Re: How are you preparing for FET?

  • I plan on doing that also for the ivf cycle...and cutting down/out alcohol. my husband read up on some of it and said that all the foods recommended for both ivf and FET are very similar to the mediterranean diet, so for the next few motnhs we'll be following a modified version of that, i think...

and i also just bought a large bottle of pom juice! (though, the whole foods one, Knudsen's "just pomegranate"....i like to cut it with sparkling water!

  • I will be on the same path with the diet and the pom juice. I love cutting it with the sparkling water :)

  • I don't mind the core that much! I cut the core into 5 sections (to eat for 5 days) and then each section into quarters so it's manageable. I find it easier to eat if it's been out of the fridge for 5-10 min and I'll eat it with a normal slice too. It's tough but I don't find it that bitter. You could also prob throw it in a smoothie!

After transfer I've also read walnuts or Brazil nuts for 5 days to help with implantation. I've done walnuts and the pineapple core after each IUI and transfer and haven't had a success yet, but I don't mind any of that food and it helps me mentally think I have some sort of control following transfer (even though I know it really doesn't matter what we do).

  • back to the pom juice, i know they say to drink it before an transfer to build up the lining, but does anyone know if it's also beneficial (nutrients-wise) before an egg retrieval?
  • I'm also doing Mediterranean diet. Reading It Statts with the Egg now and trying to add some suggestions from that book into daily life for IVF in early feb.

Pom juice I've heard it helps with lining but haven't heard any connection to retrieval yet?

Pineapple core helps with implantation (the bromine) Trader Joes has these little chews you can eat instead to get the same benefits.

  • @brela11 I am going to look at Trader Joe's for those chews.

I just read It Starts with the Egg. Lots of good info. I added COQ10 and melatonin to my daily vitamins because of that book.

  • @bestofjoy I just did a natural cycle for the first time and it apparently worked! I was on Letrozole to promote ovulation, because sometimes I skip cycles.  I will tell you, it's so nice not to have to be on PIO! After transfer I did start a Lovonox (blood thinner) injection that is not fun at all.  Super happy my RE decided to try a natural cycle.  He changed his mind from medicated to natural very last minute, after he went to a conference where studies showed natural cycles are increasing chances of implantation.

  • @rainbowwishes5 I didn't know either! I was like no PIO?! What the heck why doesn't everyone do this! They say REs don't like natural uncles because they don't have control over timing.  Luckily my clinic is open 365 so timing doesn't matter as much.   It couldn't hurt to ask!

  • PP is right @rainbowwishes5  It also depends on how your hormones respond naturally.  I'm not on Lovenox bc of the natural cycle, my RE just wanted to add in a blood thinner because we couldn't pin point why I had to failed transfers.  Lovenox burns like hell and bruises badly!
