BFP slightly lighter this morning with FMU than yesterday afternoon... help! 4w6d

Hey everyone, I got my BFP at 18dpo (didn't test before that) yesterday. (Top test)
I took it about 1pm.

This morning I took the second test in the pack with FMU, and it looks a little lighter to me. Not faint per say, but lighter.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, was it a bad sign? I'm pretty worried.

Thanks in advance!!

  • @angeladowns1 I'm pretty sure a line is a line and the darkness can be due to the amount of dye in the test.

  • I've had experience with First Response not getting darker each day like they did with my first pregnancy 2 years ago.
I know it's hard, but I wouldn't freak out just yet. You never know how diluted your urine was when you took the tests. Have you called your ob yet?
  • @angeladowns1 I'm not positive but if anything was wrong I believe it would take a while to show on a test.  Relax and stay calm, this has happened to me and I've seen the line vary from at to day darker, lighter, darker.   I just bought a digital to verify bc I've heard they aren't as sensitive, so it made me rest easier.  I'm not a doctor but I don't think you gave anything to worry about
  • Lurking from another BMB... Just wanted to say that the same thing happened to me two days apart when I was early in pregnancy and I drove myself crazy trying to compare the darkness of lines only to find out that there are way too many reasons why the lines don't get darker - and 99% of them don't have anything to do with your pregnancy. I'm 31w now and baby is happily kicking me as I type this, so nothing was wrong at all - I just worried about nothing. Once you get that positive, it's best to stop taking pregnancy tests - they just end up being a source of anxiety. Do yourself the kindness of not taking tests anymore - trust your body and your doctor. Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!
  • Thank you ladies so much for taking the time to respond! I just took another and thought it was even lighter at first and was crushed, but after a few minutes it looks good ish still? What do you guys think, I don't have the other two on hand... does it look lighter to you?

  • It looks the same to me if I'm being honest... I think you are overthinking this way too much.
  • @angeladowns1 like another PP ( @JustAnotherUsername16 ) I am a lurker from another BMB.  I had this same problem when I started.  My first BFP was uber faint and my first hcg was low.  I took another HPT just to "make sure it got darker" the night before my next hcg draw.  Well the bad news was it seemed lighter to me and I flipped out!  The great news was when I got my next hcg it had tripled from 2 days before.  At that point I realized it was time to stop checking HPT and comparing lines. I'm now 20 weeks.  I know from experience it's super hard to stop worrying but checking and re checking HPT's will just make you worry more (just like it's doing to you now).  Congratulations on your pregnancy and try to enjoy it!
  • Thank you ladies! I lost my first babe at 12 weeks, had a healthy baby 2 years ago and then had a super weird chemical pregnancy (no + until 5 weeks, was SUPER faint, and then bled the next day) a year ago. So I feel like I've had such a mixed bag with pregnancy. This definitely seems way more promising than my chemical last year at least. Hopefully this baby sticks! I've also found several forums that complain about progression on the newer FRER's with pictures of their HCG and tests, and the lines not "progressing" even when the HCG is. Hopefully that's just what I'm experiencing!
  • I've noticed that the longer a test sits there, the darker the line gets (to a certain point). It could just be because of that
