  • How far along are you? 10 weeks

    How big is baby? Strawberry

Upcoming appointments this week? Nope. Next one is Jan 26

Any new symptoms or changes? Getting dizzy in the shower (had this my last pregnancy). Less nausea but it's still there every now and then. Oh the dreams are getting crazier!

Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing really comes to mind right now

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
For this pregnancy, I bought a double stroller around Black Friday time.

Upcoming appointments this week? Tuesday is my first ultrasound!

Any new symptoms or changes? bloaty bloat bloat bloat

Rants/Raves/Questions? Been having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I think it's true what is said about your body metabolizing coffee so much slower. I drink a very small amount of office drip coffee and I can't fall asleep at night. Ugh.

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I actually haven't thought about it. My MIL said, "Don't buy anything, we'll buy everything." Um. Ok? So I've only been scouting maternity wear. I already bought one Bella Band. I added a car seat, high chair, and stroller to a Target registry just to keep track of things I see on commercials that look good.

Upcoming appointments this week? yes! finally!! my first appt is tomorrow. it's an orientation to the birthing center but hopefully some of it will involve baby!

Any new symptoms or changes? no changes. just nausea and headaches.

Rants/Raves/Questions? insurance companies... can't live with them, can't live without them. frustrated isn't even the word.

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
for this baby, I guess the first things we'll buy will be clothes, boy or girl. tossed all the girls' clothes thinking we'd wait 3 yrs before trying again (turned out to be a little over a year lol). i reallly want to make sure we buy a swing for this one as that was donated, too. that's a must-have.
  • How far along are you? 8 week today. I thought my due date was August 18th, but according to the ticker, its the 17th. I think I counted wrong....
    How big is baby?
    Jelly Bean Size

    Upcoming appointments this week?
Nope I have two more weeks! (This is killing my PGAL brain!)
    Any new symptoms or changes?
Super Hungry, Super Tired, Super Nauseous
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
    Nope
GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
If we decide to find out the gender, probably clothes. I've seen a few cool things that I didn't buy with my first. I am also thinking about buying a new swing (our old one was donated and I gave to a family member when they needed it.) and maybe  double stroller. If it's a girl, I might buy a girly diaper or Tula too. (I obviously want to buy all the stuff!)

@bumpybump What double stroller are you thinking about?

@rgriffin91 What swing are you looking at?

Upcoming appointments this week? Yes! My first appointment is on the 10th :)

Any new symptoms or changes? Still feeling exhausted and nauseated pretty much all day every day.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
Not much since by the 6th baby you pretty much have everything you need already, lol. Actually, the first "baby item" to be purchased will probably be a new car. We have an eight seater mini van but I think we want a little more space so we will either get a bigger SUV 8 seater or a 12 seater van...haven't figured out which yet.

MS getting better, bloating getting unbearably painful

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
usually I would not purchase anything in the first tri, but we already really needed a better stroller for my son so we did buy the city select tandem stroller.   I definitely wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't use it as a single.
I wont be purchasing any other items until I'm past the first tri

@bumpybump we are seriously bump twins!   Which double stroller did u get?
  • I haven't participated on the weekly ticker threads yet. Had another ultrasound yesterday, and my date went to what I originally thought it would be. So August 17th!!!!!!

How far along are you? 8 weeks

How big is baby? A wild strawberry

Upcoming appointments this week? Had one yesterday, my date was moved up...strong heartbeat! Direct family knows, and now we're telling close friends :). Next appointment Jan 30th!

Any new symptoms or changes? Mild cramps, nausea goes in/out, and sore boobs!

Rants/Raves/Questions? We were assigned our midwife and doctor. We'll see them at the next appointment. We were reviewing the different tests they can do early, I think we'll be doing them...

Upcoming appointments this week? Saw our LO via US on 12/31, now nothing until my 12 wk apt on 1/27.  I feel so much more patient for my next apt, it felt like the longest wait ever for my first apt!

Any new symptoms or changes? Still nauseous 24/7 and congestion coming on again.  Last night I was up all night with painful gas.  Any suggestions for relief, ladies?

