I read this as a question about like ingesting them or putting them on your face but @eggplantface you have taken my mind down a disturbing road

eta: I haven't read about any benefits for fertility but I do use them in my nightly facial cleanser and moisturizer

I meant more of diffusing or massaging on skin.

  • I've read lots about them helping with stress and balancing hormones.
  • Essential oils have a ton of benefits, mainly relieving stress and providing a calming affect if you're diffusing them. My friend makes homemade lotions out of them and they can be used for all sorts of remedies. As far as helping the sperm actually meet the egg? I doubt it. But if it provides a stress relief, why not? I diffuse lavender and lemon all the time. Love!

  • @porter784 Like @antoto said, I wouldn't count on them to get you knocked up, but there are lots of studies that show benefits to using essential oils. They can do more than just relaxation, and can help with regulating hormones - but emphasis on help. If you have a major issue, using essential oils isn't going to fix anything and you should talk to your doctor.

I forget who posted this a while back, but this is an interesting article if you want to read more about essential oils and hormone support: https://www.howweflourish.com/essential-oil-cycling/

  • This thread just reminded me to turn on my diffuser...but I just really like the pretty smells.
  • As much as essential oils can have a ton of benefits, but there are also a ton of things you need to be careful about. First, unless you are under the care of a certified aromatherapist, you shoyld not consume EOs.  For example, lemon EOS is not simply lemon flavoring into your water. But yes, certain scents can help you relax.  However an important note is some eos can be dangerous once you get pregnant, so be careful if/once you conceive. Most say you should avoid in the first trimester, but several oils are safe in 2nd and 3rd trimester.

I often reference usingeosadely.com. They certainly promote EO use, while taking a conserv as time approach to safety. It's headed by a certified aromatherapist and has a strong focus on safety.

I love EOS, but there is a lot of misinformation out there. And for the record, while you want high quality oils, safety is not brand specific. You can't say all other brands of x oil have safety precautions, but Yay brand of that oil is pure and therefore doesn't have that safety precaution.
