  • the strainer that 3/4 of a box of spaghetti was in. The handle broke and the whole thing flew out of my hand and the pasta went all over the floor. So much for leftovers.

  • @kerils oof the WORST!!

Today the TW in my life is my family who puts a million rules around gift-giving and then returns anything anyone gets for them anyway. So basically it takes all the joy out of giving presents and leaves only the stress #alreadyoverit

  • THIS!! My in laws do this every year. I hate it. Grown ass women sending us a list of what they want for Christmas, then asking for the receipts. This year I got everything on sale and used coupons. I hope you enjoy returning that sweater you asked for that ends up costing us like $10! Take that TW's!!

Mine goes with this kind of. My TW Tuesday is all the super specific gifts people want that I can't flipping find in the stores?! I waited to long and it won't be in time if I order online. Ugh. Now I'm about to drive out of town to a larger area and see what I can find!!!! If not, gift cards for all!!! HAHAHAH As I stated many times in a few posts I'm so over Christmas and everything that comes along with it.
  • Can a day of the week be my TW? If so, it's Wednesday. Specifically tomorrow, only because there's about a 90% chance that DH will be able to take Thursday off and we'll be able to head home for the holidays Thursday morning instead of late Thursday night. Which means all Wednesday will be is a big ole boring work day separating me from family and vacation!

  • Today, it's my dad. My sister and I are switching off pet and house sitting duties for our parents while they are on vacation. Today my sister texted me asking where our dad's truck was. After me furiously calling towing companies, my sister knocking on the neighborhood doors to ask, and my sister emailing our parents (who are only checking email once a day at the moment because of where they are), my sister figures out that she recognizes the car. My sister then proceeds to call every number we have to ask the family if they borrowed the truck. Surprise: they did because my dad offered. MY DAD FAILED TO TELL HIS DAUGHTERS WHO ARE WATCHING THEIR HOUSE THIS! I was getting ready to call the cops. Dad is now on my poop list. So mad. And the raging hormones have not helped the situation either.

  • Fucking DMV. I know it's the 7th layer of hell to begin with, but 2 hours to renew a license with an 18 month old? That took it to a whole different level!
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Unfortunately, it is my mother (today).  She just called and said "We're going to (some restaurant 30mi from my house) dinner for your Step Dad's Birthday.  We expect your husband to be there".  Dinner is at 6 and I don't want to go.  That requires a shower and real clothes...Also DH will have just gotten home from work all so we can get back in the car and drive back into town...(I asked my mom to pick me up to save the extra drive for DH - but she is too busy to do so, and doesn't want to get stuck in traffic).  Ugh.  I just wanted more than a couple of hours notice - and a restaurant that is BETWEEN my house and theirs.  Whatever.  I am just sick of her last minute plans and the expectation that we can comply.  They are retired and have quickly forgotten what it is like to balance work, home, and commuting in a HUGE city full of crappy traffic...

Can you go to a title company to renew your license? I that is an option in some states.
  • My TW is our justice system in NM and the way it caters to drunk drivers.

In September DH and DD were hit by a lady who was driving drunk and who had no insurance. Totaled his truck and we ended up paying a ton of money out of pocket to get DH a new one. They had court today and the cops all stood up for her said she was really sorry and that she felt bad. Well yeah she should she blew a freakin .18! She was given only 72 hours in jail and nothing else, no community service, ignition interlock, nothing! I am livid and so glad I was not there because I probably would have gone to jail for going off on her. I support our police 100% but I'm so pissed that they all suggested she get the minimum sentence. I know that we are extremely lucky that DD and DH came out completely unharmed but I'm still so mad.

  • @cssme13 wow I am so sorry that happened to you and DH. Very scary! Did this woman have her license taken away? I certainly hope so. Drunk driving should be taken very seriously and I think your reaction of being angry is spot on! Glad you are both safe.

Nope! She only has to do the 3 days in jail and she gets to drive free and clear. Didn't even get a ticket for having no insurance because the officers forgot to put that in the report, my husband is the one who told the judge about it.

  • The lady who lives above me has like bricks for feet. Some backstory: I called the office once and she keyed my car. She's a real peach.

Say whaaaaaaat?!?!?!?! First, I'm so glad DH & DD were OKAY physically! But mentally, it would take me a long time to recover from me and DS being hit by a drunk driver! I would never drive again. I would get anxiety about it. I can't believe she only got 3 day in jail?!?! No tickets or license taken away?! I hate when drunk driving isn't taken seriously!!!!! Rage!!!
  • @cssme13 I'm so mad for you. Your insurance doesn't go after her? Or they won't pay you until they get paid?  Why the hell would the cops stick up for her??? Ugh

@cssme13 I feel people in that situation should get some kind of vehicular homicide. Just because she got lucky and didn't seriously hurt anyone she's off the hook. Maybe op, or atleast to extreme but I think it's bc ur dd was in the car your story really struck me.
  • @LoveLee85 it took my DH a couple weeks to finally get comfortable driving again. Luckily my dad is retired PD and he was the car seat installer for the department so he puts all of ours in, I hate to think what would've happened if DD's seat was installed wrong.

@morgarita unfortunately we are fighting that battle too. Our original quote from the dealership that we took the truck to said it was salvageable and gave us an amount, insurance cut the check but then the truck ended up being a total loss so we ended up working with a friend of the family and he was able to take the truck as it was and get DH into a new truck but it was still a pain in the butt. In our area and state DWI/DUI is such a common thing. There are tons of people in our county alone with 5 or 6 DWI's with a vehicle and a license still. It's ridiculous and extremely frustrating. And the cops said that she cooperated at the scene and was nice and apologetic so she should only get a minimum sentence, of course she was sorry she got caught!

  • @cssme13 so sorry you and your family had to go through this. I would highly recommend you speak to a personal injury attorney, if you haven't already done so. You may be able to recoup some of your property damage costs as well as be compensated for any injuries. Most PI attys do free consults so you wouldn't have anything to lose in meeting with them. Just a thought- in the meantime I'm glad you all are ok and that you were able to get your husband into a new vehicle.
  • @oheliza44 unfortunately it would cost us more in court/attorney fees than we would get in a lawsuit, even if we did get a judgement there's no way to collect. We've looked into and as far as the attorney (who is a family friend) could find she is not employed and has no source of income so it would be sort of a dead end. We are just thankful everything could be replaced and luckily DH and DD has zero injuries.

  • Agreed- your family's safety is most important. I just hate when stuff like this happens and there is no way to hold the guilty party responsible. Unfortunately I encounter situations similar to yours all too often and it makes my blood boil.
