my waters broke on saturday morning at around quarter to 7, so i rang into the hospital and they said to come in to be checked over, bring my bags incase i needed to stay but that i would be more then likely sent home again.
When i arrived at the hospital they wanted to keep me in because of gd & to keep an eye on my blood sugars & said they would give me a suppositry medication to kick start labour that evening. So saturday was a pretty dull day with not much happening. I had no pains or contractions, so was pretty surprised to learn that i was nearly 5cm by the time they came to give me the meds at around 8pm. This meant i couldnt have the meds so they left me overnight and sent my husband home.
Around 12:30ish i started having contractions but when they started monitoring then they werent frequent enough or strong enough to be of any consequence.
At 6am they moved me from the general labour ward to my own delivery suite. I had my own midwife who spent the whole day with me who was fantastic. I was put on a drip with meds to increase the strength of my contactions & help me dilate fully. I started on gas & air for the pain, moved onto diamorphine, then had an epidural which didnt work so had to have a second epidural which did work. I threw up a lot & it was probably about 11pm by the time i was fully dilated and ready to push. I pushed for about an hour and a half to no avail & the ob consultant came in to discuss other options as she was simply not moving down.
The ob consultant is a friend of my husbands & was great, talked me through that they would prep me, give me a spinal, try assisted delivery first and then section as the final resort.
The spinal was the weirdest sensation in the world! Ive never had any type of surgery before & to be lay on a table and see your legs up in stirrups but feel as if they are lay out straight infront of you is just bizzare!
They tried a forceps delivery but it wasnt sucessful so they performed a cesarean. It wasnt so much of an emergency as the baby was never in distress and it was all very calm and relaxed. Right before she delivered Cora did a somersault and came out feet first!
She got cleaned up & was brought to me & Evin for a cuddle before Evin took her back to our room whilst they cleaned me up. Once i got back to the room we had skin to skin & my parents were allowed up quickly to see her before they went home. We also tried feeding.
About 4am i was given a bed bath & moved to the post natal ward.
It was tough going but Cora is an absolute wee doll & is doing great! Im sore & tired but generally doing well. Cora blood sugars have been high enough that theyre not concerned but my milk hasnt come in yet so shes getting formula via syringe at the minute but we will continue to try myself before each feed.
Ive has a bath this afternoon & eaten some toast & am awaiting visitors.
& now for the bit everyone really wants.....here she is

I'm also deciding not to share my birth story. Not because it is awful or horrible or anything like that, but it did get rather complicated. After reflecting on it, I realized how much I lurked birth announcement threads and used that info to think about my own birth; what unfolded in my birth was not a regular birth, and I really don't want my experiences to introduce fear or uncertainty into women who are about to give birth themselves.
I will just say that, despite some complications, the labour and birth was the most powerful thing that has ever happened to me. Probably more accurate to say the most powerful thing I ever did... Good luck, future mamas.
Also, I just wanted to say that, if your birth doesn't go the way you are expecting, and you are feeling upset or scared or traumatized about that, please feel free to PM me. I think it's important to talk about these things, and if you don't have anyone in your own life you feel comfortable talking to, I'm happy to be a random stranger on the internet who has been there and can commiserate.
Felix Gul was born 1/18/17 to beat trump being in office. I didn't have pre-e this time just gestational hypertension but was having pretty severe reactions so they pushed my repeat c/s from 39 weeks to 36w6d. He was 7lb4oz and 20.25" and had a cord around his neck. He currently is in the NICU for fluid in his lungs.
He's hairy like a monkey.
Mia is doing perfectly, laying beside me in our room. Lucas is staying overnight in the NICU for monitoring bc he wasn't breathing great, but so far he's still breathing room air, not on any kind of machine.
How did this all come about?
Yesterday I noticed I was having way more contractions than usual and when they hadn't gone away this morning, I decided to head to L&D around 9am just to get checked out. 8 hours later, I had dilated from 0 to a 2 (I didn't dilate much with DS either) and the contractions just kept coming harder and harder. My doctor decided to go ahead and do the c-section and that was a fairly uneventful, calm-ish procedure. Much different than my first experience where 26 hours of labor ended in c-section.
