there wasn't a randoms/chatter thread on page 1 so I figured I'd start a new one.
Man, there is absolutely nothing in the world like your own bed. Especially when almost 6 mos pregnant. I spent the last 5 nights at my mom's sleeping on a futon thing. So uncomfortable compared to my bed with my body pillow. I am so excited to be back in my bed tonight.

Agreed. And DH is worried about kicking me and especially worried about kicking my broken foot, and tired of the pregnancy congestion causing snoring, so he's been sleeping on the couch or the guest bed. Which makes me sad, but deep down I am loving having the whole thing to myself.
I'd just like to brag for a second that my boss left work early this morning and on her way out, whispered "Leave early!" to me. So I took her up on her offer and left work at 2:15. I went grocery shopping, made dinner, did a load of laundry, played with DS and the dog. It felt so great to have so much time off after work!
@KirstinH88 I like your boss! That's style right there.
I just joined a gym. It's basically free...if I go 12 times a month. I hate gyms in January but I figured if I don't get off my butt soon, it'll never happen when baby is here.
I am going to a surprise birthday party tonight so I went out to get her a gift today. I found a good used book for only $8 but I'm still bothered by it. I just don't really think adults should have to give each other birthday gifts, except for maybe your absolute best friends. I don't have extra money for all that! Maybe this is an UO...

@cafedisco I kind of agree with the whole gift giving to adults. Even for Xmas, my dads side of the family does a Secret Santa and my moms side does a White Elephant. That's it. I'd rather have a group of friends go out for dinner or do something fun for my birthday than receive gifts anyways.
@cafedisco I agree too! Aside from my husband, the only adults I will give more than a card to is my two best friends. We've created a tradition since we live in different cities to get together twice a year and celebrate our mutual "birthmas" celebrations (Christmas/birthday) with a small gift. It's been a nice way to keep in touch but we may not even do that after baby is here.

This!!!
My Random is that I'm so excited my next door neighbor is pregnant!!! Our babies will be 4 months apart. I absolutely love her! We're not super close or hang out all the time, but I'd like to keep it that way. The more you know about someone, the more they can get on your nerves. But I can't wait!!!
Random... I love my mom so much! She is so supportive of my wishes. When I had DS, she stayed with us for a week and did all the cooking and cleaning and helped me so much with breastfeeding. This time around, she asked if she could stay again. I told her that was a lovely offer, but this time we are more experienced and I'm not nervous with a newborn. She then told me she wants to stay to take care of DS (who will be 20 months). She wants to make sure we have plenty of time to rest, bond with baby, and get on a good breastfeeding bond started, so she has lots of activities and outings planned to do with DS. I'm so lucky to have her as my mom!
@catem07 I totally agree! I am worried because we are moving soon and our new house isn't ready so we will be living with my parents for the last 3 months or so of my pregnancy. I am dreading not having my own bed at this already uncomfortable time!
Ok, I want to know why they make maternity shirts out of such thin fabric so often?! How does that make any sense? "You're gonna be huge soon, lets make you wear things that turn sheer when stretched" hmm...
My random is, I keep noticing how incorrect pregnancies are on tv. And ultrasounds and things. Like, in Scrubs for instance, they ask Jordan if she wants to find out the sex when she's like 30 weeks. And in Parks and Rec the doctor always has the ultrasound wand way above the belly button even though in both cases (spoiler?) Ann and Leslie are in the first trimester.
All this suggests to me is that labor as represented to me on tv is probably not a good source of information either.
and yes @BabyBlake.04.2017 I'm noticing that too, and my maternity belt is bulky so it's totally visible under maternity shirts. Awesome.
Last night I was laying in bed and Samuel was kicking HARD! I looked down at my stomach and I could definitely see him kicking from the outside. I just laid there and watched him for like 10 minutes and laughed every time he would kick hard enough to see from the outside. It was so cool.
@KirstinH88 yes! LO has been having dance parties the last day or two and I've done the same thing! DH is at work today so I actually took a video of all the activity so I can show him when he gets home. There was a stretch last week or so where baby was hardly active and I was starting to get really worried, so major dance parties the last couple days have made me so happy.
You guys!!! I'm so excited! After nagging DH all week, it looks like the nursery furniture is coming together! The changing table is done and the rocker just needs one more coat of paint. DH says he's going to set up the changing table and then spray the rocker one more time tmrw. I can't wait to come home from work and see it all set up in place! I'll post pictures tmrw.
Each week, DH and I watch the video on the "What To Expect" app that describes baby's development for that week. Heidi is set up in a nursery with various decor around her including my personal favorite-the exasperated apple! From afar, that piece of fruit looks over it and it cracks me up every time!
We watch that video together weekly as well, @belocin. Now maybe I'll focus exasperated apple instead of the fact that her black bra is always super obvious through her linen shirts.
@teamla From my experience, most cramping is caused by either dehydration or over-exertion...take it easy for a few days and stay hydrated!! The fact that there are no cervical changes is a good thing. Hang in there!! Thinking of you.
Thanks ladies. They suggested dehydration too but no, no IV and I've been fairly good with water. I'm ramping that up now obviously. Could also be a bug, or "irritable uterus" (???), or of course, my uterus getting ready. I'm just hoping it goes away soon or at least doesn't progress, and there's no bleeding.
With @Koukonei on hospital bed rest, and the impending (although not too soon) delivery of her babies, I was thinking we should set up a Birth Announcements thread. Do you guys think its too soon? This is the thread stolen from January (which I'm sure was stolen before as well). Do we want to make any changes to it? Should we have a Birth Announcement thread where people can post pictures and stats (time of birth, weight, length, etc) and then a separate Labor and Delivery thread where people can post about their Labor and Delivery stories? I can see the "Love Its" going well on just the Birth Announcement part, but with Labor and Delivery stories, there may be people who want to comment, ask questions, etc. I also saw another board that each individual person created their own Labor and Delivery thread if they wanted. Basically, how do you guys want to set this all up so that it flows best?

