Wednesday ticker change

Since the person doing the Wednesday ticker change will no longer be with us, I figured I'd start one. Would anyone like to take over in the future? I'm already doing another thread and would like to just stick to the one.

This thread is for those with an EDD of Aug 2, Aug 9, Aug 16, Aug 23, Aug 30

Upcoming appointments this week?  Tomorrow! :)

Any new symptoms or changes? Nausea is getting worse and I am having some food aversions.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm just trying to get through the days here. I feel so sick, I am thankful I have an office to run to when I feel like crap.

GTKY: What do you like to do to relax? I like to get massages and watch TV with wine, sigh.

Upcoming appointments this week?  Had one yesterday that turned into a four hour appointment since OB did not hear HB on fetal Doppler.  It was terrifying.  Super paranoid now, but at least our fears are allayed. I don't wish that experience on any other woman/ couple. An ultrasound and some bloodwork later and baby was fine.

NT scan in two weeks and geneticist appt. Is currently in process of being scheduled.

Any new symptoms or changes? I may have a blood clotting disorder called Von Willibrands (sp?) Since my identical twin does.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  How does one decide VBAC and repeat C-section.  Trying to weigh pros and cons of each which seem equal. Gah!!!  Why does OB need to drop that on us at first appointment?!

GTKY: What do you like to do to relax? Lately  Read, nap, tv.  This baby is kicking my butt.  If I didn't have a toddler I would sleep half the day.

  • @jpearl2307, I hear you on the food aversions.  If it is a meat or veggie and I smell it, I am done.  This baby is essentially living off some carbs, yogurt, a few nuts and fruit.

  • @Lauradi1010 I'm overboard here with the same decision of VBAC vs RCS and I don't know how I'll make the decision either. Since we haven't announced yet, I haven't asked my friends their experiences yet but that will be one of the first things I do. I have friends that have done both. I don't like remembering my csection recovery and imagining a 3 yr old bouncing on me makes me cringe. But then I think of a VBAC and the potential complications there and I just get so confused. If you come up with a good way of deciding, let me know! :)

  • @bumpybump and @Lauradi1010 sometimes the baby chooses for you.  I was planning to VBAC (my doctor had examined me and decided that it would all right if I tried to VBAC,) DD2 didn't turn and was still breech at 39 weeks.  My doctor wouldn't try to turn her due to me having a previous c section, so I ended up with a repeat c section.

That being said, I am still a little disappointed that I didn't get to try to have a vaginal birth.  I was terrified of trying to VBAC and end up with another c section.  The RCS recovery and experience  was a million times better for me than the emergency one.

I do have friends who have successfully had a VBAC.  I also have a couple friends who tried to VBAC and ended up with another section.

Whichever way you guys end up deciding, good luck!  I personally do not think there is a right or a wrong and it is a huge decision.

  • @bumpybump and @Lauradi1010 I would also check out the VBAC and c section boards, as well as look to see if there are any ICAN chapters in your area.  It is definitely a discussion that should happen with your doctor.

  • @bumpybump, good to know I am not alone.  Immediate family knows, but that is all.  Most of my friends had repeat CS, but haven't talked to them about it with this pregnancy.  It was only discussed after the PTSD/ PPD conversations after my first.

I am also torn on the breastfeeding issue since last time was such a nightmare.  Severe dropping weight newborn issues, baby never latched and I never seemed to make more than 3-6 oz a day, so we had to supplement/ formula feed.

Can't wait to tell a few friends/ more family members, but we are waiting a few more weeks to do so. My sister isn't telling her kids because they will tell my other friends and/or family members.  My niece was more excited with her cousin than when her sister was born four months before.

  • @hupp0013 I definitely agree it can still be up to the child. Heck, my csection was up to DD when she refused to drop after almost 3 hrs of pushing. :) I just need to make a decision prior to LOs arrival especially since it also determines which hospital I'll deliver at (I like both but have to inform the OB). I honestly don't feel I'll be upset with whichever delivery I have.  Both have risks and I just need to be as informed as I can be.

  • @Lauradi1010 Oh my goodness! I hope it ends soon! i found that carbonated drinks help me from needing to throw up so much. I am glad your appointment turned out okay! That does sound terrifying! I am sorry you had to go through that.

how far along: 9 weeks (yesterday)

How big is baby: no idea

Upcoming appointments this week: none, u/s next week at 10 weeks and then 12 weeks.

Any new symptoms changes: not reall. more nauseous this week it seems so far. Food aversions vary by the day.

Rants/raves/questions: People annoy me too, mostly at work. People attacking via text and email before I even get there in the morning is annoying. No, I don't have a trust fund & live two blocks from the office, I get in at 8:30 like everyone else, because you can get in before me doesn't mean you can harrass me about things YOU missed in your email & catch a majorly condescending attitude with me at 7:30am on my way in.

Relax? Hmmm, if I weren't terrified this pregnancy and PGAL.. I absolutely love to run. I did the NYCM in November but stopped stopped running when I got my bfp. I'm hoping once I'm 12 weeks I get the confidence to jump back in after 8 weeks off (slowly jump back in).

@Lauradi1010 I had that same exact thing happen at my 10 week appt (for a baby we had lost which u/s confirmed after the Doppler) and this time I won't let them do the Doppler - I have an u/s that morning instead.  It's a horrible process though, I don't wish it on anyone either. I don't understand why they insist on using fickle dopplers that early, when most of the time it causes extreme worry & stress when everything is ok.

  • Our wonderful u/s technician didn't seem thrilled that the OBs keep trying to hear the HB on fetal doppler despite all the new "technological advances".  I can't imagine what that poor woman deals with at work on a daily basis.  We were both a wreck.  Even after the good news my husband was shaking.
