the heater on, blankets on, and husband as a furnace next to me. It's currently 65 in my house and I still want to cuddle under a blanket.
@Dannylion24 I mentioned my severe back pain to my OB and she said the only thing that will really help is physical manipulation like massage or physio etc...I just booked my prenatal massage I got for Christmas but I couldn't get in until the 31st so hopefully the week goes by quickly!
Haha. I'm super hot at night too and I opened the window in the bedroom even though it's only 35 degrees outside. But I figured fresh air would help keep DH's flu away. The poor man has chills with his fever and here I am roasting and opening windows. Sorry babe. Pregnant trumps sick.
In other news, I've noticed my legs and arms getting more tingly or numb not just when I try to lay on my back for a bit to help my hip pain, but also when I lay on my right side! Does this mean I seriously won't be able to sleep except on my left side for the next three months? ugh!
@Dannylion24 I have herniated a disc twice in my life. I know sciatica more than I'd like...
The advice the nurse gave you to lie down is bad, IMO. Walking is absolutely the best thing for a sore back. I know you have a lot of kiddos so it's hard to fit in, but even a half hour every day can be a life changer. Play with which shoes help. If you don't have a foam roller, I'd suggest trying that. Rolling out your bum can help a lot. It will hurt when you do it but bring relief eventually. I'd avoid doing your back while pregnant though. At the end of the day, it's so tempting to lounge on the couch or a chair but see if sitting on a bouncy ball or even just the floor helps after a few days. Cat/cows are a great gentle stretch to do in pregnant that would offer some relief. And a chiro can absolutely get you moving more freely. There are plenty who will be used to seeing pregnant patients!
Hope you feel better soon dear. Back pain can be so debilitating...

@Dannylion24 I agree with what a few others have said. I think that moving really helps with sciatica. I had it during my last pregnancy and walking/jogging seemed to be the only thing that would help.
@smallanimal sorry you are struggling so much right now! I was very sick with my first pregnancy and ended up spending most of the 3rd trimester in and out of the hospital until I finally delivered at 37weeks. It is so difficult when you are in constant pain and discomfort yet nothing seems to help! I felt like I spent the entire last 8 weeks on my pregnancy crying- last time around. The only advice I can really give is to just rest/ love yourself/ do something to try and take your mind off the discomfort and remember that this is only temporary!!! Once that beautiful baby is born you will quickly forget about this difficult time.
#teamnosleep I woke up at 1:30 this morning and couldn't really get back to sleep, so that sucks. I'm also having lots of shoulder/mid back pain from sleeping on my side, even with my snoogle, so I'm having to turn over and sleep on my back (which I loathe) until my feet get tingly and I wake up and need to move again. I don't remember being this uncomfortable until the very end last time, so I'm bummed about another 10.5 weeks of this. Especially since I need to work right up until I have this kiddo with no breaks (unless it snows, which looks unlikely).
For those suffering with sciatic pain, what has helped me the most is walking regularly, and a warm epsom salt bath when it's feeling really stiff and sore. It was also recommended to use ice instead of heat, due to the potential for increased swelling/pain, but ice doesn't do anything for me personally.
I'm also getting hot at night...but only my feet! I was like this with DS too...I have to sleep with ice packs at the bottom of the bed.
Knottie34471835 Thank you trying. And resting a lot, that will have to help! Eventually.

@RachelGreene I'm not an OB, but the cramps and tightness sound a lot like BH to me. Especially because your whole belly tightens. Believe me, BH's can be very uncomfortable/ verging on painful, unlike what you read online. Staying hydrated and moving positions helps.
@RachelGreene, haha I almost always sleep or nap the same way with my shirt up and belly out!
Yeah, I am normally an always cold or on the cooler side person but this pregnancy has made me so HOT all the time! Even though it's winter, I am wearing short sleeves at home/work pretty much all the time and only putting on a light jacket if I go out.
