March 2017 Moms

PGAL Check In 1/2

Sorry for the late check in post- I have the day off today and have been pretty busy, this is the first moment I've been able to get on the computer!

This is for all our March moms who have experienced a loss- we are here to support one another! 3

1. How far along are you?

2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?

3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:

4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year?

Re: PGAL Check In 1/2

  • 1. How far along are you? 30 weeks 6 days

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Baby shower in a couple weeks and DH is going to take our maternity photos soon. Hoping to finish the nursery shortly!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Baby cooperated with our 3D/4D ultrasound last week thankfully- I feel like she looks like me but its so hard to tell. Just made me want to meet her even more. So amazing all the things they are doing while inside of you and we have no idea- we saw her yawn, stick her tongue out and give a little smile.

Trying not to let movement/lack of movement freak me out too much!

    4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year? I'm really looking forward to my in-laws visiting in May, they will be staying with us for 3 weeks (they live in Germany) and it will have been 2 years since we've seen them. I know DH misses them a lot and with the baby being here too I hope it will be even more special. Also celebrating all the holidays with our new expanded family will be fun!

  • Hi! I'm back after a few days away from the computer!

    1. How far along are you? 28 weeks 5 days

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Baby shower on the 28th! Also hoping to get maternity photos at some point, but the weather is not working well with us! Seems like every weekend I think we could get them done seems to have rain in the mix.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: We had a growth scan on the 29th and Baby is right on track! He's also head down at the moment so I'm going to sign up for birthing classes! I've been feeling a lot of kicks the past two weeks and started kick counting. He's very active which makes me happy!

    4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year? Wearing my normal clothes again. I know it will take some time, but I really miss my old clothes! Ha ha

  • @sarahbobbysorry that mother nature doesn't seem to want to cooperate with you - I hope you get your photos soon! And I totally feel you about the desire to wear my old clothes again - as comfy as maternity clothes are, my wardrobe is so limited right now!
    @Spartanrd4
I'm glad you had such a great ultrasound experience - I bet she DOES look like you! Also, how exciting to have your in laws visit for a few weeks and meet the baby! Isn't it great to have good in laws? It makes a world of difference...

    ? 29w4d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? I have a growth scan later today, so that will be nice!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Yesterday, my best friend (who is exactly 2 weeks farther along than I am and also part of this BMB) had her twins. As I was driving to the hospital to see her and meet the babies in the NICU, I started having serious anxiety and heart palpitations - it felt like a panic attack. Her going into labor reminded me how grossly unprepared I am right now and how little control I have over this pregnancy. Luckily, the babies are both thriving well although they will be in the NICU for several weeks at this point. I can't believe in such a miraculous time I am allowing myself to get so caught up in my own head.

    4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year? My parents are moving across the country and I am ecstatic! It will be the first time in over a decade that we will live in the same state together and I am so excited that this baby will be raised closer to her grandparents.
  • @justanotherusername16 I didn't know you two were. IRL BFFs.  How cool!  I am praying for the twins!!  I have fear that my lady will come early and I will be ill prepared.

@sarahbobby Yay for great growth check!   Glad your baby is head down & hopefully he stays that way!  My girl was basically transverse in a c at my growth check today!

@Spartanrd4 your experience at the 4D makes me want to splurge and get one at some point. Seeing what she is actually doing in there would be so cool!  I am also trying not to let myself get too obsessed about the movements.  I need to talk with the OB about expectations for kick counts at my visit on Friday.  All I know I read on the interwebs....

    1. How far along are you? 28w

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?  Nursery furniture and some accessories I have ordered arriving!  Also my shower on Feb 18th.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  Lady bug would no cooperate during the US this afternoon.  All we saw was the needed parts to measure and the back of her head.  Were it not for the pic of her hair we got to take home I would be even more sad.  The girl has some hair going on.

    4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year?   I can't wait for 2017 holidays now.  I think they will be so much more fun with a LO.  Also looking forward to being allowed to get back to strength training & not having to hold back in workouts.

  • haha yes, @MrsBinPA we are IRL best friends - met in high school, maids of honors in each other's weddings, in each other lives for over a decade, matching tattoos - the whole nine yards. Although we didn't at all plan to get pregnant at the same time - that was nothing short of a miracle. She had tried for years to conceive and I had a miscarriage... the fact that our pregnancies actually ended up lining up together has to be God's work...