CONGRATULATIONS!
Use this thread to share baby's name, birth date, birth stats, pictures, and any other details about labor and delivery you would like to share
"Love Its" are welcome and appreciated on this thread, but please refrain from commenting with anything other than your baby's details. Save the warm wishes and congrats for individual labor/delivery/birth threads

@KirstinH88 , I like the idea of two threads as well! Also, I cannot believe we are even talking about this!!!!!
I am having trouble sleeping and I think it's because I toss and turn all night trying to get comfortable. Does anyone have a pregnancy pillow that has helped them get some zzz's?? Opinions? Thoughts? Sympathy??
I feel as if we are a small enough BMB that if people want to post invidiual labor/birth stories it wouldn't be too overwhelming. Some of the other boards are a lot bigger than ours is. I know I'd be really happy to support everyone and hear how their birth went on individual threads. Its easier to have a conversation that way. But maybe a general birth announcement lost could also exist for those who don't have as much time?

I think I agree with this. There really aren't that many regular posters, or even just semi-regular ones, like me, to overwhelm the board. I'm sure we'll get a few randos who come out of the woodwork to share, but hey. Individual threads are easy to ignore if necessary
And also agreed that it's crazy we've reached the point to have a birth and labor thread convo! The weeks and months are going by absurdly fast!!
That is a good point about us being on the smaller side. That probably would actually be doable.
@Omie_Wise I bought the snoogle mini. It's small enough to be comfortable and not overhwhelm my queen sized bed, but big enough to support me, reduce heartburn, and keep me in one spot all night.
My random comment for the day: I seem to have already reached the involuntary grunting stage when bending to get something or when getting up off the couch. It's going to be a long 3+ months...
In regards to the individual Labor and Delivery threads, TBH, if mine is uneventful, then I probably won't even post a story about it. But be prepared for baby pictures!!!
@thecavfamily omg you'd think someone would be like, maybe this outfit isn't the best choice with that bra...lol that's hilarious.
@teamla hopefully it's just the dehydration and it eases up soon! I know I can get some if I'm not drinking enough water or if I've really over-done it sometimes.
My random, and hopefully I haven't missed this before in other threads--I don't get a lot of time on here to read as much as I'd like! A coworker told me the other day that when her sister was pregnant (about 1yr ago), she heard that bras with underwire can restrict milk from coming in when the baby is born. This came up bc I was telling another friend about how I've been wearing a nursing bra since like 12w because my regulars bras were so uncomfortable and I couldn't take it anymore. Has anyone heard this before? Asking because I'm just really curious and never heard anything like it before lol.
@ashleym112 I had never heard that before! Wonder if there is any truth to it. Underwire is all I wear....
same. Maybe i should start going commando the last couple of days before my scheduled c-section? Last time it took like 3 days for milk to start coming in, and that's because I was using the machine trying to suck out whatever was in there.
@ashleym112 I had also heard that underwire isn't suggested for nursing moms but my chest size is large enough that I needed support so I wore underwire up to delivery then had underwire in my nursing bras. I was able to nurse for 15 months so I wasn't impacted. Having said that, it's a prevalent enough comment that there must be some truth behind it.
I thought the underwire issue was more about mastitis? Like, there's a worry you're more likely to get a blocked duct and then mastitis with underwire? FWIW, I needed underwire nursing bras for adequate support, and while I did get mastitis once about a month after DD was born, it wasn't because of the bras I was wearing but because I was out all day long for my best friend's wedding and at that point was too shy to breastfeed around people I knew like my friend's male relatives. I went WAY too long that day without nursing DD and used bottles instead. I'm pretty sure that's what brought about my mastitis.
Underwire bras never affected my supply, personally. My milk came in two days after she was born, and I had crazy oversupply. Still nursing her 2-3 times a day nearly three years later.
I posted the Birth Announcements thread, but figured I can edit/change it if enough people disagree about it... But I don't really see an issue with it.
@ashleym112 I've heard of the underwire thing inhibiting glandular tissue growth. I wore underwires till I delivered and had low supply, but there were a LOT of other factors too. I'd definitely buy the clogged duct thing though, those are literally a pain!
I may still have over 3 months to go, but I've almost finished collecting everything for my birth kit, including washing and bleaching my birth pool today. Next I guess I'm writing my birth plans?
Re: Randoms (12/27)
I got some alone Target shopping time tonight. Camelbak water bottles are on sale, so I got one for each of us. Toddler pants were also 20% off.