Anyway, here are my 2 little loves! Can't wait to continue to see the Febubabies as they arrive!
Our sweet peanut, Delilah born at 39w. I woke up at midnight with contractions, timed them for an hour at 6 minutes apart. Got the to hospital and I was dilated 3-4cm, from first contraction to birth it was 10.5 hours, I pushed for 23 mins. Delilahs birth was made possible with a giant water birthing tub and alllllllll the nitrous oxide. She is 6lbs 1oz and amazing
I labored at home on Thursday, 7 a.m. and was admitted into L&D at 6 cm dilated on Friday around 3 a.m. Twelve hours later, he was in my arms. He is my first baby and my everything!
The original due date was Feb 1st. Then they moved Marcus to Jan 23rd. He was born on Jan 21st at 11:16 am.
Marcus' Birth Story
My husband ended up getting a new accounting job and basically they said that they would not be able to give him time off for the deliver of our baby after the weekend of Jan 21st because of tax season. So at my 39 week appointment I asked if there is anyway we could induce labor on Jan 20th or 21st. My doctor checked me out and said everything looks ready for it, I was already 3 centimeters dilated, so if I did not have the baby that week we can induce on friday evening with the goal of the baby coming on Sat Jan 21st.
Friday I was working at the school, I felt the false contractions in class a lot. The doctor said go have a yummy last meal before getting induced at 6:30 pm on Friday. We ended up going to Red Lobsters, yum. Next we checked in, we already did the pre registration so we could go right up to the maternity ward. It is nice not being in active labor going to the hospital it felt not rushed and had time to make sure everything is ready to go. There I found out that I am 3 plus. They also did a sonogram to find out where he is, he was head down put his face was up which is not as good. So they gave me a pill called Dinoprostone. They insert it up you and is a great way to get things started slowly and kick start your body but without all the pain of Pitocin. This is a great way to start I think. I was able to sleep during it. The other thing I needed was Penicillin drip because I tested positive for strep. That stuff sucks. The first time it burns inside of you, they give you a warm blanket to stop the burning feeling. They said I need one every 4 hours until baby is delivered. Blah... So that means I have to be set up with an IV. But they kept it mobile IV.
Then in the morning I woke up needing to pee bad. I yelled at my poor husband to help me, I was like I am going to pee myself need help with the IV. I was like ohh a little late.... damn already peeing myself. Still went to the bathroom and peed and that is when the real contractions started. I felt like I needed to poop really bad, it hurt, my back was killing me. I was able to poop but it did not relieve the pressure. I waddle out and the nurse said the bed is wet did your water just break. I was like, ooh, that would explain everything if it did, they did a quick test and found out yes my water just broke. They then checked my dilation I was at 5! They said you are now in active labor and they were surprised that they did not need to do the Pitocin this morning like they planned to get me in active labor. I was huge amount of pain in my back. They said it looks like he has not turned around so you are most likely feeling back labor. They also called my doctor to let her know things are progressing faster than expected. I asked for birthing ball to help with the pain and also we wanted to try and get the Marcus turned around. The nurse heads on out to get that. I felt like just when the one nurse went out to get the birthing ball the pain increased a huge amount. The other nurse started coaching me on breathing through the labor and timing it. My DH was getting his hand torn off as I was dealing with the pain. I started curing, yelling, and basically saying how can it be this bad, this early?! How will I be able to handle pushing?! Poor husband. By the time they brought the birthing ball in, I said I want the epi. I wanted to wait longer because once you are on it, you are stuck on the bed, but I felt like I was dieing. I have never experienced pain like that and just fyi I hit a tree ski racing and almost was paralyzed from the waist down. Back labor sucks! I kept crying I was weak, I cannot believe how weak I am, I could not even make it past 5 centimeter dilated. They sent my husband out, they do not allow anyone else there while they do the epi because husbands have been know to pass out with seeing the needle. Getting the needle while having contractions was the worst part. I had to control my body and not move while getting stuck in the back. My contractions were coming to fast to time it inbetween them. My nurse was great she, let me lean on her and just squeeze her as hard as I could while they were setting up my epi. Once the drug hit my system it was like the clouds have parted. I could still move my legs but the major pain was gone. I still felt like I had to do a huge poop but it was a pressure feeling not a I am going to die feeling.
