Re: TTCAL Check-In Week of 12-19

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.)  WTO, CD 5. Have my HSG and various other blood work scheduled for 12/22 this week.

    3. Rants/Raves. Other than it being the week before Christmas, there really isn't anything to rave about here. H and I should be on vacation right now but after a long 13+ hours at the airport Saturday, two canceled flights, and no plan to get us to D.C. until late last night or Monday morning, we scrapped the trip. Now I'm dealing with getting refunds and hoping like hell my one bag - which wasn't supposed to be on a plane anywhere but of course they can't locate - makes its quick return. Guys, it's been a real terrible year.

    4. GTKY: What was the last movie you watched? Did you like it?  Hmm, in theaters it was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I liked it because I generally love all things Harry Potter. At home, I watched How to be Single, which was just okay.

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) possibly benched, also WTO. My OB gave us the go ahead to try again before AF returns, but only if we are emotionally ready. I got a negative pregnancy test today at 2 weeks post D&C which is a good sign my body is recovering. I also started temping and use OPKs. so we decided not to prevent this cycle, but we aren't exactly actively TTC either.

    3. Rants/Raves- crazy weekend the airport turned a 7 hr trip duration into a full 24 hrs. Which meant that our pup got to spend 24 hrs in his crate for his first ever airline trip. Thank goodness for pet relief stations in airports.

    4. GTKY: What was the last movie you watched? Did you like it? We don't make it to theaters much, so the last movie we watched was Star Trek Beyond from redbox. We really liked it!

@laeberge3 I'm so sorry your vacation was ruined. 2016 is indeed the worst. GL with your testing this week, though. Hopefully you get some answers and a plan to move forward in 2017!

@babypi oh man, I would not want to be trapped for 24 hours in an airport with an anxious pup! Also, I totally understand the "trying but not trying" mentality.

    1. Not new, but see new faces, unfortunately. Me: 33, DH: 34. MC#1 Dec 2015, MC#2 Mar/Apr 2016. Benched for a long time for RPL testing and then emotional health reasons. No causes found for RPL, so we're on our second cycle of trying naturally again and hoping third time will be the charm.

    2. WTO, CD10 I think.

    3. It was an exhausting, but fun, weekend. Had a work happy hour on Friday for a colleague who is leaving, Saturday we did a crawl and visited 5 microbreweries with 20 friends, yesterday we went to the movies and brunch, and then did all the household errands and holiday cookie baking. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend... I'm pretty happy with my cookies though. I made chocolate crinkle cookies which taste like brownie bites covered in powdered sugar. And I made chocolate and vanilla striped shortbread cookies. The stripes are a little wonky and crooked on some of the cookies, but they still taste good. I still need to make my cream cheese sugar cookies this week, and then I'll be satisfied with my holiday cookie baking for the year.

As far as rants go, I've been having some up and down moments lately. This morning is OK though, so I'll take it.

    4. Rogue One yesterday! It was pretty good, and that's coming from someone who is not a huge Star Wars fan. It's kind of like watching "Titanic" though. Because you know this movie comes before the first original one, you already know what the ending is and what the likely fate of the characters is, but it was still well done. Last night I also watched "The Queen" on HBO, which I liked. But Helen Mirren is generally wonderful in anything she does.
  • Status: 13dpo. Bfn on 11 & 12 dpo. Waiting for af I guess. I tested on 15dpo and had a faint line last time.

Rant: was hopeful this cycle. Stinks that there are triggers everywhere. Went to paint night with my colleagues and one of them whispered "you are drinking cranberry juice, you are either pregnant or you don't drink". I don't drink but people need to mind their own business.

I do not remember the last time we went to the movies.

