Intro - Moving Over From TTTC

Hi Ladies, I think it's about time for me to move over here so I figured I'd intro and hopefully start participating shortly.

Im Julia, 32, and DH is 34. We stopped using preventative measures in Oct '13 but lived in different states for the next 12 months so the first year we were more hoping than trying. DH moved closer in Oct '14 and after a month of OPKs in January we got our first BFP in Feb '15 but unfortunately in May at 18w3d I miscarried our twin boys. They were mono mono twins and got their umbilical cords tangled so I guess a silver lining is we know the reason for the miscarriage and it isn't something that should happen in the future.

Got the all clear to start trying again August and after five cycles of no luck the depression, depressive eating, no working out, treating my body horribly was in full swing. Then came the erratic periods so my OB prescribed letrozole, 2 cycles of that both BFN and then I decided I wanted to get my body back on its own. After three consecutive cycles of 45+ days id finally had enough, in June '16 I quit my stressful job, joined TB, downloaded fertility friend, rejoined the gym, cut gluten and dairy out of my diet and started getting rid of all my household chemicals and lo and behold the next month regular periods and confirmation that I'm ovulating. Yay.

However that celebration was short lived as still there's been no BFP. We saw an RE in Nov, all cycle day 3 bloods were normal (I thought my AMH was a little high at 4.9 but my RE said it was fine), sonohistogram normal, DHs SA was well above normal (HSG scheduled for 1/6 to round out the testing) so here we sit at a diagnosis of "unexplained".

One little hiccup in our TTC journey is that DHs job is taking him to Panama for a few three day trips over the next two months so our RE said trying naturally would have to wait til August. We were able to get 11 vials of sperm frozen before DH left for his first trip and are planning to start treatment with the frozen samples in February. Three IUIs and then then IVF in June if necessary.

I think I'm still a little in denial that we are going to need treatment to have a baby when everything is "normal" but I'm definitely excited to get started instead of being benched until August.

i look forward to getting to know you all <3

  • @soontobemommahowe I'm just starting to read this board, and while your journey has been different from mine, I definitely understand how you feel about the denial of needing treatment. I just feel so betrayed by my body that we can't conceive the way we're "supposed" to. It's tough and I hope we both find success very soon  <3

  • Thank you ladies for the warm welcome. I hope you find a way to truly enjoy the holidays this week  :)