Rants/Raves/Questions? So much respect for STM+.  Not sure how you're doing this with a little one running around!

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I'm not sure what I'll buy for baby first...I bought myself a new bra though ;)

  • @Kudlica27 we got a Baby Jogger City Select (purchased as a double instead of separately). We have a Baby Jogger City Elite and we loved it but looking back I really wish we'd have started with the City Select. We will be selling the Elite. I have a Tula (girly since DD) and love it. And also have girly diapers since we CD.

@tripledaggerWed95976 we do seem to be twins! We bought the BJ City Select too. We bought it as a double instead of separately. It's the 2015 model but I don't care because we got it brand new for over 40% off which is unheard of for new BJ stuff (from what I've seen).

@MrsPlatz I'm about to break down and buy new bras too. A very important purchase for a comfortable momma!

Any new symptoms or changes? I don't know if it's because I went back to work this week or not, but the fatigue is awful! Also some occasional queasiness, not bad. Terrible bloating.

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I definitely haven't boughten anything yet and probably won't until 2nd trimester at least. I bet one of the earliest things I will buy will be a cute outfit after we find out the gender haha :)

  • @Kudlica27 we don't have a specific swing in mind. this will be our third child so as long as it works and it's safe, we're happy! we had the fisher price snugabear swing that my MIL bought for DD1. It ended up working out to our advantage as DD1 liked to swing side-to-side and DD2 preferred front-to-back. not sure if we'll reup on that one again though.

We had the same type but a model prior that didn't plug into the wall. The thing ate up batteries fast!  We sold it and will be getting the same type but one that plugs in.

  • @bumpybump that's awesome u got such a great deal!! We bought the new one off of Amazon (so no sale price, unfortunately  :/)
we usually are bargain shoppers, so this stroller was definitely a big expense for us.

We had the graco modes stroller and I HATED it!  I bought it because it had good reviews and was very affordable.   But it's heavy as hell, clunky, and if the wheels have ANY dirt in them they are virtually impossible to maneuver.  I was having to wash the wheels several times a week!  I couldn't take it anymore lol!!!

I am SOOO happy with the city select!!! It is so easy to maneuver!! I really wish I would have splurged on it from the start and not put up with the graco modes stroller for so long

@tripledaggerWed95976 We currently have the graco fastaction fold duo click connect double stroller (whew!) and it works beautifully for us! It didn't cost nearly as much as the BJ products (that we couldn't--and can't--afford). It's a little heavy but I manage to throw it in and out of our trunk fairly easily. we mainly jumped on it because we didn't need any adaptive devices for our carseat to fit. Not gonna lie though... I wouldn't mind pushing a city select around a couple times lol

ETA: It's a side-by-side, which was also a must-have for us. I read too many reviews saying tandems push like buses.
  • @rgriffin91 so funny, because we were the exact opposite- we really wanted a tandem because I hate having to squeeze through people and I was afraid that with a side-by-side it would be really hard to go anywhere crowded.  Side note- we live LA so basically everywhere is crowded lol!
I totally agree on the price- if it were literally anything else I wouldn't even consider paying that much, but I have seriously had such a problem with our graco that I couldn't take it anymore haha
  • @tripledaggerWed95976 @Rgriffin91 I'm siding with tripledagger on this one with tandems. Our BJ City Elite is wider than normal single strollers and we had issues fitting it through racks of clothes in stores, fitting rooms (could only use the handicapped ones), crowded zoos, state fairs, etc. The City Select pushes so awesome. I was going to buy a used one but couldn't pass up the huge deal on the new. I heard they're coming out with new features for this year's model so maybe that's why it was discounted. No clue.

  • Can I ask a question about strollers? I had been looking up "best city strollers" for a few reasons. 1) I just hate jeep sized strollers in general. Kid needs a seat. I need to push said seat. That's all I want. 2) We live in a 4th floor walkup that's 800sq ft. I need something light (for stairs) and doesn't take up much space when folded. 3) Bonus points if I can get it on the bus or train without pissing people off.

Some look really expensive (i.e. Uppa Baby. WTF?) We're only going to have this one child. Any ideas? TIA!

