    17w w/ twins

    How big is baby
Pomegranates, although that seems smaller than last week's avocadoes

    Any appointments this week
Two weeks -- ultrasound & hopefully we will find out the sexes!

    Symptoms
I'm having pelvic pain, but only on one side, which is the side that always hurts in my back (bulging discs). So idk if it's just radiating from that or if I'm having the pelvic... thing. I can't remember what it's called, when your hips widen too quickly? Ugh. Anyway, I got a maternity girdle but it isn't doing much because my uterus isn't terribly big yet.

    Rants/Raves/Questions

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017
I'm going to try to get a bunch of writing finished before the babies come. I'm launching a new pen name and have lots of plans that I've already delayed because of how sick I've been in the first trimester.
    Me: 35 | DH: 46
    MMC: 09/13 (9 weeks)
    DD: Born 8/22/14
    Babies #2 & 3: Due dates 6/9/17
    And my other love: writing
  • How far along? 19 weeks!

How big is baby? Zucchini, box of Girl Scout Cookies, a hot dog (I like to look at a whole lot of options)

Any appointments this week? Anatomy scan & regular appointment next Friday!

Symptoms? Hungry. All. The. Time. I'm guessing I will have finally gained a few pounds at next week's check up :)

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm so excited/anxious for AS! I'm also interested to see if the NT tech's guess that baby is a boy is correct or not. We will be thrilled either way, though I think she was right. My MIL will NOT let go of the possibility that baby could be a girl. Not that I don't want a girl, but I don't want to give MIL the satisfaction of being correct (Petty? Maybe)...so *come on penis*!

Question: did anyone else have the tech make a sex guess at their NT scan? I'm wondering if this is a thing that happens. I didn't expect it and feel like it's been messing with my brain, wondering if she's right or not. I kind of wish she hadn't guessed at all. I was 13w3d, and I know genitals look pretty similar at that point.

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017? I'm not really into resolutions. My plan for 2017 is to bring a healthy baby into the world and adapt to being a mom of 2 kiddos :)

    How big is baby? Banana

Any appointments this week? I meet with my midwife today.

Symptoms? Nothing new. I always have to pee, and I can feel uterus pressure. My baby is moving and fluttering around more. Heartburn gets worse and worse for me. My husband was the hairiest baby I've ever seen, based on his pictures. That could be how our little one is.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I hate this heartburn. I never had it before pregnancy, other than maybe once or twice every few months. If even that. Now, it's a daily thing, and I miss my spicy food.

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017? Stop letting laundry pile up. I'll wash and dry it, and I'll even follow those directions carefully and hang dry certain things. I just hate putting it away after.

    How far along
    22 Weeks

    How big is baby
A coconut, guinea pig or a water bottle

    Any appointments this week
    None until later in January

    Symptoms
Still with the crotch pain. Movements have increased during the day, lower back/hip pain though that may be from sitting on the hard floor playing with 3yo nephew, and it's getting increasingly difficult to roll over while in bed, and getting out of bed is a challenge. Also exhaustion. Oh and the heartburn- mostly at night when I'm laying down. It was so bad the other night that it was making me vomit and I had to sleep upright. My tums didn't even get a chance to work because I couldn't keep them in long enough.

    Rants/Raves/Questions
So close to viability! Counting down the weeks. Only two more! I hope they fly by so I can breathe a smidge easier.

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017

I don't make resolutions and as silly as it sounds, to me my new year starts on my birthday. That's when I'm more likely to review my year and consider making changes.

@MollyandD Lol, I do the same with my laundry. I hate putting it away!

ETA: @nda_roxybabe Talk to me about this papaya extract. I've not heard of it's uses and if it works for heartburn/acid reflux I am allllll ears!

    Any appointments this week
Nope but have an ultrasound next week.

    Symptoms
    Still unfortunately morning sickness.

    Rants/Raves/Questions
I am loving getting to feel this little one wiggle around! I can't wait for our anatomy scan to confirm that we are having a girl and to see just what she is doing in there!

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017
Now that I am finally finished with my graduate program I'd love to get back into some old hobbies and explore some new ones.
  • @nda_roxybabe and @roper2617 Sorry you ladies are having horrible heartburn. I have suffered for years from it. At night I actually use a wedge pillow to prop me up some, I don't believe it was too expensive. Also, with papaya extract I would at least talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking. Herbal products can be really tricky with pregnancy and could pose a threat or be unsafe. It's crazy how many herbal products could cause contractions or birth defects. (Totally not telling you what to do, just suggesting  :) )

    How far along
    ? 20 weeks! Half-way!

How big is baby? Size of a banana. Measured 11 ounces and about 7 inches long at ultrasound!

Any appointments this week? Not until the end of the month as I just had one this week.

Symptoms? I have been pretty restless lately at night, but nothing too bad.

Rants/Raves/Questions? So we are team green and the interaction with my ultrasound tech went like this.
Tech: So are we finding out sex today?
    Me: No
Tech: ... Are you never finding out?
Me: No... well I guess we will when the baby is born.

It was rather awkward, but I imagine she was wondering if she should write it down or something!