Also, I didn't even think about how exciting holidays will be in 2017!!! I can't wait to start family traditions together :)
  • PGAL brain got the best of me this morning when I woke up at 4am with cramping and went to the hospital. It was nothing and I'm fine but I had a break down with ugly cry and body sweat in the room I was admitted in because it was the same exact room where I was told my last child no longer had a heartbeat. Everything is fine and I was released around 8ish and just got to work. I guess 2017 is starting out eventful for me.
  • @mcdonald-bailey I am so sorry...  can't imagine being back in that room was easy at all. I'm glad you and LO are ok at least... If you need anything, let us know. I said a quick prayer for you.
  • @JustAnotherUsername16 thank you. I feel better now. Baby looks like she's cooking pretty good in there so I'm at ease now. I just have the playback of when I called to L&D about going in on a Sunday and they told me to just take Imodium then when I finally went in later in the week I got that bad news. So I always feel like it was my fault for not just going in when I felt something was wrong in the previous pregnancy.

  • @mcdonald-bailey (before I say this, I want to recognize that it is WAY easier to say to someone else than it is to believe/convince yourself...) you just can't do that to yourself. You can't blame yourself for something that was this devastating that you can't control. You did what you were supposed to do - that loss, as heartbreaking as it was, was unfortunately out of your control.
  • @mcdonald-bailey So sorry for your scare- I would feel the exact way you do, hugs...we are here for you anytime!
  • @mcdonald-bailey I'm so glad all was Ok.  That must have been just horrible though.  All the hugs

  • 1. How far along are you? 32 weeks

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? The baby shower in 2 weeks so we can officially finish setting up his room! (We built the crib and bassinet last week and I feel so much better.)

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Well... I've been waiting on a genetic counseling appointment ever since finding out I'm a carrier for Fragile X Syndrome. It wasn't the most encouraging ever. Basically there's a 30% chance any of my children, including this baby, could have the full disease, which includes mental retardation, autistic behavior, some physical traits like long face and big ears, and potentially seizures. So we have big decisions to make and a lot of potential life dreams could die out/change... like, if this baby has Fragile X and needs extreme care, is he the only baby we can realistically ever have? (There's a 50% chance he inherited my healthy X chromosome, which is what I'm praying hard for.) If not and we can try for the 2nd baby like we'd always planned, do we take that 30% chance again or do we attempt to save up for IVF/embryo testing, which... I don't understand how anyone affords. Aaaaaah so much :(

    4. GTKY: It's a brand new year! Besides having our rainbow babies of course, anything else you are looking forward to this year? Um, this sounds selfish, but the 12 week maternity leave I'm taking off from work with NO ESSAYS TO GRADE is going to be so awesome. I love my job but I will happily trade those essays for some time off changing poopy diapers and bonding with my son!
... and also... the new Star Wars movie. haha.

  • @mcdonald-bailey I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Memories are powerful and being in the same room as such a bad memory would be rough. I'm happy to hear that baby is doing well, though!! Hang in there.

  • @Spartanrd4 My doctor doesn't do the 4D ultrasounds, and I didn't think I was interested, but... little smiles and tongue stick outs?? Awww!! Maybe I'll be looking into that after all!

  • @McDonald-bailey I'm so sorry that you had to go through that yesterday, but I'm happy to hear that your LO is doing well. Being in that room had to be difficult. I hope you are feeling better today.

@MrsBinPA I'm also looking forward to pushing myself in workouts again. I miss that feeling!

@justanotherusername16 I've been having some anxiety lately about the baby and feel like I have so much yet to do before he gets here!

  • @EnglishTeacherMama my doctor doesn't do 3D/4D ultrasounds either so I did this elective one at one of those ultrasound boutiques for fun. They said the best time to do it is between 27-32 weeks because after that it gets more cramped in there and may be hard to see but you could try to sneak in there if you are interested in taking a look. It was totally worth the money :)
  • @Spartanrd4 Do you mind if I ask how much something like that cost you? I want one SOOO badly, but not sure I have the extra money lying around (unless I am underestimating how much it cost which would be a happy surprise!)
  • @JustAnotherUsername16 if you can do it I would suggest it at least for one child. I did it with my last 2 pregnancies. Won't do it with this one but it's a nice experience.
  • @JustAnotherUsername16 I paid $85...the session was 25-30 minutes and I got a CD with the video of the session and 2 bigger color prints and some black and white ones too. I'm sure prices vary from place to place and there are different packages too where price may differ.
  • Yea that might just be worth it!
  • @justanotherusername16 I think the 3D/4D place near me charges a similar rate & gives you the video CD and pics and whatnot too.

I may break down and do it too.  Just not sure when.  I have another growth check at 34w.  Not sure if I should do it before or after!

  • @mcdonald-bailey I'm so sorry you had to go through that and cannot begin to imagine the emotions you are feeling as you get closer to the same gestation week as when you lost your baby girl. I'm glad all is well and am hoping 2017 lets you relax a bit before your healthy rainbow arrives!

@EnglishTeacherMama Amen to taking a break from grading and other teacher duties! The start of the second semester for me has been craptastic for admin-related reasons and am already feeling extremely behind on prep as a result. I'm looking so incredibly forward to just focusing on my baby! She'd have to be the literal spawn of the devil to get me wishing I was at school rather than being at home with her.