Next they checked my dilation and I was at 7! I went really quick from 5 to 7. They brought me the peanut ball, to put between my legs. The goal was to get Marcus turned around and facing the right way. So during this my nurse would feel me and have me move my legs and turn certain ways to get the baby in the right way. Also she she had me close my eyes and relax for a bit to save my energy for pushing. My mom came in at 8am, she was surprised on how quick everything was going too. Around 10ish the nurse checks and says I am at 9 plus almost 10 and the baby is now in the right spot, yeah! She had us do some practice pushes, to get ready for the real thing and she said it will most likely push me to 10.She also called the doctor letting her know it looks like we will see the baby sooner. She had my mom and my husband grab each help grab my legs to pull back to me when I contract.
After I hit 10, things get real. The doctor and a nurse for the baby come in with the baby warmer. Doctor checks me and says it is time to push for real!! They warn me that the there is nothing they can do about the pain when it comes to the ring of fire but mostly it will just feel a huge pressure and you need to really focus on pushing with muscles for pooping not your face. That is hard to due. They made it so I would at least push 3 times during a contraction and then I get a small break while waiting for the next contraction. There was an issue though, while I was pushing Marcus heart beat was getting low. The doctor gave me Pitocin to help with the contractions to push harder because they wanted Marcus out quickly with the low heart rate. They were afraid he had his cord wrapped around his neck. (Which it was.) One push in particular made them make sure another doctor was ready to go (at the time I did not know this, mom told me later, because the baby's heart beat dropped so low, we think it was the c-section doctor.) The doctor game me a very serious talk, that I had to give a 110% this push, that he is almost out give me everything you got. (Again later I found out if I did not push him out I would have gone to C-section because his heart was dropping to low) I pushed harder then I ever thought I could and then finally Marcus came out. I could not believe it, there he was!!
They quickly wrapped him on my chest and got him crying. I was soo happy... they are not exaggerating the feeling you get when you see your baby for the first time. DH cut the cord and the nurses said it looks like he pooped on you. So yes the first thing my son does on me his poop on me!! It was everywhere and at that point I just did not care. I just kept staring and holding my son. While I was doing that the doctor had me do one last push to get the placenta out. At that point it was soo easy... it do not hurt at all. The nurses took my son and did a quick clean up in the room and weight and measured him and I got to hold him.
He ended up being 8 pounds and 3 ounces and 21 3/4 inches height. Here is our big baby, Marcus, soo perfect.

36+2, vaginal deliveries, 3:48am and an HOUR later at 3:46am. Elizabeth weighed 5.1 and Charlotte was 6.7.
All three of us needed some TLC afterwards. I lost a lot of blood and my bp skyrocketed after delivery. The girls' cord gases showed too much carbon dioxide. They spent 4 days in the NICU for respiratory distress, then to watch E's weight after she dipped to 4.10, then for C to spend time under the photo lights. I was discharged after 3 days and was able to nest the last night.
It was a big surprise when both girls got the all-clear to go home together.
This experience has left my head spinning. I have such different perspectives after spending just the (blessedly) short time in the NICU. It is wonderful to be home and learning our new routine.

Birth Story:
I was sick starting on Sunday with a cold. I couldn't stop coughing. By Tuesday night, I couldn't breathe due to congestion. I coughed so hard on Tuesday that by 2am on Wednesday I couldn't sleep due to a headache. We went to L$D hoping for medicine stronger than Tylenol. They gave me Dilaudid. But they were concerned about my elevated BP. I was admitted to antepartum for monitoring for the day. End of the day Wednesday still showed a high BP but only hypertension levels. The decision for induction was made and we were off to L&D.