  • @bumpybump  knowing that you baby carry AND cloth diaper, you may be my new favorite person!  I will have to check out the BJ city select!

@DeansGirl14  I know this won't help long-term, but we used a frame stroller for the first six months or so. I was able to snag the Grayco one for $35 on sale and with the coupon from target.  I literally put the baby carrier onto the frame and push that. The frame itself is Really super small and can fit anywhere. And the basket is actually quite large.  That will only help you until the baby actually uses a full-size stroller, but it may be an option until then.

We had the one with batteries, with my last child. I do like that it swings both ways, but I'm not sure if I love the large footprint.

My honest recommendation to you is go to a Buy Buy Baby, if there's on near you, and try out the strollers.  They have a ton to push around, fold up, etc.  We went in saying we wanted to go "cheap" and left saying no way after pushing them all around (one vs. two handed, easy folding, tires, etc).  There really are reasons why some are more than others.  Now, I agree some are really high priced.

I completely second what @bumpybump said!  For most things, high price doesn't necessarily mean better quality.... when it comes to strollers though, you can REALLY tell the difference between the price ranges.

Do you need the ridiculously over-priced uppababy in order to have a wonderful stroller? Definitely not.  But, will you be able to tell the difference in dealing with a $150 stroller and a $600 one? Absolutely.

Especially since you are are looking for a light stroller, the lighter strollers tend to be more expensive.

Like bumpybump said,  buy buy baby is the place to go to try strollers out.  I've found their sales people to be very knowledgeable, I you tell them exactly what ur looking for they can point u in the right direction.

The nausea is here and I feel like I'm on the verge on puking all day long. Also tired and bloated.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
love all the stroller advice. My mind hadn't even considered the fact that I would need a double stroller.
GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I want to get one of those cosleeping bassinets that are right next to the bed. Anyone have experience with those?
  • @lyndshurt we really debated getting a double only because DD (I know you have the same aged kid) is not a stroller kid at all.  We only take it for long trips (like a full zoo day(s), state fair, etc) and she'll sit in it once tired.  A friend told me her DD wasn't a stroller kid either until the baby came along.  Then the older one wanted to do everything the baby did and loved riding in the stroller.  So, yeah, we went for it.

  • How far along are you?

    A strawberry baby!!!

    Upcoming appointments this week?
    Not until week 12

    Any new symptoms or changes?
boob tenderness just hit this week.
Still so stinking fatigued. I'm spent by about 7:30 and then I just lay in bed for hours. I'm rather worthless!

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: My DH is so amazing!!! He is picking up all the slack from me being absolutely exhausted. He takes care of the kids and cleans up. I'm blessed!

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
i bought a new rock and play to put next to my bed. Those things are AWESOME!!!!!
  • @tripledaggerWed95976 @bumpybump I was very concerned about being able to fit through doorways but we haven't had an issue yet. Our stroller is supposed to fit anywhere a wheelchair will fit--and it has so far. However, fitting it between racks of clothes is tough. I just shove things out of the way with the stroller then loudly lament how the store is not wheelchair friendly. I suppose I'm a bit of an ass in that regard.

    Nothing.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
it is really freaking me out to have zero symptoms. This is so unlike my last pregnancy.
GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I will need a new stroller because my son's has gone through the ringer between gate checks and Linda Blair style vomiting. I can't  decide if I want to get a double or not. I feel like by the time baby comes, my son will have outgrown the stroller.  This baby will need all new clothes as well because I donated everything thinking we were done having kids.

Any new symptoms or changes? boobs aren't as sore, food aversion has gotten worse, crazy dreams have started, I had a 3 day headache that was almost unmanageable.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm still getting used to the acronyms but what does the "D" in front of "S", "D", and "H" mean? I know this must be painfully obvious but I'm just not getting it!

GTKY: What one item for LO are you wanting to buy first or what item did you buy first?
I bought a little hat that almost brought me to tears when I saw it. Sappy, I know!
  • @jpomo the "D" is supposed to mean "Dear" but feel free to make it mean another "d" word for ____ husband as seems fitting  ;) . DD is Dear Daughter, DS is Dear Son, etc.
