My weekend is looking a-ok! Tonight, we're having a nice, quiet friend over for dinner. I think I picked the perfect beer pairing to go with the chana masala with star anise and the dal I am making. I think I'm going to make a cornmeal blood orange upside down cake for dessert, but we'll see how my energy holds up going into the afternoon.

Saturday, me and DH are going to an indoor farmers' market we haven't been to yet here. Apparently they have heritage grain flours there (like Red Fife) which my husband is really interested in, as he bakes bread. There might also be a seed vendor, so I might start buying for my deck garden this spring - have to start from seed next month anyway! If there are any cool herbs, I'll probably do some indoor herbs for the kitchen, as well. If not, I'll wait for a Seedy Saturday which is relatively soon anyway.

I'm expecting, um, a marital aid in the mail today - so hopefully there will be some fun before the baby-making relations begin next week. It's our first foray into toys because loss on top of everything that came after has taken the wind out of my sails for the most part. Yay for trying new stuff!

AFM, my mom and sister are coming to town! Yay. So looking forward to some girl time with them. We don't really have plans just hanging out together. It's a long weekend for me so I'm also looking forward to the extra day off!

@reneeannemm the indoor farmers market sounds awesome! DH and I also talked about getting a toy and I got one and put it in his stocking at Christmas, but then the loss happened and it has just sat in the package, maybe I'll bust it out this weekend. I did get the lingerie I ordered in the mail yesterday, so why not!

AFM we have a trip to Costco planned for this afternoon when DH gets off work. I love shopping at Costco!

Tomorrow we're having a bbq with my sister and her family. It's going to be wonderful, I love spending time with her, my BIL and my nephews.

And Sunday, my only plan is to stay in my comfy pants inside all day

The snowstorm here in OR is now compacted ice/snow on the roads, so a lot of people still aren't going to work. Might hit the gym tomorrow if I can make it, I try and run outside mostly but this is a tad difficult. Walked around yesterday and took pictures, it was so pretty! And I grew up in a place if we got 3 feet we would still have school the next day.....

I'm going to yoga for the first time since college after work today! And I just found out we have Monday off so I'm over the moon... I have no plans for this weekend other than cleaning out my closet to fit all of the hand-me-ups my younger sister sent me this week (she works in fashion so I get a lot of her leftovers). And one of my New Years resolutions was to eat more fish and do a vegetarian dinner once a week, so I ordered two cookbooks and they both came earlier this week! I'm looking forward to spending hours flipping through them and picking out good recipes

It's my Birthday tomorrow! As an early birthday present, I got my HCG levels back today and they're back to 0 ... so while we're not TTC right away, I am happy to know things can start going back to normal and gives me hope for the future.

We're heading to a Joe Nichols/Josh Turner concert tomorrow night at the casino to celebrate, which will be our first date night in awhile, so I'm excited! And as a bonus, my MC bleeding finally stopped today, so I feel like I'm more myself and will actually be able to enjoy it and it will help take my mind off things

I have quite a busy weekend. tomorrow we are going out to dinner for my in laws anniversary, sunday me and dh are going out to dinner for my birthday and monday I have a scan with my re and hopefully scheduling my iui. and then we're heading to brunch at my brothers for his birthday. very busy but a welcome distraction from waiting for the days to tick by.

@migdala I try and figure out a vegetarian meal for us once a week, but I keep it a secret until he realizes ;-). Should get some library books on that--meal prep (veg and non-veg) I go to budgetbytes.com a lot.

Wow, looks like lots of awesome plans for this group this weekend!! Hooray!

We are doing gym tonight, I'm meeting up with my old college roommates for lunch tomorrow, and then tomorrow night doing dinner with DH's coworker/his wife, and one their customers/his wife- so a work thing, not expecting too much, but hopefully good food. Then we're going out to Russian river brewery to meet up with some friends after so that will be fun! Anybody had Pliny the Elder? That's their beer and wins all sorts of competitions.

Sunday us quiet day and clean up day!

@amberruka I actually made the cake straight away. I can get away with skipping making dessert, but not with skipping dinner, so I figured I'd make sure it was done. Smell perfect, though won't taste it until tonight. It was this NYT Cooking recipe that I veganized. My oranges disappeared into the cake a bit - not sure how, but I'm not worried about it.

First, please appreciate that my three blood oranges formed the perfect gradient somehow

AFM: we have dinner at a friends' place tonight, and we're going out for dinner with other friends tomorrow night. I will probably end up working one day this weekend, and then I travel for work at the beginning of next week. The first two months of the year are always the busiest for me at work, so if I can just make it to the end of February, I should be OK. Working 55-60 hour weeks isn't fun though.

we are in an ice storm warning - they predicted it would start today but I really think it starts tomorrow. Nothing has happened yet. Schools here are doing early dismissal regardless. If our baby sitter doesn't cancel we are going to a friends wedding. Small wedding of 20 people and it won't go very long so we won't be out late. The rest of the weekend will be spent inside due to weather. I'm looking forward to getting some alone time with DH

you guys talking about toys etc I had gotten DH an early Xmas gift. I bought a nurse outfit for $10 on amazon and added my own red wig and red high heels. He was completely blown away and lasted a really long time - like "ok can you just finish because I might be sore lol"

Lots of exciting plans this weekend! Sorry for those with the bad weather, though.

