GTKY - New Years Eve

I'm sure some of these questions may be duplicative of what was already asked in the daily Ticker Changes. Sorry....

What are your plans for New Years Eve?

Do you have any resolutions?

What is your favorite memory/moment from 2016?

What is your least favorite memory/moment from 2016?

Other than meeting our sweet babies, what are you most looking forward to in 2017?

  • @belocin The seizure incident sounds horrible! Was it an isolated incident or does she have recurring seizures?

  • @KirstinH88 I must say I'm also looking froward to some adult beverages. The holidays are rough without it.

  • @kayham12 I'm so sorry you experienced something similar! While the experience will never leave us, I'm glad our girls are young enough to not remember it themselves.

  • @KirstinH88 I'm dreading potty training! I woke up one day to my daughter getting out of bed I asked what she was doing and she said going to the potty and went in the bathroom and went.. no training, nothing. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I saw what my brother went through trying to train my nephew and my friend who was constantly scrubbing her 4 year olds pee soaked shoes!  Now it causes anxiety just to think about!

  • @Omie_Wise I love your book idea....I'm sure that will be so fun to look back on when your children are older.  Does everyone write in it or just you?

  • @HappyAnjel from what I hear, girls are much easier to potty train. My niece was potty trained by 1 years old. Yes, ONE! She would walk around saying "my butt!" when she had to go and they would take her to the toilet. DSS#2 was 2 (fairly easy) and DS was almost 3 (PAIN!). He had no interest in going potty, but he wanted to play baseball like his brothers so I told him that they don't let pee pee boys play baseball. That helped with going #1. #2 took another 6 months. I got so fed up that I made him wash his own poop underwear in the bathtub and he thought it was so disgusting that he never did it again.
This is awesome and I'm going to have to use this!!!  Since he just got his Power Wheels, I'm going to tell him "Pee pee boys aren't allowed to drive"  :D

  • @shaunessa it totally worked! He knew when he had to go pee, he just didn't want to stop whatever he was doing to go to the potty and would rather I change his diapers. Gotta find something that he is obsessed with. And I also took diapers away. It wasn't a miracle, overnight cure, but definitely worked!

  • @cafedisco This is our first child so right now it's just something that my husband and I do together. I hadn't thought about whether we will include our kids in our NYE journal tradition, maybe! When I got pregnant DH bought me a promptly journal. It's a journal for pregnancy through your child's 18th year with prompts for each trimester and then milestones through the child's life (1 month, 2 month, 6 month, 2 years, 3 years, etc.). Each section has prompts to respond to that correspond with your child's life. For example, for 5 years old some of the prompts are: "What is your child's hair like?", "What was your child's favorite part of the holiday season?". I am really looking forward to filling this out every year with my husband for my child's birthday.
