Measuring ahead!!!

I'm  25 weeks but I'm measuring at 28 weeks. Should I be worried or will he just be a big baby? I was only 6lbs 7oz and my boyfriend was only 7lbs 10oz. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next week to check fluids and measurements. I haven't took the GTT yet either.

Re: Measuring ahead!!!

  • I wouldn't worry at all. It's normal. It could all end up evening out. It doesn't mean you will have a large baby. It's all too early to determine that I think.

Also I don't think your and you boyfriends birth weight effects the babies weight. My mom and dad were both 5lbs and when my mom had my brother he was 11.1lbs. My husband and I were both 7lbs and DD was 9.9lbs.

  • Like @bacorrea said, I think it's too early to tell. Also, I would let the ultrasound determine if there's anything to worry about. By that I mean, ask your OB before you panic.
  • I measured ahead with DD. One time I was 3 weeks ahead. She ended up being only 7lbs 12oz. I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Hopefully, they'll be able to ease your mind after your appointment!  With my son, I measured nearly four to five weeks ahead the entire time, and they even moved my due date (despite me saying I knew exactly when I ovulated).  He came on his original due date at nearly 10 lbs.  Dude was just a big boy. :)
  • I'm just over 23 wks and at my appt yesterday I was measuring at 24.5-25 wks. Dr said he would just note baby measuring to size. He wasn't worried, so I'm not either...plus, there's still a lot of time left!!
  • Those measurements are very unreliable. My gestational diabetes support group has tons of women who are told their babies are measuring  like 9-10 pounds and then end up having like 6-7 pound babies.
  • DD measure well over 8 lbs towards the end and they even induced me because of it. I told them they were crazy and I was right. She was only 6lbs 9 oz. Measurements can be off, don't panic unless your doctor gives you a reason to.
  • I measured way ahead with DD and they never seemed concerned. They did one extra ultrasound at the end to make sure of her size, but all was well. Don't worry about it, could be that you have a ton of fluid or something.