@laeberge3 and @babypi miserable just miserable

  • @laeberge3- GL with the HSG this week. I hope you will get some answers soon. Im so sorry you couldn't go on your trip too I know you were looking forward to that. I hope you get your bag soon too!
@babypi- Im sorry about the travel troubles esp with the pup in the crate.
@riversong15 - Glad you had fun on the brewery tour - I love doing things like that and your cookies sound delish! I hear you on the ups and downs lately.
@SP128 - I was really hopeful this cycle too and its just hard to be hopeful again for anther cycle. I hear you on the triggers every where esp around this time of year. I hate it when people comment on whether or not Im drinking - its like seriously mind your own business!

    AFM
1.) MMC in March and another in August.

    2.) CD 6

3.) Rave - my cute puppy -she has brought a lot of joy into our lives already and she has been really good so far.
Rant - just ups and downs lately. We started ttc in January of 2014 - we self benched, NTNP a few cylces and 2 mcs in there) but I just cant' believe its been 2 years. Ive seen so many people in my IRL announces pg and go on to have babies and people on this site come and go and I just wonder when it is going to be my time?  I know you are told to just think positive and be hopeful but its hard when you are continuously disappointed.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results and that is what this process feels like.

4.) Last movie I saw in the theater was Fantastic Beasts _ i enjoyed it bec Im a big Harry Potter fan but it was darker and grittier than HP and just didn't measure up to those movies. I watched the Imitation Game on netflix over the weekend and that was good.
  • @laeberge3 Damn, you just can't catch a break!  I hope the holidays offer some sort of reprieve from the shit you have had to deal with!

@babypi I'm sure the pup was happy because he was with you!  Better than being in a kennel.  Sorry for your travel woes.

@RiverSong15 I feel the same about Rogue One.  I have to make some vegan cookies for xmas eve and I don't even know where to start.  I am NOT a baker.

    @SP128 People are dumb.

    afm

    1. Me-36 DH-33 we started ttc in June.  Got pg in August.  Ectopic discovered 9/22.  6 shots of methotrexate.

    2.  Still waiting for AF after 13 weeks. I think I am 10dpo.  Who the ef knows though.  I have been having terrible luck with temping and opks because I have never done it before.

    3.  Rant:  So I get to work this morning and I do a squat in my leggings to pick something up and rrrrrrrip.  My leggings split down the back and around the side, and it was bad.  Basically  the entire leg was hanging by a few inches of material.  Bare ass and everything. I had to think quick and wrapped my flannel around my waist and put on a smock. (I'm an art teacher.)  All day long I have been feeling a cool breeze on my bare ass.  I am just happy there were no kids in the room!

     4. I saw Rogue 1 last Thursday.  I did also just binge watch the Netflix series The OA.  Wow, is all I have to say.

@SP128 Sorry for the BFNs. And really, people need to mind their own business. That's so rude.

@justsuzie Ah, gotta love Mondays! At least you had a good back up plan to cover your ass (see what I did there? ;) ). I'd be SOL at work if that happened to me! I'm not a vegan, but it looks like the recipe for the chocolate crinkle cookies may be since it uses vegetable oil and unsweetened 100% cocoa powder? They are delicious...

@TScalei Yay for puppies! I'm also a big HP fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by Fantastic Beasts. I went in expecting it to be a shameless money grab, and I was happy to see a well thought-out storyline and good acting. It's not HP, but I thought it was really good in its own rights. Since they are making 5 of them, I'm guessing they will be doing the story of Grindelwald's rise and fall, which would mean showing a young Dumbledore defeating Grindelwald - and that would be amazing to watch.
  • @laeberge3 That sucks! I'm sorry you didn't get to take your vacation. I hope they find your bags soon!

@RiverSong15 thanks! It's been really helpful to connect with ladies who know what this process is like, I just wish none of us needed to go through it. Your brewery trip sounds wonderful! What a fun way to spend the weekend.

@SP128 I'm sorry people are so nosy. I rarely ever drink either, so people are forever trying to guess why. Usually I play the dd card so they leave me alone. Haha, often gets me free soda at bars too.

@TScalei I hope you get your rainbow soon! I'm glad you have your sweet puppy to brighten your life.

