Nausea when hungry

So my last pregnancy(2nd) i realized after a few days that my nausea was because i was hungry (Its very hard to eat when your body is saying your going to puke). This only lasted a few days and i just snacked every few hours.. problem solved. THIS TIME around.. i am having TWINS (pregnancy symptoms are heightened when having multiples). The nausea from hunger is TO THE EXTREME.  It happens every few hours and snacking doesnt seen to help the nausea from coming on. I have to eat quite a bit of food while repeatedly gagging from the nausea for it to finally go away. Anyone else have this symptom? I never experienced anything like this with my 1st pregnancy.  Its an awful feeling and any input to help! Also.. heavier foods like protein bars seems to help faster... but i probably shouldn't be eating protein bars every few hours..

Re: Nausea when hungry

  • They have these pregnancy bars at Target I think the brand is Happy Mama. They're located in the pharmacy section with other pregnancy items. Those might do the trick for snacks.

  • I am in the same boat! I am always starving (I am pregnant and nursing) and therefore constantly eat. However, I am always nauseous. Last time, dry carbs helped (pretzels, crackers, plain cheerios) but this time nothing is helping!!!

I may may try those Happy Mama bars! I ordered prego pops because I remember they kind of helped last time.
  • Can you talk to your doctor and see what they recommend?

Saltines and ginger as natural remedies, but maybe a Dr. can suggest something better.

  • Are you actually vomiting or just nauseous? Snack constantly. Stay away from high acid things like tea and citrus on an empty stomach. A glass of milk might even give you a good base.  High protein when you do eat.

  • Just nauseas so far since i can usually eat and get it to go away after a bit. Could easily lead to vomiting though. I will look into different pregnancy bars... good idea! My husband even recommended maybe trying a meal replacement shake? Any that you gals might recommend? Snacking doesn't seem to help at all.. and to make the nausea go away i have to either eat alot or have a protein bar with another item.  I will definitely be calling the doctor if it doesnt get better this week.
  • I've been sucking life savers to keep something in my mouth at all times, seems to help
  • I wouldnt suggest the meal replacement shakes bc if you do throw up it could hurt your stomach sonce on you have had is liquid. Trust me, i was so nauseous last night, all i had was chicken broth and when i met the toilet it was painful to my tummy. All night long.
I think that saltines and cold water helps the most. Sucking on ice before having anything to eat helps me too.
I notice fruits like watermelons and mellons ease my nausea too.

  • Omg.   No advice here but you aren't alone.  I was never this nauseous with my first two.  I don't know what to do with myself this time around.  I'm always hungry but when I eat, it never helps.
My doctor suggested eating protein before bed.  And waiting to drink anything until 15 minutes after you've eaten.
  • Maybe they high protein snacks?
Like cheesesticks, hard boiled eggs, nuts.
  • Same situation! If I'm hungry, I'm nauseous so I'm constantly eating. And it's not just snacks, it's meals. So now I've gained more weight than I should have in tri 1, feeling very bloated, and it looks like I'm showing even though I'm only 11 weeks. I'm hoping it eases up in the next week or so but my doctor just says to eat what makes me feel good, drink lots of water, and if I'm going to eat a lot, try to keep it on the healthier side.
  • I eat constantly. I go on long walks to try to help me battle gaining too much. And as silly as it sounds, walks actually help me from becoming sleepy at work. Otherwise I'm constantly exhausted.
