I've been in our new apartment since the end of August. I've been meeting with friends in town semi-regularly, but nobody from out of town. But now I got 3 emails from friends I haven't seen in ages about how they're going to be in my hometown all on the same weekend - right before my EDD (job interview, visiting other friends, passing through to different city). People, there are like 51 other weekends in the year. Why didn't you pick one of those???
My husband is working from home today, so I asked if be could just handle the morning routine so I could sleep. I am listening to the chaos downstairs and bumping. Fingers crossed they all make it on time. I told him I might only get a couple chances to let him do this before I am doing all this and tending to a newborn.

So I'm having an inner debate about taking Friday (my last day) off from work. I'm already taking tomorrow off because of appointments so my whole day is taken up. H works this weekend so he won't be able to help with anything on Saturday and it would be nice to get a few more things done before baby comes. Plus it's hard enough coming into work and after tomorrow it would just be yucky. It would be nice to have some down time just the 2 of us. But I feel bad leaving on short notice (not that anything is going on this week in the office). Someone help me decide.
And I'm trying to decide where I want to go for my birthday dinner before we check in to the hospital on Sunday. There is too much going on in my brain!
@becbec28 i wouldnt be too concerned about work, ultimately its only one day & they have to learn to get on without you for longer anyways! Work isnt the priority any more!! also go for that birthday dinner, you may aswell enjoy the time together before its not just the two of you anymore! I had a nice restaurant booked for monday evening for dinner with my husband but had to cancel! Lol

- Hair cut - Pedicure - Take car to car wash - Finish baby laundry, sort out clothes to exchange - Finishing nursery touches - Pack hospital bag
I am hoping to squeeze in a nap, too. Then, this weekend we'll do our last shopping trip to finish buying the tiny things we still need... dare I say we are nearly done?! I know I will have forgotten things and we'll still have to run out when he's here, but I can't wait to be DONE for the time being.
I had a dental cleaning today and the hygenist asked me if I was going to "do anything" so I wouldn't get pregnant again. I couldn't even think of a good comeback because I was so shocked a stranger would think that was acceptable. Let alone someone in a professional environment.
Anyone else with a dog - have you noticed any changes in their behavior the closer you get to your due date? My dog has always been a "momma's boy" but that kind of went away in second trimester. However in the last week or so, he has become VERY attached to me again. Not sure if this is because he can sense the baby coming soon or it's just his own weird, anxious personality
@lfrank12 - One of our dogs, the one we've had longer, only wants to sit with me these days. Usually, she's a whoever has space on their couch kind of gal; but, no matter where I go lately, she wants to be there, cuddled up against me. The newer dog doesn't seem to care. If anything, he's been more aloof towards me and DH, picking an empty chair over cuddling with either of us. Both seem to think I have lots more smells than normal.
Just got off a 2 hour phonecall with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Thankfully the rep was very helpful & pleasant, and we finally have gotten some answers to my son's insurance policy. I'm pretty proud of myself for not getting super stressed out because this has been an ongoing problem since September. SEPTEMBER GUYS! He has to submit changes to 3 different departments that didn't previously fix the problems that have been causing our headache. Seriously so thankful to have some help and get this fixed before DS2 comes and I need to add him to the policy.
@lfrank12 Yes! Both of my dogs have recently been superglue to me whenever I'm home, day and night. The older of the two (and the female) has become incredibly protective of me, and always seems to know my emotions. If I randomly break down crying, she sits right next to me and leans in until I throw an arm around her and cry on her.
Both of my dogs think I smell very interesting lately too! But they have always been pretty cuddly and follow me everywhere when I'm home, so that hasn't really changed. Although the other night my husband was like play tickling me and took me by surprise and I sort of shrieked... both of the dogs came running right away, and our male dog got in between my husband and I and gave him a slight growl and bark! He has never done anything like that before - I don't know if maybe they feel more protective of me than normal - or just a coincidence.
@lfrank12 our dog obviously loves me but definitely loves my fiancé more. She is all about him. Lately she will check up on me more almost to make sure I am okay. If she is sitting between us on the couch snoozing, she will wake up randomly and look at me for like a minute straight almost like "mom are you okay? you good? okay good". Other than that she's still her normal psycho self
I think my dogs have been totally different too. They are super protective on walks now, like bark at people who walk by. Henry used to ignore them and Olive was super friendly and would go up to them. Henry has always been attached to me- sits by me, sits outside the shower when I'm in there, etc. But lately he's been even more so. Sits on my lap with his head on stomach and sleeps on me at night. The vet said something in passing about how clingy were they now that I was getting very pregnant. But didn't explain more than that. So I feel like there has to be something they are sensing!
@leslie1331 your male dog sounds just like mine! He always sits outside the shower when I'm in there, and sleeps on me at night too, and always in my lap (as much as he can be because he is a big dog!) when I'm home!
@MissMerciBeaucoup we must be super awesome I wish he wasn't so attached to me because I feel terrible when I'm gone! He sits on the stairs and watches out the window until I'm home. Like all day. And if I'm gone, he will even sleep down there. Breaks my heart! (He will eat and will go sit with my H for a while, so he's not like totally a mess.) I am making plans to make sure I pay attention to him after the baby just like someone with an older child does!
+1 to the clingy protective dog. She also waits outside the shower and follows me literally everywhere, even just to the bathroom. And if I close the door and she can't get in, she'll cry. She has been extra gentle and not so playful around me so I think she knows something is up. She's been extra snuggly to me and doesn't like when H is too close or kissing me. As cute as it is, we have to fuss at her when she tries to intervene on a kiss or hug because we don't want her to become possessive and think it's okay to do that.
+1 To the dogs. They totally pick up on it and sense the need to protect during pregnancy, especially females. When I was a vet tech we had various people tell us about their dogs as well, and when I got pregnant with DS1, I experienced it first hand! One of the vets I worked with showed me an article about how dogs can sense & also smell our new scents/hormones. She said it's not a proven science, but obviously there have been enough cases to make note of it.