Wednesday evening started the miso pill. Labored at 4cm all day Thursday, including being given an epidural . A quick check before inserting a vaginal monitor at 10pm Thursday showed a quick, giant leap to 9cm!
Things got real super fast as the room transformed and gowns were donned. An hour of pushing later, out he came! I did need a 1.5 degree episteotomy to get him iut
We are so in love with him and all our friends and family are thrilled he's here a week early. I swooned he was coming at the end of January and everyone kept saying "first time mom's ALWAYS go late".
Also BP returned to excellent levels after birth. And many docs described his labor as (and this pregnancy) as textbook. Well, um until the end!
We hopefully go home today!
Now that she's a week old I guess I should write this up.
Kirsten Grace arrived on Friday, January 20th, at 11:34 am. I was 38+4 and she was 6 lbs 2 oz and 19.5 inches long.
Everything started off with what was our last regular doctors appointment on Tuesday the 17th and my blood pressure was elevated. It had been great up until then and my urine didn't show protein so my doc wanted me to come in on Thursday to just recheck my bp. On Thursday morning I went to get my nails done with my SIL before going to the doc in the afternoon. I didn't get a chance to grab lunch before my appointment because it took longer so we planned on getting something after our quick check. That didn't happen.
My bp was still elevated at 140/90 but they didn't find protein at the office. My doc sent us up to L&D for labwork and NST, they kept taking my bp and took blood and more urine. My bp was down slightly during the NST but they found protein this time. Because of the protein, even though my bp was only mildly high, it was decided to admit me. We were already planning to induce on Sunday because of GD so it was just moved up a few days.
I was moved to a room and they started pitocin at 4:30 pm, so now I couldn't eat anything (I hadn't eaten since 9:30 that morning). H had to go home to get our bags and the carseat and let the dog out. My SIL got to the hospital after a little bit because she's an L&D nurse so she could help me. Not much happened for awhile, I could feel the contractions but they weren't bad. The nurse asked if I wanted to get an epidural before the anesthesiologist went home, which I thought was way too early so I didn't. At about 8:30 pm my doc came in and broke my water and I was still at 1 cm. That was the weirdest feeling ever! They kept bumping up the pitocin and my contractions got stronger. I used the birthing ball for a little bit and then got some IV pain meds at around midnight so I could relax a bit. That really helped until they bumped the pit up to 9 then I couldn't take the contractions very well. I asked for the epi at 3:30 am and they called the doc in. The doc got there and said I should've gotten it "before I was hurting" but after he placed it her heart rate started dropping a bit so they turned off the pit and gave me oxygen and situated me in bed before having H come back in. H said he didn't like seeing that, it kind of scared him. Everything settled down after a bit, I was at about 2 cm, and they started the pit back up. I was able to sleep for a couple hours and they checked me at 6:45 and I was 2 cm and 100% effaced. At 8 am my doctor came and checked me and I was at 7-8! I started feeling pressure not long after that and started pushing at 9:40 am. After pushing a few times I realized that my epidural had completely worn off and I had such bad pain in my back and right hip. They called the anesthesiologist and he gave me a shot that helped but not completely. I kept pushing and then the shot wore off! My nurse called the doc again and told him I could feel everything so he topped off my epi. The nurse had been calling my doc for awhile now and mentioned him wanting to use the vacuum. I was still pushing and my doc finally got there. She was coming down with every push but not staying. The doctor got set up with the vacuum and she was out 4 pushes later, after 2 hours of pushing. It was such a relief!
H got to cut the cord and my doctor just reached in for the placenta which didn't feel good. She got cleaned up while I got a 2nd degree tear stitched up. She didn't cry much at first but we did an hour of skin to skin before they got her measurements and then she started crying. Her apgar were 8 and 9 and then they moved us to our room. My epi had worn off so much that I was totally able to stand and walk to and from the wheelchair.
