Anyone with emetophobia?

I have emetophobia and was wondering if any of my fellow September 2017 mom's-to-be struggle with this as well. If so, how are you doing so far?

Re: Anyone with emetophobia?

  • Yuuuuuup. Hi ME!!!!! So bad. The last time I was sick was 1999 and our whole family had salmonella poisoning. I'm terrified of what will be but at the same time just grateful to be in this position after all we've been through. Last night was the first time I felt super nauseous to the point where I was worried about it... it was after I took all my nightly supplements so I'm spreading them out today to try and help. So far my nausea comes in waves and has been pretty mild so so far so good. How are you holding up?

  • I had to go google.  I'm so sorry you're dealing with that!  I didn't even know it was a thing!  Hopefully you ladies will have low levels of nausea as time goes on!

@oxinfree hello fellow emet!! I am sorry you have to deal with this too, but at least we are not alone. Feel free to message me if you ever need support or to vent. I am doing ok so far. I haven't gone into a panic attack yet, so that's good, lol. My doctor did give me some phenergan, but told me to use it sparingly. It gives me a lot of comfort just to have it if I need it. I hope your nausea stays mild or non existent at all.

@MySallyGirl thank you for the well wishes! It's a weird thing to deal with, but I've learned over the years that it's more common than people think. Hopefully we make it through the first trimester without too much grief!

ETA: Last time I was sick was 2005. Isn't it crazy how long we emets can go without being ill, but still worry about it every day?!

  • I do not have emetephobia, but I did want to say something encouraging.  I know every pregnancy is different, but I had intense nausea with DS until 18w (I know, not encouraging), but I never threw up the entire time.  A lot of my friends had the same experience.  I hope you all have minimal nausea and no vomiting while you're pregnant!

  • @LeFemmeViolette It looks like you have been on a long TTC journey. I hope you conceive soon! I know with how hard you have been trying, that any nausea you experience will be worth it! I keep trying to remind myself that this is something my husband and I both really want and that this morning sickness part of the journey will not last long! I am doing pretty well so far and am hoping things stay that way!

@ColoradoHiker Thank you so much for your encouragement and support. It really does help to hear you never actually threw up. Hearing stories about it being possible helps more than people might think! :)
