  • @Xath that stocking is beautiful!  Hope your little one feels better and nobody else gets the stomach bug.

  • @Mother0fDragons that is my dream Christmas.  We always have to run out and see my ILs on Christmas.  I am thankful though this year I don't have to fight with them about the morning because they are getting together at 2 which I am a bit better about.

  • We are a baking cookies for Santa and cleaning the house today.  Tomorrow evening we go to my parents for tasty appetizers and opening one gift for our gift exchange.  I am so excited to see the kids faces when they open gifts because they have been asking for some of the things we got them for months.  Christmas afternoon it is off to MILs to celebrate with my husband as family.

  • Every holiday is a marathon.

Today after work I'm food shopping for Xmas morning. Then baking cookies with my DD. Then cleaning my house.

Xmas eve we go to my grandparents for dinner at 4. Then my fiance's grandmother's for more food and white elephant at 9. Xmas day my parents and siblings come over to watch my DD open presents. Then we go to my parents house around 1 to exchange gifts with my extended family. Then we go to dinner and gifts at my fiance's parents' house around 6. Sometimes I'm like "Maybe we should move away..."
  • It looks like we will be doing our "gender" reveal on Christmas Day with both families and hopefully some close friends, too. I've been toting around the envelope with sex of my baby for some time now and my sister does not believe I haven't opened it yet.

I think I'll buy a helium tank and balloons and entrust my SIL (who juuuuuust cannnt keeeeep a secret) with the envelope to prep the box. Slim pickings when your besties are busy with their families.
  • We are visiting family so needless to say it's been crazy and will continue to be so. Today we are packing up and moving from my mom's house to my fils house. Because he complained about not having enough time with the kids. He does have a lot of fun things planned so today should be fun. Tomorrow is a picnic at his house for lunch, Christmas Eve party at my grandparents house in the evening. Christmas day is stockings at fils in the morning, Santa presents at my grandparents, then Christmas dinner at my sister in laws with all the cousins. There will be 12 kids total...

Seriously I need wine. But I'll settle for coffee.

Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
  • I'm still recovering from a stomach bug today. Hoping DH doesn't get it on Christmas! We are so excited to have a low key Christmas for once! Especially since next year will be crazy with the baby! Tomorrow DH is working (he works retail) and then we are going to dinner. Sunday we will exchange gifts with each other in the morning then head to his aunts house for brunch then my grandparents house for the afternoon. They are both about 2 hours away so not bad! We celebrated Christmas with our parents and siblings at Thanksgivng when we were all in Arizona. It was awesome to do it early and have everyone together. My mom is already thinking about what to do next year... ugh..

  • Omg your schedules are making me need a nap.  My plans for the next 3 days are to eat Christmas cookies at my mom and dad's house while in my pajamas.  Then eat an absurd amount of food because I can't drink.
  • Might be skipping out on this years family Christmas.  My hubby's mother and step dad are getting over pneumonia.  His sister just tested positive for Type A Flu whatever that is and 2 of the younger kids are sick with colds.  My midwife strongly warned me not to go and be around all the sick folks in the family.  We were planning to reveal to the family what the baby is and finally tell them what's been going on with her.  We haven't disclosed any of the issues to anyone at this point.  Hubby needs to let it out and vent to them.  Which I totally understand.  He doesn't have a group of internet friends to talk to :-)
  • I'm also jealous of @Mother0fDragons I would love to do absolutely nothing on a holiday for once.

Today I'm cleaning and prepping for my mom and her husband to come over Christmas morning. DH promised weeks ago that he would pick up gifts for his parents and brother as I literally have picked out and wrapped every other gift we have purchased. Of course he still hasn't done it so that will need to be done today. Tomorrow we're going to my in-laws to open gifts and eat way too much. Christmas Day is going to be a killer with a one year old who needs two naps a day and will only nap at home. Christmas morning my mom is coming over for breakfast, in the afternoon we're going to my sister's and in the evening it's back to the in-laws for dinner. So. Tired.
  • I am finishing up the blanket I am making for DH today, then running to target to finish up stocking stuffers for him, then wrapping a few more gifts before family gets in tomorrow.

That is is once I get out of bed and dressed.

  • I'm not trying to be the Debbie Downer, but I have an appointment with my primary care to discuss treatment options for the depression and anxiety I've developed during this pregnancy. I'm rather bummed that I have to go hash out my feelings right before Christmas (I'm worried it will put me in a bad mood for the weekend). I'm pretty sure I had PPD with my daughter, but I kept making excuses about it and wouldn't admit it and it's coming back to bite me in the butt with this pregnancy. I'm hoping I can stay away from taking medication because I'm scared of the side effects. Any other mamas out there on this type of medication? Any thoughts or perspectives?

On a positive note, my presents are all wrapped and I'm so excited for my 14mo to open her presents Christmas morning!
  • @sarahannexvi I have been on celexa for anxiety for a year and a half or so. I was told when I was prescribed it that it was ok during pregnancy. When I got pregnant I checked with my OB and she said with certain medications especially for depression and anxiety that the benefits outweigh the risks. The only side effect I had from this particular one was extreme fatigue. Because no one told me to take it at night!! There was a thread about medications on the 1st tri board. I was thinking of starting one here.

  • Last day of work! We had a little breakfast party with my students and one brought bagels with Nutella, one of my pregnancy cravings and now we are watching Home Alone. School is over in 34 minutes!