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017?

I don't typically make resolutions and haven't thought about it. Hmm.
  • How far along? 21 weeks

How big is baby? An endive

Any appointments this week? Not until January 18th

    Symptoms? Heartburn ALL the time

Rants/Raves/Questions? Me, DH, and DD all have terrible colds! @KMD1106  I agree with you - what I wouldn't give for NyQuil!

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017? I want to get back into running. I had to stop when I tore a tendon in my ankle and had to have surgery. A few months after that I got pregnant with DD and felt so awful the whole time that I never got back into it. After she was born I didn't start up again either.

  • @nda_roxybabe, @MollyandD, @roper2617, @jdebaie, and anyone else. For reals, if your heartburn is unbearable, all day, or painful, talk to the doc! I wasn't a huge fan of having to take a bunch of medication, but he had me go through 3 different medications, complete diet change, and almost a gallon of milk a day and had to finally give me a prescription I was in so much pain I was crying after eating. I still have it slightly, but it's finally manageable and I actually like to eat now. Also, this baby better come out harrier than an ape after that hell.
  • Thanks @absbubbs and @mspacman34 I'm planning on talking to my midwife about my options for the heartburn at our next appointment.

  • I'm lurking. My heartburn was so awful my last 2 pregnancies. It went away after my first was born. But after my second it stayed around. Please go to your GI doc if that's happens. I ended up with a hiatal hernia and small esophageal ulcer. Left untreated this can turn into some scary stuff.

    A day late here, but... I'm joining @mspacman34, @kmd1106, @mollyandd, @clebl24, and @stephym89 in the "20 weeks Banana" club!

    Symptoms
Lots of movement, flutters, and rumbles!

    Rants/Raves/Questions
Rant: Annoyingly my gag reflex is in full effect during teeth-brushing and picking up after my dog. The toothpaste thing is fine because I can lean over the sink, but out in public in my neighborhood it's kind of embarrassing to be doubled-over. (But if that's the worst thing right now...)
Rave: Recently found out it's a BOY and it's pretty fun to be discussing real name options!

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017?
I need to carve out some more "me" time on a regular basis, and not wait until I am in dire need for it.

@stephym89, more slow cooker meals is a great idea!

Re heartburn: great advice by posters above. I second the propping up with pillows & talking with the doc (and specialist if needed). Also what works for me is avoiding food after 7 pm (if I'm in bed by 930-10), other than very light things like crackers, toast, a tortilla, clear juice/tea, maybe a popsicle, etc., and no chocolate/cookies/ice cream! Really be mindful of the foods you eat before you lay down at night and hopefully it'll help a bit.
  • @mamatowildones Oh my, I hope you are doing better now! It really can turn into something bad and I'm glad you went and got checked out!

My reflux was so bad for a while I though I was having heart attacks and was dying the pain was so intense. After a scope revealed nothing but inflammation, my doctor suggested at one appointment that I try eating gluten-free and see if that helps and at this point I was on a PPI, Carafate 4x a day, and Tums as needed. For me it has helped so much, but I think it may have just been a coincidence type thing.

For all you ladies suffering, I cannot second enough talking to your doctor. Also second what @SKZW about night time eating. A food journal could help identify trigger foods in the mean while especially if you are having heartburn during the day. Avoid foods that cause the LES to relax (chocolate, tomatoes, caffeinated beverages, mints, certain spices, etc.).
  • Sorry I'm late!

    How far along
    ?
    21 weeks!

    How big is baby
    baseball hat!

    Any appointments this week
hopefully. I'm changing doctors again. Le sigh.

    Symptoms
Baby is moving like crazzzy! Super fun.

    Rants/Raves/Questions
    Nope!

GTKY: If you make resolutions, what's yours for 2017?
Just to get through 2017. Have a healthy baby is obviously #1. Figure out being a single parent to two. It's looking more and more like DH and I are going to get divorced. I'm not super thrilled about the new year, I feel like my world is totally crashing. Blah. Sorry to be a downer!

Funny story, DH is military so I have Tricare Prime and I switched regions so I could switched doctors. I got assigned to a post that doesn't have an OB so I have to deliver at Langley. However I had to prove my pregnancy at Fort Eustis to get my referral in the system for OB at Langley. I seriously had to go pee in a cup and the nurse comes in and is like "you're pregnant!" I'm like I know, I'm 21 weeks and having a boy." I was wearing a coat and scarf and I guess she didn't realize. So crazy.
  • @bacorrea, I'm sorry to hear it's not improving between you and H. I'm sure you'll be a rockstar mom of 2 though!

  • Thanks everyone! My poor SIL who just had her baby 2 months ago was SO sick the entire time. She had HG and was getting daily IV's for a while. Then on top of that she got horrendous Acid reflux. She gave me her left over otc meds (yes, I'll check with my OB) and gave me some awesome suggestions of tracking what might trigger it, drinking milk (I hate milk, so does she, but hey...) and the biggest thing was the 2 2x4's under the top legs of the bed. Thats happening this weekend and I so hope it helps! Being up for hours in the night doubled over with a stomachache suuuuucks.
