Monday B****fest

I have been waiting all day for someone to start this...let it out!!!

Re: Monday B****fest

  • So I went to one of my very dear friend's baby shower on Saturday.    She is someone I work with and has been trying a long time for this baby so I couldn't be happier for her!   Meanwhile our former boss (she got promoted) sees me there and shouts across the room "so I hear you're pregnant".    About 5-6 people heard her and just gawped at me.    She immediately realized her mistake, but I was super hurt that she would bring it up (we haven't announced yet, and there were lots of people from work there), and on top of that I would never do anything to take away from my friend's special day.    I feel terrible about it!  So my b**** is that people should not bring up a pregnancy unless the pregnant person has spoken to you personally.

***my boss know and a select few of my coworkers who I've thrown up in front of several days in a row.

  • @JDBtwinmama the wooooorst! Did she apologize? How did your friend react? (Hoping she knew you were preggo already!)

@mrsmatt1212.  She fortunately didn't hear!   However the people who did hear were not all the people who knew, they were very polite and did not ask any questions.    I think it was really clear by my face that I was not ready to discuss!

eta-she did apologize but continued to try to discuss it and told me how angry I was with my twin pregnancy and how she bet my husband didn't forget that!
  • @JDBtwinmama sounds like someone needs a lesson in social grace!
  • We hired a friend to take our announcement photo photo, and we told her that we just wanted a quick shot we could post the same day because we were going to let the word out to my students and word travels fast in our tiny town. That was Saturday, and I've been getting "what, really?" Texts and messages for the past 2.5 days... still no photos. I messaged her casually and she said she'd *start* editing them today. I'm passed because the whole point was to tell our town ourselves and now we're the center of the rumor mill instead.
  • @dinofreak there is nothing worse than people finding out before you make the announcement!    That stinks!
  • That's complete shit of her @JDBtwinmama! Is she 15?! What kind of adult does that!!!

There have been several times where I've either figured out or known someone was pregnant at a social situation and I've always kept my trap shut. One time I was pretty drunk and I still didn't say anything!
