Nursing clothes?

Hi ladies, hoping for some good feedback here. I'm having a hard time finding nursing clothes that work for me. So far I've been fine with nursing tanks and cardigans because I haven't left the house much, but I'm pretty busty and most nursing tanks don't fully cover my bras. I keep checking the usual brands - Gap, Old Navy, Motherhood, but there just don't seem to be a lot of cute (and practical) options. What brand clothing do other nursing mamas wear? Or if you've found some regular clothes that are nursing friendly, what have those been? I have a really hard time finding button downs that fit because of my chest, but that would be the obvious solution. What else has worked for others?

Thanks for your input!

Re: Nursing clothes?

  • I'm struggling with this too. So far it's been nursing tanks and cardigans here. I also don't want to spend a ton of money.

  • The boyfriend flannel shirts at Old Navy have been working for me as far as a button down shirt goes. it's a generous cut since they aren't fitted.

  • I've mainly just been wearing my regular spaghetti strap tank tops or some of my strapless type shirts and yoga pants or whatever pants I find comfortable for nursing clothes since I'm a Stay at home mom anyways.
  • So I'm only 4 days pp but my milk came in last night and the only thing comfortable and that can contain my porn star bust is my bravado body silk nursing tank. I'm just wearing it under maternity shirts for now until I lose the pooch.
  • Target tank tops (the Merona brand) under any regular top, pull down with your bra and have stomach coverage... that's the way I roll...
i do have 4 bravado or target nursing tanks too.

  • ^^ seconding the target nursing tanks. The clasp can be a little fiddly but they're comfy.

I realized yesterday that my favorite nursing clothes right now are all
pajama tops and I need to find more options for when I actually leave the house  :#
  • I don't know if this really helps since you're already wearing cardigans over tank tops...
But I bought these off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O5I1WIM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(Price is for a 3 pack of different colors - blue, gray and black).

They are comfy, although not super warm.  I can sort of also use them as a nursing cover if needed.  I find them to be flattering because they have some loose extra material around my belly and sort of cover it a bit.
  • I'm like @maamawaabangi - I wear an under tank (Costco spaghetti strap), and a v-neck, and pull them down to pop a boob out. 2 of my current v-necks are maternity shirts, but I plan on going shopping soon for more nursing friendly shirts.
