I know it is still very early. But I want to get a new doctor he was ridiculously and unnecessarily rude to my mom today so I want out!
When i was pregnant with Lexi I debated a birthing center but I was a ftm and nervous of everything but now that I'm looking for options early on I was wondering what you all are thinking of/have done with previous babies?!?
Re: Birth center vs hospital
I do labor at home as long as possible though. The last two babies were out within 90 minutes of admission. I got to 7cm on my own with my third.
1) They tend to be science/evidence based on their support of mom and baby throughout pregnancy and birth. Meaning they do tests and etcetera that are proven to be worthwhile and helpful. They try to be as low intervention as possible, while be prepared to intervene at a moments notice.
2) They want you to be able to try whatever helps you birth. Walking, sitting, a tub, eating and drinking while you are doing your most intense workout ever.
If if you have any more questions or want to know more about my experience (STM that had to transfer during labor), please feel free to ask here or message me
What I appreciated most about our birth center was 1) they let me eat during the entire labor (hospitals generally don't allow this once you're admitted because they want to be prepared for possible surgery). 2) They are really creative in using non medical but still scientifically valid interventions
