I keep seeing the name Everest as a suggested boy name on various websites and I'm curious what people's opinion on the name is? I like the way it sounds but I'm not sure if the whole Mount Everest connection is too much. What would you think if you heard this as someone's name?
If I met a child named Everest I would assume the parents were fairly to moderately pretentious. I do like the sound of it in a vacuum, but naming your child after the world's tallest mountain is a lot.
Also just trying to think of possible mean nns kids could find and came up with "Mounting Everest." So now it sounds like a porn star to me, thanks brain.
For me, Everest falls into the the realm of names that will cause an assumption about that person. I once talked to a "Hunter," who said people constantly asked him if he actually liked to hunt. With Everest, I think people would ask him if he likes to climb mountains/wants to climb Mt. Everest.
I agree with PP that Everett is a good alternative!