We had a little trouble with her latching so the lactation consultant got a nipple shield and she took right to it! She also had a little jaundice but so mild they didn't need to do anything. She then screamed through her whole first bath until they washed her hair, then she loved it. It's still so crazy that she's here and she's mine and I birthed her! Hubby was so sweet and helpful and the family was so happy to be there. We got to go home on Sunday, which was my birthday!

Since the tub slowed down my contractions I wasn't able to have a waterbirth, but I did use it twice for laboring in and also used the shower for my back pretty frequently. My water didn't break until really late in labor, which I'm told is super common in first time moms and it helps create pressure and keep things moving along. I feel extremely blessed for how smoothly and quickly things went.
Overall, it was a pretty average birth. Aria came out with a nuchal hand and a short cord, but those aren't uncommon. The only unique thing that happened with her birth was that after the midwife had Max cut the cord, one of the student midwives tugged too hard on the cord still attached to my placenta and it broke off, so I had to deliver the placenta without someone guiding it out. I didn't tear so I'm really doing well right now. I feel great! Guess those perineal massages worked!

I had been having early labor symptoms since 1/30 which started with my bloody show. Random contractions here and there but nothing that seemed to be doing anything. Lots of lower pelvic pressure and what felt like period cramps down low began 1/31. Starting timing the cramps because they started to get stronger that evening and wouldn't go away. Arrived at the birth center at around 12:30a 2/1. Got a cervix check right away and was surprised to learn I was at 7cm 70% effaced. Contractions became more frequent and stronger at times but I stalled out and wouldn't dilate past 8 so the midwife made the decision to break my water. Took ages because apparently the amniotic sac was TOUGH. She expected to be able to break it easily and spent a good 20 mins. Once my water was broken I got in the birthing tub and contractions became much more harder to bear. It was about an hour and I was ready to start pushing. Took about 30 mins of pushing and baby swam his way out at 8:24am.
We stayed at the birth center until around 3p and went home. I didn't tear at all and feel quite well. I didn't do anything special to avoid tearing or anything. I don't even have pain when peeing and I'm not all that sore. I am having tightness when trying to breath if I'm up to often so I'm taking it as easy as possible with a newborn and a 4yr old. Compared to my first birth, this is completely different. I have a tad bit swelling down there but it's not bad.
Abigail (Abby) is here! 8lb 4oz. 19in. Very uneventful 3rd time c-section. This was probably the most aware I've been during a c-section, so that was awesome! She is so beautiful and we just can't get enough of her! C-section recovery is not so easy, but she's definitely worth it all!

Recovery hasn't been the easiest for either of us though. He had initial issues with hypoglycemia, and I had excessive bleeding following delivery. We are hoping to get some rest today!

labor started Sat evening around 5 pm with contractions about five mins apart. Around 8 they progressed to every three minutes and were getting pretty strong and uncomfortable. I called L&of who advised I come in. I got there and was 2 cm dilated and contractions slowed, but were still strong when they came. I walked unit for an hour to stimulate more contractions, was rechecked and no change. I opted not to start Pitocin so they sent me home to labor more thinking I'd be back in a few hours. I went home, contractions slowed even more but were very strong. Over night and all the next day I would experience contractions ranging from. every 3 minutes to every thirty minutes. On Sunday around 6 I was so physically exhausted from the pain and contractions I called L&D who advised I come in to be checked. I got there and had dilated to 5 cm and was admitted. I got an epidural and the OB ruptured my water. They anticipated I would deliver quickly. About an hour later contractions slowed, no further dilation so they started Pitocin. About an hour later several nurses and the OB ran into my room saying the baby's heart rate dropped and began turning me side to side, putting me in trendelenberg and putting legs in the air. I was started on oxygen and finally her heart rate recovered. I was still at 6 cm dilated. The OB said if the baby had one more episode of dropped heart rate I would be taken for emergency C-section. A nurse suggested I use a peanut ball to encourage dilation. About an hour after that I was fully dilated and ready to push! After 35 mins of pushing I had my sweet baby girl.
