Re: TW Tuesday!

  • My TW is an elevator today. That counts, right?

Had a check up with my Ob today regarding my infected incision, which is finally healed!! Wooo, only took 3.5 weeks!  :# still moving slowly though but I thought I can make it to the Ob on my own, only a little walking and 2 elevators- I got this!! Well guess what? The garage elevator was #!%# broken!! I had to carry LO up 4 flights of stairs, I'm pretty sure I almost died.

  • Today my mail consisted of two additional cryptic hospital bills (in addition to the several I've already received) and a summons for jury duty. Has anyone ever successfully gotten out of jury duty when they've had a newborn? I'm EBF, I really don't want to have to deal with this right now. We have a pediatrician's appointment tomorrow, I'm going to ask her for a note to request an exemption but i'm curious if anyone else has had this experience before.

Also, LO seems to be regressing on sleep. He had been going 3 hours at a time at night - sometimes close to 4 - but the last few nights have been rough. Last night he was up every hour and a half...I'm really dragging today.
  • @gowenc oh I totally got out of jury duty this summer. One of the options for getting excused is that you have a child and no childcare. In other words, if you are a SAHM. Dont go saying a friend or relative can watch LO, just say you are the only one who can, you don't have childcare and you don't have a babysitter.

@Kate08Young oh subs. Since I had LO over break my sub doesn't start until the kids are back next week. I'm so stressed about all the things that can go wrong. I have a hard enough time leaving my kids for more than one day in a row, let alone weeks. It's not the kids I worry about, it's how my class is going to be run/what gets done while I'm gone. Already mentally preparing for a disaster to clean up in March.

ETA I almost forgot my TW!
mine is my body. When I sneeze I ever so slightly poop. It's annoying. I'll call it a "sheeze" haha. 3rd degree tear and destroyed lady region means my OB has me on stool softeners (she said "I'm one hard poop away from diapers for life" super fun)
I've been wearing the Always Discreet underwear just in case, but now I'm paranoid about it.
Cant wait until I'm all healed up so I don't have to worry about this!

O.M.G.!! I'm seriously horrified for you! I'd never stop talking them!!!

  • Mine is the cold my family has and I feel it coming on. MIL brought it home and gave it to DD2 who gave it to DD1 and DH and now I'm getting it. The cough lasts for at least two weeks and I'm so paranoid LO is going to get sick. I can only hope my antibodies are strong enough for her.
Plus when I cough my abdomen and lady parts hurt.
  • Mine is the weather. It snowed overnight and now it's raining. Icy driving conditions is no ones friend.
  • @gowenc I got a summons a few weeks after baby was born. Since I do have a job outside the home, the best they would let me do is postpone my date for 4 months. I tried to then pull the breastfeeding/pumping card and I just got a lecture about how friendly they were with that and have mothers room and fridge for pumping mothers.

If you are a sahm  it should be no problem. I'm not sure what would have happened if my 4 month postponement would have been in the summer (I'm a teacher), but oh well. I'll go and likely get dismissed anyways should it even get that far:
  • TW hormones. DH went back to work and is gone two nights a week so I won't see him until Friday night.  I'm extremely down today I did not anticipate it being this tough. It's like our little dreamland bubble of never leaving the house and all three of us snuggling is now popped and we are going back to reality. The love and respect for DH has gotten even stronger now which was also unexpected.

Oh, and I'm getting real sick of those Farmers Only commercials. They need more Sonic commercials.

  • @gowenc jury duty is pretty state specific but in MA I was able to defer for six mos for no reason except my convenience. I think they gave you two deferrals and it was nbd.

My LO is also sleeping less and eating a ton I think she is going through a growth spurt though. Aren't you around the leap 1 phase?

@leksiL I did some digging on local mom boards and there's no policy for breastfeeding moms in my county, so it seems to depend on which judge you get in my county and how nice they are. I've read some stories where women got a pass without trouble and some where they were told that the court had facilities for pumping and they just had to suck it up or pay a fine (or, in the case of a breastfeeding woman from Baltimore, spend the night in jail for refusing to serve...seriously). in any case, I got a note from LO's pediatrician and will ask for a 6-month postponement due to breastfeeding and me being the sole caregiver. Fingers crossed it works.

I think we are in the middle of the first developmental leap. He was a little better yesterday, but still refusing to sleep anywhere that's not with me. He just slept two stretches of 2 and 3.5 hours, so if he goes back to sleep now for another couple hours I'll feel halfway human today.

  • My Tw is DH. I'm getting really aggravated with him. He trys to complain about me holding lo and comforting him when he cries and says just let him cry and says im gonna spoil him when first off you can't spoil a newborn. When you respond to them your only creating a bond and teaching them to trust you and that they can rely on you, theyre not trying to get what they want or anything like that. & second off I cant sit and listen to my baby cry like that, I can't sleep with him crying either and I'm just like what does it matter anyways because it isn't like he helps me with him or anything. He's changed a few diapers and watched him for me to shower on Sundays but otherwise that's really all so im like what does it matter in the one that would have to deal with it if it was possible to spoil him so wtf. & then he says let him cry but theb wakes up with an attitude. So I just can't win either way. .
  • @gowenc I also just got a jury notice yesterday! What about giving birth causes this garbage lol.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @sourlemon that sucks! I hope we can both get out of it.
