I was feeling great until last night hit! I had the WORST back pain last night! I was starting to think something was wrong. Reminded me of the start of the pain I had when I had the bladder/kidney infection with Max. For about a half hour, I had to sit up, crossed leg, with pillows piled on my lap, so I could bend my back and stretch over them. I almost fell asleep like that until DH woke up and told me I was taking up too much room in our KING size bed! Murder flashed in my eyes for a good 30 seconds... So glad it went away and I was able to sleep after being awake for over 2 hours!! Gonna keep an eye on it though and if it flares back up, I'm gonna call the dr. At least maybe they can just get me into the lab to pee in a cup and check for an infection.
I've been feeling pretty well other than heartburn and RLP and back pain. The RLP is vicious and I'm struggling to walk some days. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do much of any exercising until this boot is off, and by then I'm afraid I'll be too big to start anything back up again. Just working on my arms I guess and trying to walk despite the pelvic and foot pain so I can keep the blood pumping.
Back to having trouble sleeping again, thanks to the heartburn, difficultly breathing laying down, and random insomnia.
I thought I had experienced RLP before but oh no, I was so very wrong. This pain is intense and the waddle has started. Four more months. I can do this!
Please talk to me about RLP...I never had it with my first and I think that's what I'm having now, but I feel like my left ovary is trying to explode very sporadically. Can anyone who also experiences ovulation pain compare the two for me?
@lovelongdog06 I get bad ovary pain. That's how I know what side I ovulate on. Haha. I would say it's similar though ovulation is usually one spot, and I've found the RLP lately to be over a length of several inches from crotch to mid belly on one side or the other. However, I've had pain around my ovary area more than once this pregnancy and I don't know if that was RLP or not. Comes and goes.
@HGRich I hear you with the sleeping difficulties... I can't remember the last time I slept through the night without heartburn waking me up. Tums have become my new best friend.
Ugh Im needing to vent a bit today. My sciatic nerve pain is back and I'm feeling so much pressure in my groin... sorry if that's TMI. I actually went to my OB office this afternoon because I was scared I might be dialating with all of the pressure I'm feeling, but luckily she said no. I'm 26 weeks on friday, baby is already dropping down and I don't remember feeling this sore until much closer to my due date the last time around.
Any other 2nd or 3rd time moms feeling like things are progressing more rapidly this pregnancy? Right now I don't feel like I'm making it to 40 weeks... (trying to stay positive and make it at least 10 more weeks!)
hope me everyone else is feeling okay as we near the last trimester!
@HGRich thanks, that description helps. It starts like ovulation pain and then radiates, but it's always from the one side. My midwife suspects RLP but is checking in on me in case we decide its worse or not subsiding so she can order an ultrasound. I've considered it could be a cyst or even possibly adhesions since I've had a c section.
My tailbone! When I bend over and stand back up the pain is so intense I find myself yelling out in pain. What the hell is this? It seems to be right at my tailbone and not necessarily my whole back.

Same here with the pressure! I told DH this weekend that when I squatted down to take a picture of DD, there was so much pressure I wouldn't be surprised to feel baby's head. The pressure and soreness I am feeling now didn't come around until the last few days before delivering DD so 16 more weeks of this feels daunting. We've got this though and maybe all this pressure means baby will be ready when it's go time and labor & delivery will be a breeze! I'm going for anything to get through this discomfort.
I can sympathize with the insomnia. It has hit hard the last 2.5 weeks. It doesn't help when I actually do fall asleep, I wake up within an hour to pee lol. I was rejoicing this morning when I made it 4 hours since the last middle of the night pee break!
I try not to talk about symptoms a lot because I always feel like people will think I am complaining when I'm not. I really have enjoyed pregnancy so far and don't feel like anything is just soooo bad. I feel more like it just comes with the territory. With that being said, I do have a lot of symptoms...RLP, leg cramps, insomnia, sciatica, meralgia parasthetica, short of breath, headaches, bad swelling in my feet (oh the teacher life), back pain, tail bone also hurts occasionally, just found out today I am anemic and got put on an iron supplement (which explains my extreme fatigue all the time), and I think that may be it haha! My one true complaint is that I can ONLY sleep on my stomach and it's starting to get very hard to do and uncomfortable. I try every night to sleep in my left side but I always end up flipping to my stomach. The NP told me I need to stop sleeping on my stomach last week and I just don't know how!
