So I went back for my BP taking schedule. I guess my BP is some word I can't remember which means it's all over the place so I have to take it three times a day. No one thinks I will make it to 2/2 but now I'm like back to being like a surprise game of when I'm having a baby.
Had my 37 week appointment today and did the Strep B swab and she also did a sweep (somewhat impromptu, but of course I ok'd it). Doc confirmed my cervix felt just a tad open, but still posterior and she didn't want to push it too much since I've still got 3 days left of work next week and would be nice to have some time to myself before this baby comes! That said, since I'm hoping for a VBAC, an earlier baby might be better (smaller). Going back next week for another sweep
@PerraSucia, sorry for all the crazy BP stuff you have going on. I just hope you and baby stay okay throughout. I saw the picture of your foot/ankle in the symptoms thread you poor thing. I'm sorry you have to deal with all that.
@lfrank12, I'm so glad to hear everything looked good with baby's heart that's awesome news. Hope everything continues on the right path.
@sawyerrichardson, good for you for changing doctors this late in the game since your last one sucked. I'm seriously impressed by that!
My doctor told me starting next week at 36 weeks and then every week until baby is born, I need to go for weekly ultrasounds as well as my regular checkups. She said because I'm so fat (the word she used was 'big') the baby could lose oxygen quickly or my fluid levels could start to drop too low. Um... okay. No BP issues, no GD with repeated testing, several growth ultrasounds, etc. anyway
@perrasucia, nope. Every time I hear, "fluid levels look great as does everything else!" I mean, it's nice I will get to see the baby, but this just seems so excessive. I really think she's just super grossed out by my weight. The sad part is, I've gained only half of what I did during my first two pregnancies. My H said if she says anything next week when he's there with me, she's going to hear about it from him.
@PerraSucia I'm sorry to hear about your BP issues! Hopefully with some rest you'll be able to manage it a little longer. I know if I even just sit upright my bp skyrockets, but as soon as I lay back down, it goes back to normal ranges.
@Jab3 I'm sorry your doctor is being rude! That's really uncalled for.
Just throwing this out there, I have GD and my doctor has not done another U/S since the anatomy scan He only did a handheld for a few seconds to see if she was head down. I have no idea how big she is either...
Had my 34 week appointment yesterday after having to reschedule from Wednesday. Because of the contractions I've been having he did a cervical check and I'm not dialated any. This is good since I still need to make it about another month or so. All the pain I've been having in my lower pelvic area is from a UTI. I've never had one so I never would of thought that would be causing me so much pain. Got some antibiotics and hopefully it clears up and the pain goes away quickly. I'll have my GBS test in 2 weeks and then start my every week appointments.
We're in super busy mode at work, so I haven't been around for the last few weeks. At 35 weeks last week, baby's estimated weight was about 5.5 lbs and I was about fingertip dilated. At my 36 week appt yesterday I was about 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced.
Everything has been checking out well, but I had a really bad swelling day yesterday which has my Dr. concerned. I go back Monday for my 37 week appt and she said if I'm dilated to 4+ or if my swelling is still bad, she'll be sending me to the hospital.
35 week appointment during lunch. Except that they forgot me in the CTG room (30 min planned turned into 60+ min) which I would have been fine with (yay nap!) but I had a crapload to stuff to do at work.
Dr said baby is way down there but cervix is still closed up tight. Which is good, because SO is only coming like 5 days before EDD. LO really, really needs to stay put until the 11th. Size estimate is just shy of 6 lbs.
So, had a BPP today instead of doing a growth scan and NST. Baby got 8/8 on her BPP and she looks great! She is swallowing, practicing breathing, moving a lot and her kidneys/heart/etc look good.
I'm 35 wks today and as long as blood sugars stay in check they'll let her cook until February and I'm closer to 40 wks. My only concern is she is 6lbs 12 oz*!! 91st percentile. Officially a huge baby. <<starts to worry abt this pain med free vaginal birth I want>>
*I know ultrasounds can be off by up to 2lbs... But still....
@Gretchypoo@PerraSucia My baby has a huge head, just like is dad - head is in the 90th percentile, weight in the 66th. Hopefully once the head squeezes through the rest will be a breeze
@perrasucia my thoughts are with you! Actually after like my fifth month, waxing started to not hurt as much... Like back to normal pain level instead of the crazy ridiculous pain level it was during the 1st tri.
@PerraSucia wow! i admire your courage. I'm not that brave. I'm shaving my legs regularly still and I'm gonna have H help me trim at some point but for now, full 70s bush and no shame.
Omg I normally sugar and did hot wax this time and it felt lIke lava on my vageen.
But I had stopped at like 24 weeks because it was hurting so much and just using trimmers but figured theyre going to shave me anyway so I should just wax to not have the extra itch
Duh, forgot my actual appt. update from yesterday - met the 2nd midwife at the practice, she was lovely! Super nice, very relaxed, and my BP was still good. She had me lie down, and felt for baby's position. One, it's super impressive she can tell what anything is in there. I have tried to feel once our twice out of curiosity, and I'm all, "It's a lump!" Two, he is not only still head down, but my spinning babies efforts to rotate him to the left seem to have worked! I'm not sure that he's all the way left yet, but she said he is more left than centered/right.
Also, I have to give so much credit that these midwives seem supportive no matter what path your birth takes. Everyone at this office is just so darn positive, and I'm very happy about it!
@WinchesterGirl I'm happy that you are having such a positive experience with your midwives!! My first 2 kids I had awful experiences with the groups and hospitals. This time seems better so far, and I'm a lot more relaxed (minus the pump crap). Oh and with guessing baby parts, I was shocked at my 28 week ultrasound to hear that his butt is way up at my rib cage and his belly/back is by my belly button. The tech moved the wand over all the baby parts and told me what was where so now I feel like I can get better guesses. Like when I feel a small knobby on my lower left side, I'm guessing it's his elbow. And the big bump at my belly button is his back or belly which is funny because since I though it was his butt I'd poke it to get him to move, but now I feel bad that I was potentially jabbing his belly lol
I've been so astounded by people's ability to figure out little wee parts just by touch. I admit my baby has been seriously manhandled, because my husband is a GP, and I keep asking him "What is THIS?" when I feel a little poke or jab. He pokes around a little and then shows me "here's his bum, this here is his back, you're getting a foot in your rib cage." We've figured out he doesn't mind his back, legs, and bum being handled, but when we try to confirm his head position, he will try and swat our hands away... I guess we might be getting a little too close to his face!
37 week appointment today. Growth scan and NST first both which were consistent with previous. On the small side still, estimated at 5lbs 15oz. Found out this week I am GBS+ which is my first time out of the 4. At least 2cm dialated and around 25% effaced. When my OB went to check station baby jumped away and made my OB crack up laughing. I could feel it too. She was not happy to feel something on her head. Overall good appointment. I was supposed to go to a friends baby shower this weekend, but since I am progressing and GBS + told to not go. It's more the 1.5hr drive away from the hospital that she isn't thrilled about. I am fine just mailing the present though would have loved to see people. Now to have a relaxing weekend!
So much this. Haha @gretchypoo, don't feel bad, mine was predicted around the same size when I hit 34 weeks. What Perra said really is true though, it's more about the head circumference than anything lol