@justsuzie Our pup was absolutely golden during the trip, not a peep out of him, we didn't even have to give him his sedatives for anxiety. So I think you're right, he was just super grateful to be coming along for the trip. And man, that sucks about your leggings. I can't even imagine. :-( Also, I hope AF shows up soon!

  • @riversong15 - I am glad they are touching on the Grindelwald/Dumbledore story line and seeing Dumbledore defeat Grindelwald will be amazing! I loved all the references to HP hidden in the movie as well. Did you read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child yet?

@justsuzie - That story made me laugh this morning - good recovery though! lol Im sorry you are still waiting for AF - hopefully it won't be much longer.
  • @Wingless00 it was our first time flying with a dog. I was so nervous but he handled it amazingly well. I love hearing about your kitten, so rave away! So cute!! I also saw you mention before that he's helping with the dissertation writing process, what is your degree in?

Argh! Can I retroactively add to my rants? I've been seeing a therapist who I love. But since the end of October we've had scheduling issues. She had an ongoing family emergency that cancelled a few appointments, then her schedule was too full to get me back in for 6 weeks. I saw her at the end of October and then not again until the second week of December. Now, she's sick and had to cancel our last two appointments. She may have pneumonia and so I'm guessing I won't be able to see her until after Christmas. This means I've seen her once in two months, when I was used to seeing her weekly.

Don't get me wrong, I really hope she feels better, and she shouldn't be coming to work with pneumonia, and I totally understand family emergencies. I'm just sad for myself. My first loss anniversary is the day after Christmas, and with all the drama with my mother this year, the holidays make me extra sad. I feel like everything about Christmas this year has a blue tinge to it, and I hate it. I loved Christmas as a kid. I could really use her supportive and helpful ear over the next week. I'm just struggling right now. Ugh.

ETA: @Wingless00 I get maybe a couple nights off this week? We're going to a friends house for dinner and out with other friends two nights this week, and we leave for the holidays on Friday. One night I need to do Christmas shopping, so.... Tonight? Tonight is my night off.

@TScalei I heard so many bad things about the Cursed Child that I decided not to read it. I heard some of the spoilers though, and they just seemed so unlikely and like a break from core HP cannon.
  • @RiverSong15 I'm sorry you're having scheduling issues with your therapist. Does she have anyone covering her appointments that you trust to talk to?

  • I'm on the tail end of lunch so I will post and then be back to respond to all you lovely ladies after my commute home this evening.

    1. Introduce yourself (if you're new) not new but there are new faces. Had a blighted ovum diagnosed in January 2016 and a MMC June of 2016.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) Currently in tww, cd 21 and 7dpo. Trying not to get BSC, and so far so good. I am trying to stay in the mindset of what happens, happens.

    3. Rants - I keep having dreams of being pregnant and it is not helping my sleep, my temps, and is not helping with my keeping the BSC at bay.
Rave - I have all of my baking/candy making done, minus the frosting of sugar cookies which will be done at some point this week after work.

These are my turtles that I was working on. Giving them all a chocolate bath.

    Plain caramels.
And I seemed to have lost my sugar cookies pictures. Also made pecan wedding cakes (but they are actually cookies so I don't get the name), chocolate dipped potatoes chips (something new we are trying), and my mom made fudge. And because I made all of it (and sampled) I really have no interest in eating it right now.

    4. GTKY: DH and I went to Rogue One on Saturday (I really only went because of DH). I thought it was good. Usually I don't like the robots but I thought he had some good one liners. And then last night I think DH thought I was setting him up in a trap cuz 1) I told him I didn't want anything for Christmas and 2) told him I wanted to watch Stars Wars episode 4 (and I never want to watch star wars). I wanted to piece the movies together and I hadn't seen episode 4 since 2003 and to tell ya the truth didn't pay that close attention. Overall good movie weekend.