Apologies for how lengthy this is, typos and/grammatical errors. I'm currently exhausted and cotton brained! But super happy and so in love!
Willow Rey was born on February 7th at 7:45am, 6lbs 7oz and 20 inches long.
Birth story:
I woke up at 5am and called the labor & delivery unit to ensure they had a bed available for my induction. They did, so we got packed up, headed to the hospital. We got there around 7 or so and got check in and settled into our room. The plan was to do cervical ripening and then get to the point to start pitocin. We started the first round of cervical ripening around 8:30 which takes about 4 hours to work fully. It changed me from a fingertip to a solid 1cm and 40% effaced. They started my second round of ripening at 1:00 and checked me around 5:30 and I was pretty much thinned out and at 2cm. They decided to skip the ripening for a third time and start pitocin. We started the pitocin around 7pm and bumped it up every 30mins. I was kind of feeling contractions at this point but they weren't yet painful. Mostly I was just tired from having a cold for four days prior and not sleeping well. I tried taking naps on and off during the day, but I just couldn't fall asleep. Checked me again at 10:45pm and I was a 2-3cm. The contractions were getting a little worse, but not enough to get me over the fear of having my epidural just yet. By about 11:30, they came to check me. I was 3cm so they went ahead and broke my water. Contractions picked up a bit more and I got the epidural a little before 1am. I started stalling at about a 3 throughout the night and DD2 started to be in distress a bit which prompted the doctor to mention c-section if I couldn't progress more or if she got overly stressed. The nurse brought in a peanut ball which helped me start dilating more and I was a 6 by about 5:30am. Thankfully from 1-5, I was able to snooze in between all the waking ups from the nurse trying to reposition me and get me in a good spot where baby is happy and she could raise the pitocin levels a bit. I used a peanut ball and repositioning to keep on getting dilated. I jumped up from a 6 to a 10 pretty quickly after that. Unfortunately right at the end my epidural wore off a bit so I could feel some pain. I started pushing around 7:20 and and she was born at 7:35am. Willow Rey is 6lbs 7oz and 20inches long. She looks JUST like her older sister when she was born and we're so in love!
I was feeling pretty crampy all day on Monday, but didn't really think too much of it since I wasnt due until the 14th and everyone has been telling me I'll probably go late. Around 4:30 pm contractions started becoming somewhat timeable. I decided to distract myself by repainting the trim in the living room and cooking dinner. Contractions were about 10 minutes apart at first then went straight to 2 minutes apart. I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible so I jumped in the shower to try and get ready. They now got to be very painful and I told my H it was time to go.
Got to the hospital just after midnight and was already 5cm. I really wanted to go med free, but at about 2:30am I couldn't take it anymore and got the epidural. Tried to rest after that but was awoken by nurses rushing in the room at 5am because the babies levels were low and they started me on oxygen for about 30 minutes. They checked me again at about 6:30am and I was 10cm and fully effaced. Doctor came in at 8:30 and we started pushing. Pushed for almost a full 3 hours (ugh!) before Senna decided to make her appearance. I had a 1st degree tear, just one stitch, but barely any swelling considering how long I was pushing. We are all doing great and couldn't be happier!
I was having tons of Braxton hicks all day Monday so I went for a long walk and bounced all day long on the yoga ball. Very early Tuesday morning I woke up to a bloody show with contractions directly following. They started to get strong and timetable around 9am so we headed to l&d. I was at a 4 and was admitted and got my epi. All was fine for a while then it stopped working on one side. They fixed that problem but I could still feel my contractions which were tolerable. Around 3pm my water broke and the epi wore off completely. My contractions were coming about a minute apart and I went from 6cm to 10 very fast. I pushed for 6 mins and he was born just before 4pm. My dr didn't even deliver me because she didn't get there in time which was a bummer. I did not plan to deliver unmediated and was not prepared for that to happen so it was a lot for me to handle but he is worth it.
