Rants/raves? Pretty sick today and pretty gassy. Let's just say I'm afraid to cough in public. Haha! Also, prune juice is nasty!

On the plus side, DH said my boobs are getting huge. And by huge he means a full B cup. Haha!

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting?

DH knows more about this than I do. I have to use all of my sick days (I have about 45 banked, plus a few family illness and personal days) and I think we get 6 weeks paid by the state and up to 6 weeks unpaid. Unfortunately part of my unpaid summer break will be spent waiting for baby to come instead of on leave... but I'd rather that than a preterm baby.

Rants/raves? I have to go back to work this morning after having all of last week off! I was really getting used to hanging out at home

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? 6 weeks. I think I might be able to swing working mostly from home 2-4 weeks after that, but I haven't yet talked to work about the pregnancy.

Rants/raves? I've been having cramps on and off and it really just isn't good for my PGAL brain. I have another ultrasound a week from today so I just keep telling myself that I don't have to wait much longer... but that doesn't calm me down much.
Today is my first day back at work after being off since Dec 22nd. I brought a ton of preggie pops to make it through the day.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? Idk yet. I just started this job like 2 months ago so I don't feel comfortable asking just yet. Hopefully they'll be nice!

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I'm not full time so not really taking maternity leave. I work at a college so I plan on not working much in the summer and hoping baby is due on time so I have some time with him/her before I go back the last week of August

Any appointments this week? How did it go? I have an ultrasound Thursday! So excited!

Rants/raves? My husband and I let two of our friends move in to help all of us with financially, but it was before I found out I was pregnant. I quit smoking, but they all still do and it's so hard. Because I can extra smell when they come in from outside. In general, it's hard having all of us here because my house isn't that big. But, I guess the upside is that it's helping financially for all of us.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting?
So this could have almost gone into the rant area, because I'm in a bit of pickle. I've been unemployed for about 2 weeks. I'd switched jobs before I found out I was pregnant, and totally regretted it. The new job wasn't what I thought it'd be and was not going to be safe for a pregnancy, or at least carried or risks than my PGAL brain could handle. I'm planning to be a SAHM, but I'm only 8 weeks and should work to save up while I can. But I'm just struggling to decide what I wanna do. I don't feel right taking a job in my field that I'm going to quit in July or August, but also don't want to take a job I'll be miserable at for most of my pregnancy. I'd been helping watch my niece and siblings while schools/daycare was out over the two weeks and we had all the holidays so it wasn't a big deal, but now I'm getting more serious about looking especially after my Thursday ultrasound. I'll figure it out, but it's just really stressful and I don't wanna make another poor job choice after the last one

I had lab work on Friday, not sure if they'll tell be anything unless there is a problem.

Rants/raves?
This nausea has got to go. On the bright side, I haven't puked. But, I also haven't eaten much in the last few days because eating makes me nauseous. When the nausea is bad, I can't even take sick leave because I'm not eligible until March so I have to suffer through this at work.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting?
I will get 6 weeks on short term disability receiving 2/3 of my current pay. I have sick leave but I don't start earning more until march when I've been there for 6 months so they only start me out with 6 days.

Any appointments this week? How did it go? No, I think I might be the last appointment on the board at January 31st. Trying to stay patient and optimistic until then.

Rants/raves? Nausea has started and is getting progressively worse. Still not nearly as bad as what I'm reading about on the boards, so I'm thankful for both having symptoms and for any day where it's not too bad.

Questions for FTM, STM+? Not right now.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? My company offers one week. Then you have to exuast your PTO time, thankfully I have 5 weeks because I've been with the company almost a decade! After that I'm going to look into either STD or my state program for an additional 6 weeks. Ideally I'd like to take 12 weeks off for maternity leave.

Rants/raves? I'm so sick of ginger. But my prescription anti-nausea meds have been a lifesaver.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I'l clarify with HR later, but looks like 12 weeks FMLA with 12 weeks short-term disability at 70% pay. Not sure yet if I have to exhaust all my sick time or how that all works yet. Wouldn't care though, as sick time is 100% pay, obviously.

Any appointments this week? How did it go? I have another ultrasound tomorrow. I'm so excited! Hubby will be with me, we're hoping to see the heartbeat. We had our ultrasound shy of 6 weeks, it was at 94bpm, doctor said that was normal for under 6 weeks. Hopefully it's beating away!!!!

Rants/raves? Feeling more tired, and the nausea is starting to last longer. It was going in/out, some days nothing some days i felt it for an hour or so. Yesterday, I had it for half the day. But no puking yet...but seeing that most food or talk about food is making my stomach turn.