No plans tonight, though I should probably finish taking down Christmas decorations (I'm good to get them down by MLK Jr day each year!) and HIO. Tomorrow we have a 1 yr old's birthday party, which I'm looking forward to because I get to see one of my good friends and get the lowdown on our AW acquaintance who just had a baby last week - drama is apparently already brewing. Then likely I get to go to H's school's homecoming & basketball game. I'm just excited to get out of the house a bit - I've been home alone a lot this week. Sunday my sister and I are going to a bridal show, and Monday, doing a whole lot of nothing on the holiday.

@vlagrl29 I laughed out loud at your nurse costume comment! Hope you can make the wedding this weekend!

@laeberge3 No, not an accountant. I do scientific consulting. It's just that all of my primary client's year-end reports for the previous year are due in Jan and Feb. So, it's always a crazy start to the year. But definitely not an accountant - no one wants to talk to me about tax advice, trust me. Lol.

This weekend I am going wedding dress/ bridesmaid dress shopping for my friend's wedding. We have appointments from 12 -7 on Sunday so it should be a long day but at least its focusing on fun, happy things which will be a nice change. My mom and I want to go see La La Land at some point over the weekend. And DH and I have been binge watching A Man in High Castle on amazon prime so we will probably hang out with the pup and do that a bit. On Monday we have DH's appointment with a surgeon- after his recent bout with pancreatitis he needs to get his gallbaldder taken out. Hoping we can just get it scheduled soon.

@reneeannemm - as usual your meals look and sound delicious!

@migdala - have fun at yoga! I have such a love/ hate relationship with it but have been thinking of getting back into it since it would be good for relaxation and something I could do when I do get pg.

@jen83mn - Happy birthday and have fun at the Josh Turner concert! Glad you are past the actual mc and feeling better.

@brooklyngirl18 - Happy early birthday. I hope you have a fun busy wknd and its a good distraction. GL with your RE appt.

@TScalei Have fun wedding gown shopping. I was totally stressed out for my own shopping but I think shopping for someone else is fun. I had my gall bladder out a couple of years ago. It's not too bad! After he gets it down, give me a shout so I can give you an FYI of part of the recovery.

@pumpkin0913 We shop at BJs all the time. It's only DH, me and the puppy. We talk about how it's insane we buy in bulk for just the three of us.

As for me. Not going to have a lot of DH time this weekend which is a bummer. DH only has the weekend off every 6 weeks but he is doing a martial arts seminar Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Monday he's working til 8 am - 12 am. How disgusting. I have Monday off from school and the clinic. I'll be home twiddling my thumbs. At least it's not during FW.
We are planning on going to dinner tonight. The groupon is expiring in a couple of weeks : ) Maybe make pulled pork tomorrow night. Maybe make a batch of choc chip cookies or maybe apple pie.

I hit the gym tonight for my first ever group class (power core). Holy crap it was insane and of course I was doing the opposite of what the instructor was doing every other time. But I go to al older people gym and all the other people were super encouraging. I can't wait to go back. I have made it my duty to get into the best shape of my life while I wait for this ttc to happen. They say your 30's are your prime right? I wanna get some muscles.

@reneeannemm Do you toast the herbs yourself for your Indian dishes? I tried that once and failed miserably. The cake looks delicious.

@Mack2342 Yeah for girl time and days off. Win Win.

@pumpkin0913 BBQ eh? You must live someplace warm. I was actually daydreaming of bbqs this morning at work. It's a brisk 35 degrees here. So, no BBQ for a while unless I am willing to brave the cold at night, um, no.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I am slothing it over here. DH is working a 24 hour shift and I was going to have a friend come over, but I told him I had a headache and needed to sleep. Of course I took Excedrin and now I can't. Tomorrow is mani and pedi day. We are still fresh post loss and both of us are kind of sleep deprived, so I think finally cleaning and taking down Christmas decorations will sap the rest of our energy.

Ice storm is keeping us in the weekend. I could not make it home from work. I commute 40 minutes to work. So it turned into an unexpected girls weekend at a friends house. So should be fun.

@justsuzie yes I feel like my 30s are my prime. Good for you for working out. I was super excited I made it all the way thru an arm balance yoga class this week. Hadn't been to one since before Xmas. Due to my spotting they had me on pelvic rest. I was so excited to sweat again.

@justsuzie Yep, I toast my whole spices in a special pan just for spices and then grind them into whatever masala I need. If it's hot enough outside, I'll toast in the sun for a bit, like they do in India. I try to do it fresh every time (tastes so much better!!) but sometimes have a little extra and hold onto it for the next curry.
