Going to barre today with my **TW **very pregnant BFF to try to squat the baby out, because if I have to listen to her complain about being pregnant for one more minute I may scream! **end TW** then I'm making crab cakes for dinner! And packing for our Hawaii trip next week
I spent way too much money this weekend on home decoration items. I am usually really good about being frugal. But when I step into home decor stores, all reasonable thoughts leave my head and I feel like I am on HGTV remodeling our home.
I went in to purchase two pillows, but came out with 4 plants, 6 pillows, a bowl, decor items for the bowl and a lamp. Before I knew it, I was practically redesigning our whole dang house....
DH is no longer allowed to make insurance decisions by himself. One of his teeth started hurting this weekend so he informed me that he had dropped his dental insurance during open enrollment because "he didn't want to pay for something he doesn't use." Went to the dentist today and they want to do $6500 worth of work. Ugh!!!!
@KariAnn323: Holy moly, that's a lot of money. I would be so irritated he dropped dental...especially because most plans only charge $15-$30 a month. Is it possible to wait to have the work done until he can enroll again?
@LuND I have a shark steam mop too, and I like it. I actually got it for free when we bought our vacuum, so that made it even better!
@dragonfly17 I'm the exact same way. Jeans on Sale for $10, nah, I don't need another pair of jeans. Random ass decorative bowl that looks pretty cool but I have No idea where I'm going to put it. Must purchase.
@KariAnn323 Omg, I would be livid!! Who just cancels their dental insurance, it's not *that* expensive anyway? Wow. Well, my teeth suck so I won't be canceling mine anytime soon. $6500 is a major hit.
@zwink1: Hahaha....yessss! I could care less about clothing or most other things. But useless vases, wall art or stuff that adds to my "cozy home" feeling...I can't help myself.
@KariAnn323 Wowzers I second what pp said about waiting until the next open enrollment if possible. Something else to consider is to look into a dental school in your area. I know there are a lot of programs that will do work at a reduced rate because they have students doing the work. Maybe just for him to get enough done to reduce the pain and then have the rest done after he has insurance again?
I'm an insurance companies dream because I am always afraid of "worst case scenarios" but several years ago when I was in college I purchased an extended warranty on a used car I had and that warrently ended up saving me thousands of dollars. Everyone told me not to buy it because they are generally a "waste of money" but I'm SO happy I did and now I always buy/have insurance for everything lol!
@KariAnn323 I would be pretty livid with him! I hope you're able to find some way to help reduce that cost! I know some of the dentists in my area accept Care Credit and they usually give you 6 months no interest. Maybe that's an option.
DH and I are all caught up on Doctor Who and this weekend we finished season 1 of The Crown on Netflix. Last night we started watching The Man in the High Castle on Amazon and it is really good so far!! I'm otherwise all caught up on my DVR shows and we will most likely cut the cord on our cable within the next week or two! This is kind of scary and exciting all at the same time!
Also, I got to see this gem last night before bed lol

basically he saw a dark spot on one tooth and it kind of hurt. Dentist says that is from a previous filling. They want to do a deep cleaning on his gums, take out his wisdom teeth plus another 2 teeth.
If we waited until his next open enrollment at work he wouldn't be covered until next January. Starting to look at different insurance options. Humana actually has an HMO that's only $15 a month and it doesn't limit your annual benefit
@KariAnn323 Hopefully Humana works out. If not, try looking into local dental schools. Some of them offer deeply discounted services...you just have to have students watching in on your procedure
@lulu1180 I still need to finish 'The Crown'! I couldn't get into 'The Man in the High Castle,' which was surprising because I usually love anything WWII related (I've seen 'Band of Brothers' an obscene number of times, and will watch it again).
I just skyped with DH, and it turns out he has a spring leave the week before my school spring break. Which sucks because that means he probably wouldn't be able to take leave for me to go visit the week I'm off. BUT he said that he was planning on surprising me by trying to come home for his week off (we've never been very good at keeping surprises). It's not a definite but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It would be so amazing just to have him home for a bit!

Guys I have a question... I figure we talk about so many TMI things here, I can ask. I'm a little itchy in my lady cave, right around the opening. It's not horrible or unbearable but it's itchy. No discharge or smell or anything. I have never had a yeast infection before so I don't know if that's what this is or some other infection? Could it be irritated from shaving cream or something? Is this worth a doctor visit? Ugh.
@jsnakehole I was surprised that I enjoyed The Crown as much as I did, it was very well done! My MIL has mentioned The Man in the High Castle a while ago and I just signed up for Amazon Prime a few weeks ago. Now that we are caught up on all of our other shows, we decided to start a new one. Also fx YH is able to come see you and fx again that it's in your FW!!

@hartmich When I had a yeast infection in the past, it was unbearably itchy and I bought the Monistat OTC which includes a cream for the exterior. I think I have seen some ladies in the past say they called their PCP and got a prescription that ended it much soon and an OTC med would.
If it's shaving related, I typically itch a little within a few days of shaving but it goes away within a couple days.