Questions for FTM, STM+? My boobs are definitely bigger, but i can still wear my bra, just a bit snug. Should i expect them to get bigger where i'll need new bras?

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I'm not 100% sure - I think 12 weeks. Hubby gets 1 month.

Any appointments this week? How did it go? U/S on Friday, where we found out I'm pregnant with twins! Both had strong heartbeats and were measuring on track!

Rants/raves? They gave me Diclegis samples at my appt Friday and it has made such a massive difference. I still have moments of nausea, but I've actually been able to eat and don't feel horrible all day!

Questions for FTM, STM+? I have about a million questions, but they're mostly about twins. Any twin moms to help me out?

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I am very lucky. I get 12 weeks paid and then have vacation time that I'll take to extend it to either 14 or 15 weeks. I am the main breadwinner so it's a blessing to be able to take leave without worrying about how we're going to make it.

Any appointments this week? How did it go? Second one tomorrow. Last appointment we saw the heart flicker at 5 weeks 6 days, so I'm hoping we'll actually hear it beating this time! It still doesn't feel real yet.

Rants/raves? Rant - First day back to work after being off for two weeks... During vacation I took a daily nap after lunch which was heavenly, so we'll see how miserable I am after lunch today when I have to go back to my desk haha.
Rave - I was thinking about giving birth in August - the more I think about it, the more it seems like an awesome time of year. You have baby in the summer and then have all of fall to take walks and be outside before the dead of winter. I'm sure being pregnant in the summer months will be rough, but I'm so grateful that after LO arrives we can spend time outside! (I'm from New England by the way).

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? My company recently adjusted their policy to 4 months paid leave. I feel so lucky.. can't imagine only having a week or even no PTO like some PP mentioned. That just doesn't seem fair. DH gets 6 weeks paid paternity leave that he can take in chunks (4 weeks after birth, then 2 weeks a month later, etc..).

@jacksonbears yes, at some point you will most likely need a new bra during your pregnancy. Last pregnancy I started out as a 34B and before going to the hospital, I was a (something)C. You may even need to get new bras more than once.

I waited to get nursing bras until my milk car in. Our hospital has a baby boutique store and I got fitted right there. I will be getting new ones this time as all of mine are so stretched out from 20 mos of nursing.

I shrunk down to a 34A after DD and nursing and can already tell my bras are getting tight both in band and cup so I'm about to go get refitted again.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I get 12 weeks paid 100%. I work for a care company so we also have some cool benifits for backup care and such. Plus my DH gets 4 100% paid and can take 4 more unpaid. So he gets to be home for 8 weeks with me!

Rants/raves? Pregnancy has made me so picky about food. I'm usually okay once I start eating, but not much sounds appealing.

Questions for FTM, STM+? I definitely also had bra questions. I was wondering if you go up a band size in addition to any cup sizes.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? 12 weeks unpaid FMLA. I also think I can use sick time I've accumulated. I think that might take me to close to Christmas break since I work for a school district.

@SpotConlon I mentioned above that my band and cup sizes changed. For me personally, my ribs expand the bigger my belly gets. So it was both for me (and I did shrink back down after).

Bras. Yes get new ones. Either get nursing bras with elastic that will strech or get cheap bras because you might change your sizes multiple times. I was a 32D prior. I'm a 32DD now. I had to get a bigger band for comfort and my cup size significantly changed they didn't carry my them. I felt most comfortable in a nursing bra by the 2nd trimester and it grew with me

First OB appt on Friday! But I "will not have an ultrasound or meet with a doctor at this appointment," just with a nurse, according to the paperwork. I don't see why they'd want to wait til 8-10 weeks to discuss how to have a healthy pregnancy, when that info would be helpful at 6 weeks.

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting?
eek, I have NO idea. I'm the director and only f/t employee of a non-profit (me plus 4 p/t employees), and because I'm revising the employee manual, I know there aren't any policies about medical leave. And I'm due in the middle of the high season.

I have three weeks paid vacation per year, which I could save for baby bonding time, or use 10 days of for a honey/babymoon in Europe (it seems like simultaneously the stupidest and only reasonable way to use our time before the baby comes, and if we get married before then, I'm definitely considering myself entitled to a honeymoon). Someone, help - how does short-term disability even work?

On the plus side, I don't really have to worry about using sick time to attend appointments!

