Tuesday Ticker Change - 1/10

With Koukonei's twins arriving early, I think there are only a few of us left on Tuesdays now!

How far along are you?

How big is baby?

Appointments this week?

Symptoms?

Rant/Rave/Questions?

GTKY: (stolen from Monday as I am running out of ideas :p) Are you holding on to any fears about pregnancy/birth/post-birth?

  • @kitkat8387 DH and I are having the same problem.  We have tried but I keep getting this uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen.  He's been pretty good about it but it's super frustrating.  also...YAY for 3rd tri!!!
  • @kitkat8387 I hit the third trimester yesterday and started kick counts then. I am doing them only once a day and am shooting for roughly the same time each day (when I drink my coffee and watch the news each morning). I have to limit myself because I have a tendency to be obsessive. I mentioned them to my doctor yesterday and she said she's not a big proponent of kick counts unless someone has an underactive baby (mine is a busy guy). She said they tend to cause undue worry. Our babies are sleeping for 12+ hours/day right now; it's normal to have large swaths of time without noticeable movement.
  • @kitkat8387 I didn't know kick counts was still a thing.  My doctor has never had me do them (and this is #3 with her)  Also, the only position we can make work is with us laying on our sides and him coming in from behind.  I still have cramping after, but it's not as bad as some other positions.

  • @Mama5181 how are you doing the finger pricks?  I found they didn't hurt as much/long if I used the sides of my fingertips instead of the pads of you fingers. Are you following the GD diet?  It was really hard the first week, and it was trial and error for me the whole time, but it did get easier.

  • @thecavfamily @pammasu0909 my doctor hasn't actually mentioned kick counts to me yet, so there's a chance she might not even want me to do them. I was just assuming she would be mentioning it on Friday since it's my first appointment after 28 weeks, which is when I have read they typically start. If she does want me to start them, I will definitely need to limit myself to once a day and try not to obsess (easier said than done lol).

  • @kitkat8387 I don't think my doc would have mentioned them at all if I hadn't brought them up at the end of my appointment.
  • You ladies were right, turns out my doctor's office doesn't recommend doing kick counts on a regular basis. She did say that if I feel like I haven't felt him in a while, to eat something and lay down and try to get to 10 kicks in 2 hours. But in general, it's not something they need me to do once or twice a day.

  • @pammasu0909 yes doing the stick on the side. I'm constantly forgetting which finger I stuck last and re poking the same one over and over. The diet isn't terrible except I'm having a really bad time with protein. I can't do most. So I'm struggling to find a balance
