Nursing Covers?

Can anyone recommend a good nursing cover? I keep seeing the Milkmaids ones on facebook. https://milkmaidgoods.com/collections/frontpage

I like that they are a poncho and seem like they could cover more than others I've looked at, but I'm wondering if there's better (possibly less expensive) options.

Re: Nursing Covers?

  • I ended up preferring to use A&A blankets with a small tie in them. Multi functional and offered the most coverage

  • I also ended up preferring to use whatever blanket I had with me when out and about. And: one less thing to pack ;)
  • my son did NOT like being covered. just mentioning this to warn you it's a possibility so I wouldn't stock up or spend a fortune until babe is here and you can see what works. most people I know just use whatever is around though.
  • Yeah, my daughters would fight and kick off any cover.  Plus especially in the beginning it was tough to get set up and latched if I couldn't see what was going on.  Covers are a nice idea in theory but they weren't really practical for us.
  • @Cbeanz BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I will agree with the others and add that once I got the hang of feeding DS and I both much preferred no cover. Especially considering if you figure by the time our lo's are a few months old (and ready to fight us lol) it's gonna be HOT! Just practice the two tank method at home

Or go with @Cbeanz suggestion. Hands down.
  • I stopped using a cover after a few months. But in that time I found the most important features were width and a stiff neck line to keep the collar rounded so you can see baby.

  • I didn't use a cover often, because my DD got an awful heat rash on her face when I did, but when I did, my favorite cover was made to look like an infinity scarf. It was slightly wider than the regular infinity scarves, so I had a ton of coverage, and it wasn't super cumbersome when I was using it as a cover. I just un-looped it when I needed to use it and it draped over my shoulder like a blanket. I found a lot of the covers seem really wide and long on me, because I'm short and have a pretty narrow build. I did use the muslin blankets some as well, but it was (a very hot) August when we were starting breastfeeding, and the heat rash she was getting just wasn't worth it.
  • Good to know! I snagged one of the Milk Snob covers when they had their sale (just ended though). But I have a ton of the A&A muslin swaddles so I'm sure those will work the first couple months anyway.

Covered Goods is a knock off of milk snob but a little cheaper I think
  • I got one from udder covers and there's a code online to get it free, just pay shipping!
  • @C25 looks like copper pearl has similar ones too!

  • IF I covered, I used an A&A muslin blanket. However, I found that it's really difficult to get a new baby to latch and I needed to see what I was doing so I ended up under the blanket with him and that just drew even more attention and took longer too.