@leslie1331 I feel the exact same way! It's heartbreaking when they just want you around all the time and you have other things to do! He follows me around in the morning and I think he can tell if it is a workday or a weekend based on what I get out to wear. When I go to the closet he watches intently and if I go for my leggings and loungey stuff he gets very excited and tail wags like crazy, but if I grab an office outfit, he is visibly disappointed (to me anyway - maybe I'm reading too much into his emotions IDK!). I know that he will be so happy when I'm home on leave for 4 months, but then I'm worried he'll be devastated when I go back to work! We treat our dogs like our babies, so I'm also planning extra attention for them to make sure they aren't neglected after we have the baby. Sounds crazy to non dog people I'm sure!!
+1 to dogs being weird. Jake has always been my dog but he is even more so now. He won't eat until I get home from work and he waits for me at the window. He sits at my feet at night, tries to join in when H and I kiss, hates when we have sexy time and he tries to sleep with me every night.
So I've been having H walk him and play with him and feed him. Hoping H can take over most of the dog duty when LO gets here
@kirstynikole I fully anticipate our dogs will react like that when the kid is crying. I've joked with my husband that we won't need a baby monitor because there's no way the dogs will let a crying baby go unnoticed!
+1 to the dog behaviors. My big dog now barges into the bathroom when I am in there (the puppy has been doing that for weeks now), and if I take a bath or shower both dogs have to lay next to the tub. They both check on me and almost go into a panic if they can't see which room I am in and run around sniffing me out, and then they come in and check on me with this look like "Mommy, you ok? are you sure? ok good." If I am behind a shut door, the pup paws at the door and cries until she sees me. And they run after me to the back door when I leave for work and make sad faces through the door opening until it is shut all the way. I'm worried they will be in panic mode when I am in the hospital delivering, but DH will be going home to see them every day since the hospital is only 7 minutes from home. My FIL went to touch my belly the other day and both dogs got in between us. They didn't growl but they totally blocked him and stared at him like "no touching mommy"
Add me to the clingy dog club. My dog usually lives and breathes for my husband. She will cuddle on him for hours and hours. Lately, she's been much more likely to hang around me than usual. She's too little to put her head on my belly, so she settles for draping herself over my legs and staring longingly at me. She also seems unusually interested in jumping up into my lap now that she there isn't really space for her there. My favorite thing, though, is that when I get down on the floor in the morning to stretch out my sciatica, she gets down from the bed and stretches out with me. Literally doing downward dog and upward-facing dog a few times. It couldn't be cuter.
I went to BevMo to pick up a particular beer for H and ask the employee where it is. As he looks at my belly I laughingly say "don't worry it's not for me" His response was the best: "No judgement here. You are a grown woman, you do you!"
So i guess I'm stuck with mobile bumping... for some reason I got logged out of thebump on my computer and now it lets me log in but I can't post anything... I've tried logging out and back in but nothing. Anyone been able to fix this issue?

Okay, this is random, but everyone needs to buy at least 2 sets of lansinoh soothies RIGHT NOW if you are planning on breastfeeding. Someone on this site mentioned them a month ago or so (@PerraSucia, maybe?) and I'm so happy I have them at this moment. I only bought one because I didn't want to have too much of something I didn't end up using, but they are godsends when your babe starts BFing. I have 2 more sets on the way from amazon right now because I want to be able to have a set fresh from the fridge at all times.
I just ordered graduated compression tights...so my ass down to my toes will be in one giant compression garment. I used to joke about how hard it was to get compression socks on...I can't wait to try tights at 36 weeks. I was looking at my legs closely last night and realized there was no definition from my mid thigh to my ankle.
Have fun with those @Patience7150! My doctor keeps hounding me about wearing my compression socks to work, but I feel like I overheat so bad in them! And I make DH put them on and take them off because, you know, pregnant problems!

Dogs are awesome.
