  • How are you doing with you fitness goals?
Not well. Still feeling sick and tired. I made time for yoga once this week. My eating was okay until yesterday. Ready for the second trimester energy to kick in so I can feel myself.

What have you done this week to meet your goals?
I meal plan for most of my meals (such a challenge when food is gross right now). This weekend is DH's last free weekend before baseball season (he's a coach) so we went out for pizza. I was proud of myself for not going crazy.

What gets you motivated to be healthy?
I started my health journey after my last pregnancy with the goal being to form healthy habits. I grew up with A LOT of unhealthy habits and it was starting to catch up with me. I have also observed how those habits have effected my parents health over the years. I began studying and researching more about health and wellness. For me, the more I know, the harder it will make be to continue in the bad habits I've had. My goals always used to be shallow and I never stuck with anything. I've made it a priority to teach my kids healthy habits so that *hopefully* they don't have to break them when they're adults like I am. It's been a slow journey but I want this pregnancy to be healthier than my last. That ended up a novel, sorry!

  • @lyndshurt I understand! I am trying so hard to make sure that I am able to keep my food down! I am proud of myself since I do pack/buy healthier snacks and bring them to work with me! I have not been working out tho! Boooo!

  • How are you doing with you fitness goals?
I've been trying to go to the gym once a week. It's a struggle with the nausea when I don't feel like doing much.

What have you done this week to meet your goals?
Went to the gym and rode a bike Friday. Excited to hopefully start joining in on a prenatal fitness class next week!

What gets you motivated to be healthy?
Staying healthy nutritionally is hard with DH not at all being a healthy eater- he's a meat and potatoes guy. I've done really well with the fact that not much other than fruit sounds good in the morning. I went awhile with not eating enough fruit, but I'm loving being on this fruit kick and really want to continue with it.

  • I met my goal of finished the half.  I have failed on my workouts all week since then, but I really need to get back on it next week. I'm motivated by pure vanity. I don't want to let myself go like I did with my first pregnancy and I want to bounce back quickly after I deliver.
  • Fitness goals: maintain a decent running fitness. Did the NYC marathon is november. Trying to run 3 miles a 2-3 times a week. Started it back up yesterday and all went well. Hoping to get a run in tomorrow AM and Thursday if I can.

Goal: stay in fighting shape for delivery, try to gain 25lb so I don't have a huge burden afterwards to lose. I did this twice before, not sure how it'll be with a 3rd pregnancy.
  • I don't belong to a traditional gym.  I was going to Orange Theory before I was pregnant.  Its like a step down from crossfit.  I don't want to do that level of exercise right now.  Its cold in NY so its hard for me to go out and walk at least.  I hope that in 2 more months it will be half way decent so that i can go outside and do something.
As far as eating, Ive been pretty good.  I don't think I've had this much fruit and vegetables in a long time.  It helps that meat grosses me out right now. lol

  • @Kathryn0903 I hear ya!! The nausea stinks! I'm also a fruit kick too! I can't get enough watermelon!!

    @taylormarie923 Are you a runner?

@mlygate Dang! Idk how you do it! That's so amazing though! I am hoping to gain 20# for this pregnancy!

@DDRGirlie I hope so too! My friend said that she was able to keep her weight in control by walking everyday! I am the same way! I eat fruit all the time!

  • Those of you that haven't tried a prenatal fitness class yet, just went to one tonight! Definitely a workout!

  • @Kathryn0903 sweet! So women that aren't showing can go? I wanted to try some out but didn't want to seem out of place!

  • @jpearl2307 the class description said it was for women at all stages of pregnancy, so I figured it was worth a try. I did feel a little out of place since everyone else was due in the next 2 months, but I'm going to go back for another class sometime.

I've had a bad cold and just standing feels like a workout, but I've been trying really hard to eat at least 1 veggies based meal per day. I'm looking forward to being well enough to get my sweat on! I teach dance and fitness classes, and that's where I get most of my exercise, but as the weather warms I want to get back in the habit of a daily walk. I'm motivated by vanity, yes, and that I want to be strong enough for delivery and a quick recovery.

You guys inspired me and I went to yoga tonight. I would love to run but with this cold weather I can't even take the trash out.
  • How are you doing with you fitness goals?