We are seeing all our family tomorrow - we are from the same home town about an hour from our house so its hectic but relatively easy to see everyone in one day. Then spending Sunday just us and our cats! :)

  • I have today off work and tonight I'm going out to dinner with a friend from high school whose home for try holidays. Tomorrow night my mother in law is coming for dinner and gifts. Sunday morning we have breakfast at my husbands step grandmas house. Then back home for nap time for my son. In the evening we are doing Christmas with my side of the family. Monday my mom wants to go after Christmas shopping but I don't know if I want to go.

    Merry Christmas to you all!!
  • Going to my parents tomorrow evening for hristmas festivities, then we'll have Sunday as a family, and Monday will be the inlaws house and H's grandparent's weird Christmas party that I hate, but is at least not on Christmas.
  • @alm52386 oh no! I'll be sure to ask about fatigue if I get prescribed something! I think a thread would be really beneficial. I don't feel comfortable talking to friends or family about it (besides my husband) because I feel like they wouldn't understand or know what to say. It's easier talking to people who are going through it or have gone through it before.

@Xath thank you for the kind words
  • @sarahannexvi So sorry you're going through this. I can't speak to the depression part, but I have gotten SO much out of therapy in terms of anxiety. Might be something worth looking into. Regardless of the route you take, I'm so glad you are getting help. Good luck!
  • @delujm0 I love that pattern!  It is so cute!  You're right about setting yourself up though.  I feel like I've been making stockings for years now....I'm about to just buy 4 more kits I like because it seems like every time it's time to make a new stocking, the one I had my eye on is discontinued, and I end up spending 3x the money on it.

The kids and my H have their stockings now; I've finally started on mine and will have to find one for this LO too.

  • @sarahannexvi I'm glad you're getting help. I have social anxiety and general depression and they're both so magnified during pregnancy. I know it's rough and I'm proud of you for not staying silent and reaching out for the help you need.
  • @sarahannexvi I don't have advice on medications. I am going to give you a BIG kudos for speaking up when you notice something is off. I wish I would have had the courage to speak up earlier when I was expecting DD.
Big hugs and you'll be in my thoughts as you deal with this.

@Wearmi1 Maybe FaceTime or Skype with the family? Then you can see each other to share your joy and your concerns without getting exposed to the germs. I cannot even imagine how hard it's been for your husband without an outlet to vent. Good luck to you both!!

Our weekend plans are pretty tame. The Mr got upset with both our families at Thanksgiving for always making us go to them for the holidays. He put his foot down and said we are staying home for Christmas. Anyone who wants to spend it with us is invited. It will be nice to just relax!! That and FRIED CHICKEN!! I'm very excited about this meal... hahaha

  • My father got his official cancer diagnosis yesterday, so I've altered plans to spend more time with him this weekend, as he'll have surgery to remove the tumor on NYE and and extensive recovery. So tomorrow we are spending the day with him and then on Christmas we spend with my mother and brother (different father). That's it though, an easy, breezy weekend. I have Monday off, but my father has asked to go to the casinos, so the girls and I will have a girls day and DH will go gamble with him. Cool with me.
  • @Stankonia2014 Sorry about that official diagnosis. Glad you'll get some quality time with him this weekend.
  • @Stankonia2014 I know how rough that is. Creepy internet hugs. I'm glad you're going to be able to have some quality time with your father.
  • @Stankonia2014 I'm sorry to hear about your dad.  I've missed other posts about this, but I hope it's easily treated and he's in remission soon.

  • Thanks guys.  He was diagnosed with stage 4a squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth, lymph nodes, and mandible, so they essentially are removing a portion of his mandible (lower jaw bone), then removing his fibula (smaller bone in lower leg) and recreating his mandible with the fibula.  Which the anatomy and physiology geek in me is totally fascinated, but it sounds pretty rough on him.

We had to skype with my parents last Xmas because my mom couldn't fly due to kidney stones. It was super strange but better than nothing!

Hugs.  I'm glad there's a treatment plan.  I know someone who went through a similar procedure; they recommended asking the PT/OT for exercises to do ahead of the surgery to make recovery easier.

  • @sarahannexvi I also have dealt with depression and anxiety, and PPD. I'm on Zoloft now to help my current symptoms and to prevent PPD. I initially experienced the common side effects (nausea, fatigue), but I couldn't tell what was side effects and what was just being pregnant. Once it passed, I did feel better.
It's wonderful you're getting some help. You're so brave for admitting you need it. Big hugs to you. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
  • @delujm0 @FSUNole31 Those stockings are beautiful!
@Knottie42089123 Props to you for carrying around that envelope and not peeking so you can have that moment with family! We are team green, but if I had the sex written down in an envelope there is no way I would have the self-control to wait that long.
  • @Xath My Mom cross stitched stockings for all the grandkids. They are so special and yours is SO beautiful!!
I love seeing that style stocking as it makes me all happy/reminiscent of Mom   o:)

  • @xath bless you...DH and I don't have stockings bc I don't have time for that.  Ha.  In my house growing up only the kids had stockings anyway.

Sorry to hear about your dad @Stankonia2014.  Hugs.
  • @sarahannexvi I had PPD with DS and was on zoloft for it, then got my dosage upped when my anxiety got out of control during my last semester of nursing school and plan to go back on it again after this baby as a preventative for PPD. I didn't notice any major side effects but I took it at night so I don't know if that helped or not.

So sorry to hear about your dad, @Stankonia2014. Big hugs.
