NEWCOMERS:
To be added to the Weekly Checkin, please answer the following:
1. How long have you been TTC?
2. What is your diagnosis?
3. What is your current treatment plan?
QOTW: What do you do if you're forced to sit next to a "man spreader"?
a) Make myself as small as I can and allow him to take up part of my chair space.
b) Give him a dirty look but curse him out in my mind. Later, wish that I had spoken up.
c) Ask him politely (or aggressively) to move his leg to his own zipcode.
d) Start crying silently about the injustice of it all.
e) Other. (explain)
Re: TTTC Checkin 01/17/2017
QOTW: I would like to think I would politely ask him to move his leg, but I would probably be more like to give him a dirty look and curse him quietly.
TTC #1 Since: April 2015
Unexplained Infertility
Cycle 1&2 : Clomid 50mg- BFN
Cycle 3: Letrozole 2.5mg- BFN
Cycle 4: Letrozole 5mg- BFN

Clomid 100mg+ Estrace- BFN
Cycle 6: Letrozole 5mg+Trigger shot+IUI+Progestrone- BFN

Cycle 8: Birth control to treat left ovary cyst

Cycle 10: Letrozole 7.5mg, 2 Cysts found during follicle check

Cycle 12: Clomid 100mg- BFN
Cycle 13-16: Natural attempts while awaiting IVF
Cycle 14: IVF-BFN
Qotw: I'd more than likely just give him a dirty look and curse him silently....or push into him until he moved...depending on my mood
Edited to add QOTW: I am bad about knowing what to say or do until later - so I would probably just suffer silently and then later think of the perfect thing I should've said!

Just waiting for AF since we missed most of my FW this cycle. Only a couple more and I think we can restart IUIs, depending on how DH does on the clomid.
That said, I just read through last week's check-in and I really appreciated the convo @notamyrtle started about focusing on the cons of having kids. We just spent the weekend with a toddler and infant, who pretty much ruined the grand plans we had for winter fun, and I came away feeling really negative about the idea of having kids--and asked DH if it was really worth it to continue these treatments if this was the end result. I just kept thinking how much more we could do. Of course, I'm also easily agitated now because AF is imminent and I realize these feelings probably have a lot to do with that. Anyway, it was helpful to hear that others have also struggled with similar feelings. Sometimes it seems like when you've been trying for so long, you should want kids more. But for me it can make me second-guess whether this is the right path. As others suggested, I'll try not to dwell too much on the cons and think more about the pros--and such experiences also help me think about what I'd do differently as a parent. :-)
QOTW I'm fairly passive-aggressive, so I'd make annoyed faces, curse him out in my mind, and shift around to make him move. When I see a manspreader taking up two seats and I want one, I do also start to sit down right next to him and he usually closes his legs.

Take a look at my blog
I'm surprised how unhopeful I am for this upcoming IUI. I was so certain I was pregnant last month, and so excited to finally be on clomid... I'm not as down as I was 2 days ago, but I am feeling dejected still.
I had a conversation with a friend the other day. I'd complained about the cost of IVF - which we haven't done or decided to do yet- and she was chiding me, like: "I can't believe you're complaining about this." We realized after that we'd been coming at it from different perspectives - she's confident that we are going to have a baby, and I'm not. As others have said, if you could be guaranteed a baby, the cost of IVF would be fine, of course you'd pay! But it doesn't work like that...
I think all this trying and failing has gotten to my head - I'm starting to think that everything we try is going to fail. Grr.
QOTW: depends on my mood. Like others, I'd probably say nothing, but if he got me on the wrong day, I might "accidentally" whack my laptop on his crotch. Oops.
Once, when I was much younger, on a subway, a clothed man pressed his his penis against my upper arm. To this day, I regret not jerking up my elbow and wailing him. What a fucking creep!
Sad news: My 34th birthday is soon. Totally thought I'd be done with pregnancies by 35. So, kind of not excited to celebrate that milestone.
Good news: Taking a couple months off while DH gets his sperm count up. We call the urologist the "junk doctor" which makes us laugh like middle schoolers, making it slightly less terrible that it's happening. His appointment is on the 23rd. Even better news, my brother-in-law should be moving out by the time we start trying again, so I might actually feel 'spontaneous' instead of awkward about our marital relations.
QOTW: Probably A because I hate conflict or feeling awkward, even at my own detriment. (This is from years of fat shaming, I don't always feel entitled to "enough room") But if it were really uncomfortable, I'd ask politely for more room.
DH - low motility
Rx: Levothyroxine, misc supplements
@Bababatty Glad to not be alone in these feelings. Children are wonderful but all the yearning and anxious pacing and freaking out I've gone through on this journey has started to wear on my soul, and I start to put on the self-protective "I'm sick of caring" guise or think about the perks of being childfree to try to cheer myself up. When becoming a parent suddenly requires heroic measures, it's only natural to think hard about one's desire to parent, what emotional or financial lengths one is willing to go to achieve it, under what parameters (i.e. biological or not), etc etc. Obviously stuff that most people don't ever really think about, lucky them.
@funkykey Yeah, my (very awesome but not infertile) close friend likes to refer to my future parenthood status (drops 'when you have kids' type comments), and I have to bite my tongue from reminding her that we don't know what the future holds. I don't want to be that bitter person who's constantly reminding others of their infertility.
I told her I was nervous about IUI #2, and she said, "It's understandable to be nervous about a huge life change!!" I'm like, umm, I'm actually nervous it's NOT going to work. She's an amazing friend but it's hard for those who aren't in our situation to understand our headspace.
So yeah... my update is that I had my first scan to start IUI #2. The cysts are gone, yay, but my antral follicle count is low (9), and that bummed me out, even though I know it doesn't mean much for IUI. I don't think most clinics even do antral follicle counts for IUIs. Mine seems to bounce around - last month it was 17. Not sure how I could have had more follicles in one ovary last month than I had in both ovaries today, but oh well. I just need some follies to stick around if we get to IVF... Shrug.
I keep saying, I'll eat my hat if this IUI works. Sorry to be wallowing in a little puddle of pessimism right now. It is hard to fathom treatments actually working, though I KNOW that's the wrong way to think. There's a reason these doctors stay in business... they must actually succeed every now and then.
QOTW: A polite shove or two?