@hartmich I haven't had a yeast infection in 20+ years, but I've had itching like you're describing. Have you switched soaps/body washes? New underwear? Traveled recently? It sounds mostly like your pH is off a bit, but I'm certainly not an expert.
@hartmich with my most recent yeast infection I did not have any discharge just some itching that would come and go. Actually my biggest symptom was burning for a second at the start of urination. This was because the skin was irritated. For most women the over the counters work well but I'm allergic to them so I went in and saw a midwife who gave me an Rx for diflucan (a typically one dose pill). It sounds like it could be a yeast infection. Some women go to the doc the first time to confirm and then do over the counters after that. GL girl, it sucks when your lady cave itches!

@wabash15@lund@lulu1180 thank you ladies! The itching is mild and on and off so maybe I'll see what happens over the next day or two... and then try something if things don't improve!
@JJMNO1616 I always buy insurance on big ticket items too. In high school I was supposed to go on a trip to Europe with a group from school. A volcano in Iceland erupted the day of our flight and the ash made it impossible to fly so the trip was cancelled. Because it was a natural event and not a fault of their own, students and their families only got their money back if they had insurance. There were 2 kids going that were siblings and their parents didn't get insurance on the trip, I'm not sure if they ever got their money back. I used half the refund to buy a dog haha.
@lulu1180 I loved The Crown but DH wasn't a fan and we're catching up on Dr. Who now.
@hartmich my yeast infections always start off as a little itching on the outside, kind of just randomly. I get them so often that my dr. gave me a RX for 5 refills of the prescription. It's a single pill that's free with my insurance vs. $15-20 for 3 or 1 day Monistat.
It's Tuesday am here already. My Sheltie woke up at 5 to pee and my Maltese wanted to go with her so I'm tired. I start my statistics class and MBA capstone this week which are my final things for my MBA. DH settled on getting a Subaru Crosstrek when we get back to the States. He had one before and loved it, he said he didn't want one this time because he thought I didn't like it. He wanted that or a $40k Jeep. I'll take the small trunk space for him to have a car that's $15k less, plus my Newfoundland had to go to a new home so we don't need to worry about transporting a 150lb dog. My parents got divorced a few months ago and my dad just couldn't keep up with taking care of him since he works 12-15 hour days. He just went to his new home yesterday.
DH started his new job today and I was just informed that this company has way better health insurance than mine. We're going to save quite a bit of money once we're able to switch from my insurance to his. I'm pretty stoked about this y'all.

Spent my day with AF who is here with a vengeance. Luckily a heating pad (I'm trying not to take my prescribed naproxen due to TTC after AF is gone) and cat snuggles and my comfy couch have been helping. So glad I deep cleaned our home last night so I could spend today lazing about! I've spent most of today lurking around here to get the hang of it (guidance welcome if I've done anything wrong thus far). DH left me to go play board games with friends (nerd ) Loved having today off and remembering the importance of this day - but not looking very forward to a super long work day tomorrow! (busy season)
@LuND I also have a Shark steam mop (it was on our wedding registry) and DH and I are both OBSESSED with it (we're very weird about cleaning) @lulu1180 We love The Crown and Man in the High Castle, sooo good. DH pretended to not be interested in The Crown but eventually his British-ness came through @feeislove That's amazing and must feel so good. I'm all about saving right now, we have a baby specific savings account. Don't know if it'll take us a long time or a little bit to get pregnant but it can't hurt to save as much as possible in advance! Or spend that money on something fun @heatherdubrow Where in Hawaii are you headed? I'll be going in Feb - my ILs live there
TTGP March Siggy Challenge: Animals Celebrating St. Patrick's Day
@feeislove That is such a nice surprise!! When I was trying to decide which job to accept this past December the health benifits was one of the main determining factors for me. Both jobs had good plans but the job I accepted doesn't charge their employees anything at all for premiums. So I am saving $2000 a year in insurance premiums which made this job feel like an even bigger raise then I was already getting. Now if only it didn't all go towards student loans lol.
My Sheltie is getting heart worm treatment on Thursday and I'm super nervous. We rescued her in December knowing she had heart worms. She's been on antibiotics and prednisone for the past month to clear up some lung inflammation before the actual treatment. (BTW @kiwi2628 she did keep the prednisone down after feeding her half a meal and then half a meal with the medicine. She eats too fast I guess) The treatment requires strict bed rest for 30 days. As the worms die, if her heart rate gets high it can cause too many worms to come out of her heart at once and cause an embolism. She won't be able to run around or play fetch or even have a bath. It'll be 30 days of bed/crate and quick potty walks. My worry is that she's super hyper like most Shelties so it'll be hard to keep her calm but I've already talked to the vet and they said they'd give us trazadone to calm her down.
@ag90 OMG yes it is so nice. We too have a savings account who's funds are going towards "baby expenses". Thanks to this whole insurance thing, we should be able to start added to it again (we had to stop because DH wasn't getting enough work to really make money and then was unemployed) and we should have a pretty substantial amount by the time its going to be used. We don't really know how soon I'll get pregnant but like you said, it's nice to have.
@JJMNO1616 WOW I've never heard of a place offering insurance where you didn't have to pay a premium. You go girl!!! But boo on student loans!