Rants/raves? I thought I was immune to nausea but the morning sickness fairy found me. // Had our "first" appt last week but just filled out paperwork & medical history. They didn't even confirm the pregnancy! So DH made me take another test when we got home, hah!

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I have no idea. My company is small, maybe 14 or 15 employees. FMLA isn't required unless the company has 15 or more workers. So I may only get enough time off to recover from delivery. I am salary so I won't lose pay but I know I'll be pressured to come back asap.

It really sucks that someone told your boss before you were ready. That was not cool.

I told my boss very early, for a couple of reasons. First, she knew we were doing fertility treatments because I had to take some time off for that, and she was extremely supportive of me throughout that process. Second, she wanted to send me to Germany sometime this year to do a site audit. So I had to tell her that I may not be able to do that depending on timing and I did tell her why. If I had a different boss or different circumstances I would have waited until 12 weeks if possible.

I guess I am really lucky with my boss. I told her early last time because I was so sick and I wanted her to quit sending me home. This time I was going to tell her after my first appt and she cornered me and asked me herself.

I told my boss pretty soon after since she was all over my case over stupid stuff that she was wrong about and I wanted her to back off. I also will have some issues with appointments and may need to leave early to get to them.

@lyse01 You probably wouldn't qualify for a private disability policy if you didn't pay for it / apply prior to getting pregnant. Conversely, some states give you disability money that you have already paid for via taxes. You can collect both if you applied for the former and got approved before being KU.

Rants/raves? See above. My only other major rant is that this phase of trying not to overplan in the first trimester (maybe I'm just overly worried) while still knowing that so many things need to get done is driving me nuts. This is our first and we live in a tiny (but pretty) studio apartment with thin walls, so we pretty much have to find a new place or our neighbors will murder us. But I don't want to actually start making those plans until we're out of the first trimester. . .

Questions for FTM, STM+? Maybe after I finally get the ultrasound?

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? 60 days at full pay + possibility for longer at half / unpaid. I"m a professor, so I will probably try to take one full semester if we can swing it so that I'm not trying to come into classes halfway through and freak all the students out

@lyse01 - haha it's not all full pay (the 17 week pregnancy leave part is for some, not the rest) but you do get a good chunk of pay from our govt program during the whole 50 weeks.

Its just the norm now here in Canada to take the whole year off after a baby - getting child care earlier is very hard to find & expensive. The second part of the leave covers either mom or dad - usually who ever makes the most stays at work.

My office manager (who I told right away, she is very trustworthy and I know she did not saw anything) overheard a conversation between this girl and my boss. The girl that blabbed said something like she had a feeling she knew what my upcoming appointment was about. She has kids of her own and I'm sure she has been picking up on clues (I've been eating super healthy, not wanting to go out to eat with anyone, probably had a weird reaction when I was given alcohol for Christmas, etc). Regardless, who in their right mind would do that to another woman. I am livid and when I do announce at work I swear to god if she says anything like "I knew the whole time" I am going off on her.

Any appointments this week? How did it go? I had my first appointment today. It was mainly just informational, but still good. I have my first ultrasound scheduled for MLK day, which works out good since I will be off that day and won't have to try and cover up the appointment from people at work.

Rants/raves? Not pregnancy related... but is typing on the bump really slow for anyone else. I type and it takes forever for it to show up on the page!

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I'll get the standard 6 weeks of short term disability. Then after that, I will have to use vacation time. Ideally, I would love to take 12 weeks off, but I don't know if that will be financially possible.

Where do you shop for (non-nursing) bras? I have a hard time finding a D cup in a 32.

I have the luck of trying to find 32DDD sized bras. Victoria's Secret actually has up to 32DDD's in some styles or I've had success on Amazon (which is usually cheaper).

Thanks for the bra advice, ladies! So far my bras are still fitting (mostly), but I'll look into nursing or stretchy bras once I need a bigger size.

@gipfish I wear a 32D and get my bras at Bloomingdale's- Wacoal, Chantelle and Le Mystere are great- expensive, but they last a long time when you take care of them! (Edited to add that they are cheaper online on Amazon! Next time I'm going to try them on at bloomie's and buy them online.)

GTKY: What kind of maternity leave will you be getting? I will get 12 weeks FMLA (mostly paid, I need to find out the exact details). I'll use some vacation days and extend that to 14-16 weeks. I'm also considering quitting and becoming a SAHM, but won't be making a decision on that anytime soon.

Bra wise, I loved the Vanishing Back bras at Soma. The band can stretch quite a bit so it grew with me last pregnancy when my cup size stayed the same.