@laurad75 good luck next week!
@funkykey that would have been a fabulous response to the creepy guy... oops!
@BenJay comiserations on the birthday... my 34th is weeks away too
I have just finished my first round of Letrozole and think I ovulated in the last day or so... my optimism is annoyingly high!
Has anyone had any experience with Letrozole/Femara and the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor (CBAFM)? It's my first month using it, and I figured I'd give it a go despite medication (that machine is expensive, damned if I'm not testing it out!). It hasn't detected an LH surge yet... but my regular OPK detected one yesterday. Will the CBAFM just not work with the mess?
QOTW: I'm generally the idiot that has to say something... I'll plan it in my head, say it our loud and then get really embarrassed for making a fuss! To be fair, manspreading is really comfortable... though I'd never do it if someone else was sharing our space!

On another note my sister-in-law came over and she had been clearance Christmas shopping recently. She came in so excited and showed us a 3-month old onesie that said something about being spoiled by auntie. She proceeded to say "So this is for, like, 10 years from now or whatever when you decide to have kids. If you could just make sure they were 3-months old at Christmas that would be great! I just couldn't pass it up."
She was pretty much joking and I tried to pass it off as a joke. We haven't told her about infertility treatments or even that we have been TTC so she has no clue, but, wow, that was a punch in the gut.
QOTW: I would probably glare at him and put myself in a position where it would make it uncomfortable for him to continue to sit that way. I have very low tolerance for inconsiderate people, but I also probably wouldn't say anything.

a) Make myself as small as I can and allow him to take up part of my chair space. I don't really take up that much space despite how big I am.
So, I started a cycle with provera and it was my first with levothyroxine. Since that first forced cycle I have had 2 on my own. It has been emotional, and weird, and no one is as excited as I am about it and that's depressing and frustrating. The first cycle was 23 days and I didn't see a temp spike because I lost my thermometer. The second cycle was 28 days and the temp spike happened on CD 24, so my LP was not very long. This cycle my temps are so much higher than they usually are, it's confusing. And my period only lasted 3 days and was very light. So now, after all the excitement and hope of maybe getting regular cycles, I'm not sure I'm going to get another. I just have to wait and see.
Clomid 50;100;150;200: No O

@MountainLady - I posted a whole thread on my thoughts on the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor. It definitely has some drawbacks. I no longer use my first morning urine, and test instead around 10am, and that has definitely helped. You can read the thread here:
https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12697400/reasons-i-hate-the-clearblue-advanced-fertility-monitor
@kaitlink33 FX AF comes soon. That is a LONG time to wait!
@MandyBeeSLP - FX you get KU-ed after HSG! Hahaha re: nurse and right tube. I hope she's right and now you have doubled your chances!
But on a more serious note, if my SIL did that, I would be so upset.
@Mythril - good luck! I hope your cycles continue! Kudos to you on all the temping, I have no patience for that.

Eta: (TB ate my post) At least it seems to be easy to remove polyps, but I am frustrated with this whole process at the moment.
Anyone have any experience with cervical polyps?
embies!!
This has been the longest wait to O ever! Clomid CD 3-7, then flagyl from CD7-14 (yay for BV!), and the last two days I've been battling thrush thanks to the flagyl - currently sitting here with a purple tongue, hoping gentian violet does the trick.
We did IUI this morning (my SO's numbers were amazing!!) and the RE did not want to do progesterone, he wants to see if the clomid fixed it, so I go back for bloodwork in a week. If it's low then he said we will do meds.
Anyone else have awful O pain from clomid?! I usually get a stitch in my side, but this is like a knife in each ovary. Yikes! Really hoping this means we have several eggs floating around in there!
