Pregnant after IF

Cautiously New Here

edited January 2017 in Pregnant after IF
Hi everyone!

I am, very cautiously, jumping over from the IF board. I wasn't planning to until my first ultrasound, however, I have a question and felt this was a more appropriate board to ask it. So far, I'm believed to be about 5w6d. I've had 3 beta's thus far and everything has been great. I've had some basic symptoms; mostly just tired, emotional, sensitivity to smell, and occasional nausea.

This morning, I've had some brown spotting. Naturally, I am freaking out. Has anyone else experienced this? I called my clinic and they had me come in for another beta. They said this happens in about 50% of pregnancies, but I'm really nervous. Any insight you ladies have to offer would be greatly appreciated!

  • I didn't personally experience this, but I know many ladies on here did, and several had bright red, heavier bleeding. Fx for you and congrats!!

  • Glad to see you here!  I'm sorry you are dealing with this stress.  I know brown spotting is very common, and most docs seem to not be concerned unless you are filling a pad.  Most likely all is well and FX for a great ultrasound next week.

  • Welcome and congrats on your IVF success!!! Spotting in the first trimester is so normal and so many of us experienced it. I had brown spotting around week 10, but brown spotting at any time in the first trimester is normal. Brown means old blood. Good luck for your ultrasound!!

I joined this board before my first ultrasound because I needed somewhere to hang out (and cope) while I was waiting for what felt like FOREVER. Please jump in and join us whenever you feel ready!

Ive had bright red bleeding for two days with a little break and actually filling a whole pad and more.
I was around the same time as you are now.

dragonfaeriekdanjouwifeinraleigh28tvh1982 Thank you so much ladies for the welcome and support! It makes me feel much better. I am such the worrier...I can't even help myself. After everything we go through to get pregnant, it's just so hard not to worry about it going wrong.

The nurse just called and numbers look good. Beta is at 9900, progesterone at 71. Going to try very hard to relax until next Monday!

@Isthisthereallife Glad your beta looked great! I'm almost 7 weeks and I've had brown spotting for several days now. The other day my RE let me come in for reassurance and I was able to hear the heartbeat and everything looked great! He said it's very common and not to worry unless it was red with severe cramps.
  • @Stars2016 Thank you!! That does make me feel better.

  • Congrats on your + beta!! Brown spotting is totally normal! I'm one of the ladies who at 19 weeks had a massive bright red bleed (filling a pad in minutes). Baby was oblivious even though my doc and all the hospital staff thought that was it. Never figured out what happened and I bled for a long time. Sometimes (which seems very often w IVF ladies) blood is simply blood. It's residual from a vag u/s, sex, your body cleansing itself, a SCH, or completely unexplained.
Congrats again and take good care! Try not to stress too much - it's really hard I know!!

  • @Isthisthereallife we aren't finding out the sex until delivery day! So excited! We painted the walls a light, soft green and just put in dark hardwood floors! Theme is zoo animals I guess - grey and white elephant prints on sheets, giraffe and zebra wall hangings, with a cool wicker giraffe toy bin. It's been SO fun picking stuff out! Now we wait for baby showers :)

  • @babylonghorn16 That is so exciting!! Oh my gosh it's so funny you say that! That is a similar color to what we painted our nursery! We did a soft mint green. Mind you, we decided that long before we knew about the IF. Sounds like it's absolutely adorable!
