Re: 12/19-12/25 Appointments, ultrasounds, bloodwork etc
Ultrasound, GBS test and hopefully a cervix check.
I'm also thinking of getting tested for GBS privately here as they don't offer it as routine on the NHS. It's sort of stressing me out.
Currently at 36+2. Had GBS last week, waiting for results... have another NST this week. Hopefully everything stays hunky dory.
Is everyone else this uncomfortable? I feel like a walrus trying to do needlepoint.
I hope all your appointments go well!
My doc hasn't mentioned the GBS test. Is that done if you are having a c/s or no? Maybe she is waiting to find out how the babies are positioned since last u/s they were both breech.

I'll have my 36 week appt. a week from today to have the gbs swab and cervix check. With my first I was positive, and I was negative with the second. The antibiotics burned SO badly each round going into my arm so I was thrilled to be negative the second time around.

She thinks the baby may be quite big (which I agree) just because you can't move him around at all. He seems very cramped (more than usual I guess) so she is going to send me for an U/S. I go on Tuesday just to check the weight and fluid. If you were just to look at me I don't think anyone would think the baby is that big, but I definitely have been wondering how he is fitting in there especially seeing he has been in the same spot for a full week and his feet continue to rest in my ribs (so uncomfortable!).
I also tested positive for GBS. My Dr. is okay with either taking the antibiotics or declining them. She said there is lots of new research about how bacteria is actually healthy for children especially if they have their parents to do skin to skin with and develop healthy antibodies from. She would make me stay an extra day to observe the baby though. It doesn't seem like declining antibiotics is common in North America at all (I am in Canada) but we are really the only countries that even test for GBS so part of me wonders why. Also I am not a fan of antibiotics as I became resistant as a kid and had tons of health problems due to overuse for a serious infection I had in grade school. There is research that newborn antibiotic use lowers healthy gut bacteria as well as makes the baby more susceptible to other sickness. I am very much on the fence and if I went in today I would probably just take the antibiotics but DH and I really do plan to think about it a lot more. I hate that I am positive in the first place though, it makes for such a tough decision. I wish best practice was more researched, I can't find a single good medical journal about the effects of either decision.
She wasn't sure what percentage effaced, but at the last check it was 50%, so she said, "Definitely more than that, it's extremely soft and ripe, but still very posterior and completely closed." She said it was very favorable and based on the progress, she's expecting me to go into natural labor sometime in the next week or so, with the conclusion, "It could really happen any day now."
We also discussed induction options and agreed 1 week past due date (January 8th) if I haven't gone by then, but she said she expects a natural labor to occur before then based on what she felt and suspects my labor will progress quick and without needing any assistance. Estimated little dude at around 7 pounds even.
I'm a mix of a lot of emotions right now. I've had a very normal, healthy pregnancy overall, not difficult or challenging, so I'm not like, "YESSSS IT'S ALMOST OVER!!!" so I'm excited to meet little guy but also just ready for him to call the shots on when that time is. I'm also not showing too many pre-labor signs so I've accepted that labor may really just hit out of nowhere and so I'm a little nervous knowing it may not be a gradual lead-in. It's all good though.