    4. GTKY: What was the last movie you watched? Did you like it?  I can't recall the last movie. DH and I rarely go to the movies.  We usually just watch movies on amazon or something. I think we watched Bad Moms recently which was funny
  • @RiverSong15 Thanks...I will be daring and give it a try!  I'll let you know my results.  Keep in mind I am a baking novice.  I have never made anything that wasn't from a box.  Here goes nothing! And, sorry about your difficulties with therapy.  This seems like a very hard time of year for you.  I hope you are able to find support where you can.

@Wingless00 I teach elementary art.  I have k-4th. Love it! And fx that your symptom  will equal a bfp!

@stephann85 I am jealous of your baking skills.  Beautiful!

@Mack2342  I actually watched Bad Moms a few weeks ago when I was super bummed and that movie seriously had me laughing out loud.  It probably wasn't that funny, but it was either laugh or cry!

  • I'm sorry @RiverSong15 - awful time for your therapist to be unavailable when you need her the most. Hoping xmas is better for you (and all of us) next year.

@laeberge3 Sorry about your trip. Mother Nature just sucks all around this year.

@babypi Glad your puppy did well on your trip. Just sucks that his first trip he is stuck in an airport/airplane for so long.

@RiverSong15 Just reading about your weekend makes me want to take a nap, but it sounded like a lot of fun. And your chocolate crinkle cookies sound delicious.

@SP128 So sorry that your coworker is so rude. Not sure why people think it is ok to stink their noses into other people's business. I recently quit drinking caffeine and had a coworker ask if I was pregnant because I didn't have my usual mug of coffee.

@TScalei So happy that it was a good weekend with the new puppy. And I had thought of going to see Fantastic Beast but didn't want to be super let down if it didn't stand up to the HP movies. I might have to consider renting it once it comes out on dvd.

@justsuzie Your post made me LOL at my desk today. Glad that you came up with a "half assed" solution. :D Butt in all seriousness, I hope you made it through the day alright.

@justsuzie , @SP128 , and @TScalei Thank you for the compliment on the baking, I'm just kinda glad it is over LOL. And I was thinking of everyone while I was baking so decided to take pics to share.

@babypi @justsuzie @SP128 @TScalei Thanks ladies. It helps so much to be able to talk to you all and just vent. I promise I'll try to be less all-over-the-place with my emotions once this month is over!

@stephann85 the chocolate crinkle cookies are delicious. I just ate a couple as an appetizer :) Your baking is seriously impressive. Caramels look delicious. @justsuzie I promise the chocolate cookies are easy. Let me know how you like them. :)
  • @stephann85 - your baking looks wonderful- great job!!

@SP128 - I agree I love having this community to vent too. Just organizing my thoughts and typing out how I'm feeling can be therapeutic and make me feel better.

@Wingless00 - your kitty is so adorable. Yay for your DH being around too - that is always great.
  • @RiverSong15 and @TScalei Thanks! Homemade caramel is super easy to make but you have to constantly stir it for like 20 minutes so I am definitely feeling it today lol.

  • @RiverSong15 Don't apologize here.  Not necessary at all, not even a little bit.  I feel like here is the only place anyone understands me and allows me to feel what I am actually feeling instead of what they think I should be feeling.
  • @RiverSong15 I'm so happy that you found a therapist you like but bummed that she hasn't been available for sessions! It does sound like you have an extra load of emotional burdens this month. I second @justsuzie to please not apologize. Venting can help both the ventor and the ventee. Hugs!  <3

@babypi I'm writing a humanities dissertation. The job market sucks so I'm fully prepared to go and do something else with my life once I defend my diss. But before I do that, I need to finish the damn thing and (hopefully) make a baby.

@stephann85 Your cookies look amazing! I'm trying to behave myself with the sugar this week and they are making my mouth water!

Fantastic Beasts.  This is an unpopular opinion, but I'm not a HP fan.  I only went because my H really wanted to see it.  I just thought it was ok.  I thought it was pretty and filmed well, but (and perhaps it's because I'm not a HP person), I thought the plot was underdeveloped.