-Meh. I just haven't felt great. The nausea is gone, THANK GOD, but Texas weather has been stinking insane! We're in the 30's in the morning and by afternoon it's high 60's. Rain, then sunshine. Back and forth...so my allergies have been FULL FORCE since early December. I've had a sinus infection, cold, or upper respiratory infection rotating for 2 months. I'm so tired of it!

What have you done this week to meet your goals?

-I finally worked out yesterday! It felt good! Had to modify some things. I CrossFit, so I lift pretty heavy. I am still lifting fairly heavy, but WAY less than I normally would. It felt good to do moderately heavy clean & jerks yesterday. Worked up to 120# and stopped. My max is 150#, so I was well below that. Did some cardio, and just enjoyed throwing some weight around with my husband, brother and uncle. Felt "normal" for the first time in awhile!

What gets you motivated to be healthy?

-I am an independent distributor with AdvoCare, so I consider it almost a job requirement to stay fit and healthy. I have a team of almost 35 that I lead, and I'm consistently leading small groups through a 24 Day Challenge, and I don't want to tell someone to do anything that I'm not doing myself. Not only that, my husband and I lost a significant amount of weight over the last two years, and I would LOVE to not gain it all back during g pregnancy! Lol!
  • How are you doing with you fitness goals?
Still doing mostly what I would be doing if I wasn't pregnant, which is lots of running and not enough cross-training. I'm hoping once the nausea/exhaustion goes away I can at least pretend to cross-train. I have a half on 2/26, which will dictate whether I sign up for more.

What have you done this week to meet your goals?
I usually run wed/fri/sat/sun. Long run this week is 12 on Saturday. Training runs used to be around 8:50 pace for me but have declined to 9:20/9:30. I usually wake up at 4:20 to run before work/kids and that is getting more and more difficult. I love sleep more than I ever have before.

What gets you motivated to be healthy?
I just love running. It keeps me sane. I love feeling good too (in regards to eating healthy). Sugar makes me feel really sick right now. Unfortunately bagels taste really good all of a sudden.

Baby #3 on the way due 8/19/17

  • You guys are amazing! I was semi active before I got KU but all I want to do when I get home is lie in bed! I think I will go for a walk around my neighborhood later! I'm super grateful for this board, y'all get me motivated!  :)

My goals are to be healthy and get my body ready for labor! I also don't want to gain too much wt to have to work it off later! It's so hard when you want all the carbs!

  • How are you doing with you fitness goals? My goal is to just maintain my fitness as much as possible. I've been a distance runner for nearly 10 years and was always an active person growing up (hyper, fidgety, can't sit still for much longer than 1 movie type of person). I have semi-decent muscle tone and just don't want to get flabby if I can help it. Squats and lunges are my friend.

What have you done this week to meet your goals? I've been getting to the gym about 3x per week, and by necessity I walk a lot anyway. Tonight is Zumba!

What gets you motivated to be healthy? Part of it's just genetics and who I am; I can't sit still. I find working out to be stress relief and great to clear the mind. Now, with pregnancy, I'm motivated to give my baby the health benefits of a healthy mother, and labor is supposed to be a lot better when the mom is in good shape. Bouncing back to my normal self after delivery would be quite nice, as I'd rather not spend money on a new wardrobe either. Babies are expensive enough.

  • I need some help from you girls!! Three years ago, my family switched to a Whole Food Plant-Based diet(fruit, vegetables, whole grains, beans, and nuts). It was great! My husband lost a lot of weight, I was pregnant at the time and only gained 12 pounds (doctor approved, with a healthy 7 pound baby!), and my kids stopped getting sick! It was great. But slowly over the last year, we haven't been eating as healthy and now this pregnancy(my 5th) is KILLING ME and healthy eating has completely gone out the window. Anytime I eat a lot of vegetables, I get sooo sick and throw it all up. So I have been eating a lot of TERRIBLE fast food. We don't eat meat but meat is the only thing that really helps me feel better. I think I need high protein meals and snacks. Do any of you have recommendations of healthy, high protein meals that are easy to stomach at the moment?? I'm 11 weeks right now but my nausea is still getting worse, not better yet.
