Intro- Another TWIN pregnancy...

Hi there! I've been lurking about and have seen numerous twin pregnancies on this BMB, so I thought I'd jump in. Im slightly terrified, yet excited all at the same time. Anywho. My EDD is 8/30, with fraternal twins. Im AMA at 40 years old. I have DD who is 8 and a DS who is 22 months. DH is in the military and consequently gone for 6-12 months and I'm a full time practicing attorney. We live in beautiful Southern California and no longer have pets, due to DS allergies and asthma. Even though this isn't my first rodeo, I feel slightly overwhelmed with a twin pregnancy. Is anyone reading any good books specifically related that they'd like to share?

  • Hey girlie! Congratulations on everything. We moved a few years ago from SD. Military family also

  • Did that cut off? Lol
  • Totally with you on feeling a little overwhelmed! The day we found out I was carrying twins, I immediately went to Amazon and bought a few books. This is what my husband and I are reading:

What To do When You're Having Two by Natalie Diaz (I like this one so far - but it's definitely more anecdotal with tips from twin parents and less medically focused)

Dad's Guide to Twins: How to Survive the Twin Pregnancy and Prepare for Your Twins by Joe Rawlinson (hubby liked the idea of a book that doesn't assume the reader is a mom)

When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads: Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy by Dr. Barbara Luke & Tamara Eberlein (eagerly waiting for this one to be delivered - it was recommended by a friend, and supposed to be a great medically-based guide to multiple pregnancies)

My Google searching for the best twin pregnancy books turned up tons of results, but these are the ones we are starting with!
  • Congrats and welcome to the twin club!!  I'm a FTM so i'm super anxious about the whole pregnancy.  I'm a full time nurse, so i can relate to working and being on your feet all day.  But we'll get through it!!  @gwtw733 thanks for the recommendations.  I think i'm gonna get DH the dad's guide.  I can't read books like that because I'll think everything is wrong with me, so DH happily does and then proceeds to chase me around the house with glasses of milk for calcium.

  • Congrats! I second the ref for What to do when you're having two.
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • I have two already so I understand how you feel.  Do you know if your DH will be home when they will be born?

  • Congrats and welcome!  Another twin mom here also living in Southern California!  I haven't purchased any twin books, but I do plan to brush up on Tracy hogg's method. I've read some discussions on the baby whisperer forum about implementing her system with twins.  Her book saved my life the first time around, so I am hoping it will this time too.