This week I think we hit a growth spurt because I feel like my belly is everywhere...in my ribs, in my pelvis, etc. I can't bend without something hurting or pulling and stretching out is the only thing that helps. Also, DH is snoring so loudly right now I'll never fall asleep.
Omg my heartburn has been insane the past 2 days. I finally asked the nurse for something tonight. Tasted like liquid chalk but I don't feel like I'm dying, so I'll take it
I hurt everywhere. My hips hurt, my back hurts, my boobs hurt, my legs are cramping at the worst times (sorry DH!) I have super bad insomnia yet I'm too tired to do anything even when I'm up.. having loads of Braxton Hicks, shortness of breath, heartburn, and weekly headaches.
@lovelongdog06 my RLP and ovary pain feel almost exactly the same, and I have actually described RLP like ovary pain before. RLP actually feels a lot like when I went through IVF and felt like my ovaries might burst haha. My RLP usually comes in sharp twinges and never lasts more than a couple of seconds if I move the wrong way.
and YES @aboxofchocolates I totally agree with the tailbone thing. It feels like where my hips meet my tailbone in the back, and the more bending I do throughout the day the worse it gets. I packed up all the Christmas decorations yesterday and by the end, I thought I might die. Ugh.
I haven't been having straight up insomnia as bad as I was a couple of weeks ago, but I have started the can't get comfortable toss and turn every couple hours type of sleep which is never very restful.
I feel like I've been getting off easy this pregnancy with symptoms. I'm carrying baby low so the worst I have are hemorrhoids and those are not really bothering me yet. I also have daily Braxton Hicks. I'm glad I can still sleep like a champ.
Dr. thinks my lack of terrible symptoms is probably because I've only gained 17 pounds in almost 28 weeks. I was also doing crazy hikes in the weekends between 10-18 miles right up to getting pregnant and doing mild ones here and there even now.
So last night during one of my many middle of the night pee breaks, I noticed this sharp pain on my right side when I got up. Figured it was RLP and would go away like it usually does. Unfortunately, it's stuck around and I think I may have pulled a muscle or something....ugh. It feels fine when I'm sitting or laying down, but that's about it. Looks like I'll be having a lazy day today....I guess it's a good excuse not to help with shoveling the almost foot of snow we have outside
I'm getting so, tired by the end of the day. I let my husband order pizza last night because I really didn't feel like being in the kitchen.
On the plus side, I'm 24 weeks and can watch the baby bounce around from the outside. I was mesmerized last night and watched my bump for about 20 mins!
@Dax28 I'm only up 14 pounds at 27 weeks.. I still have all the aches and pains.. with my daughter I gained more at this point and didn't hurt nearly as much.
I am having problems sleeping. I was always a stomach sleeper. Around thanksgiving I started sleeping on my back and now I try to sleep on my sides. I feel like I constantly flip around and I can never get comfortable. I dread waking up because I know my back will hurt and I get such restless sleep.
Also so constantly hungry, still constantly having blood when I blow my nose, super dry skin (both of those are also because it's winter), and hormonal.
Has anyone else experienced spotting this far along? I've been having back pain for about two days. It comes and goes. This morning, I noticed two pin drop sized spots of brown blood. Nothing throughout the day. And just when I got home a little while ago, I had brown discharge when I wiped. I'm wondering if this is fairly normal, or if coupled with my back pain if I should reach out to my OB. I have my 24 week appt on Monday.
@KirstinH88 I had a little bit of spotting around 24 weeks and I called my OB nurse line, and they said unless it was a lot of blood not to worry. However, I didn't also have the back pain so I'm not sure if their advice would have been different. Do you have an after hours line you can call?
@KirstinH88 I haven't had any spotting since the first trimester so I can't help you. I'd call the doc tomorrow too. On the other hand, their first question will probably be whether you had sex in the last few days. Since it's brown it's older blood, and could be from even five days ago or so from what I've heard. So could just be from sex.
@KirstinH88 I have not had any spotting/bleeding since my little scare around 15 weeks. I hear that it can be normal all throughout pregnancy. Being brown means old blood which is a good thing. But being accompanied by back pain it wouldn't hurt to call just to be sure
edited to add that I should have finished reading the comments before I chose to comment lol. "Ditto" would have sufficed!
@KirstinH88 I think you're fine waiting until the morning, and calling then just to be safe. Keep us posted, although I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
