To make a long story short, I lost my engagement ring about a year after DH and I got married. I never had any bands. DH is now punishing me by not buying me another one. Someday I'll get one, but it's not a big deal to either of us that I don't wear anything and we have other financial priorities. If I can find a picture of my ring that I had (and loved), I'll post it. But for now, all I rock is this cute elephant ring. I'm obsessed with elephants (nursery is elephant themed too) and **TW** I bought it about a month after my loss earlier this year, so it reminds me of my angel baby.
Needs a cleaning (hasn't been done in like 4 years lol). It was a semi custom order. Appraised at twice what we paid so I'm pretty careful with it, DH would kill me if I lost it haha
DH did a good job. I wanted a single stone and a plain white gold band. The stone is a suspension setting though so it sticks way out and I'm afraid when little girl is here I'll need to take it off so it doesn't scratch her skin or catch on her clothing and wear the band alone.
The band has an engraving inside that DH was supposed to get a band to match. But we were poor so I'll be getting that for him next year for our fifth anniversary. Maybe he'll get me an anniversary band with close-set stones that I can wear instead.
It was recently cleaned but you can't tell because the sun hasn't been out for a week so there's no lighting that would show that off. Hahaha.
It's a 1/2 carat oval with two pear shaped side stones set in white gold. I'll still say DH did great, because he let me pick it out . It's perfect and I will love it without addition or modification forever. I also have a give a shout out to Shane Co jewelers for being super friendly, not pushy, and going out of their way to track down the setting I wanted in spite of it being cheaper than others I was considering. If you have a Shane Co nearby, they are awesome.
DH and I have been married for over a year and engaged for more than two and I still find myself looking at it a lot. Especially in really good lighting. Sure do love that man ❤
I'm hoping for our 5th anniversary in June that DH can put a single stone in the place of the 4 small princess cut stones! I'd like to use the 4 we would take out and have a ring or necklace made for our oldest daughter or possibly have 3 different things made for the 3 girls he picked it himself and did pretty well especially considering how young and broke we were! It's so dirty right now
I did two, just because i love the first pic from our wedding, but you can see it a little better in the second. My DH picked out the engagement ring all on his own and i love it. The band we picked together. I wanted something different.
I found this picture from the night we got engaged. 6 years ago in March. DH went to a great local jewelry store and helped design the ring, so it was just right. Not bad for a 22 year old guy. It isn't huge, since he was a young guy who used his tax return from that year. But, I have loved it every single day for almost 6 years and wouldn't change a single thing about it. My dad used my grandma's diamond in the ring that he gave her. He was a poor vet student, so it is understandable. But, he has since done very well for himself and it is a known fact that my mom would LOVE an upgrade to her hand-me-down ring. But, he thinks spending lots of money on jewelry is dumb and so he refuses. It has always been a sad subject for my mom and although she loves him and is still married to him, she doesn't even wear her ring anymore. So, when I look at my ring I think about how much my husband loves me and sacrificed and still sacrifices for me. I don't take it for granted one single day.
ETA: We got a super simple plain band to wear with it. It fits undertake stone, so it is barely noticeable. We went to the mall like a week before our wedding with pretty much no money hoping to find something. We found what I am pretty sure was supposed to be a pinky ring, but it was exactly my size. For $40 I had my wedding band.
I love how everyone's ring is so unique and beautiful! I told my then fiance at the time that I loved the emerald cut and this is what he picked out for me. I love that it's simple yet elegant. However, I never found a band that I liked with it so I just stuck with this.
Here's my super dirty pear cut ring on my chapped hands lol. I thought I wanted a square cut but when we went shopping I absolutely fell in love with this one. I still love it and I love the wedding band with tiny diamonds with it too. Still trying to decide if I want to solder them together though because they are constantly turning around. (Shout out to the pear shaped diamond @lovelongdog06!)
Fun idea! This photo was taken the night we got engaged 4 years ago. The proposal and ring were a complete surprise. DH did a great job! I call it my "Y ring", my sweet husband worked all summer at the YMCA before our senior year of college to buy it ❤️
How fun to see everyone's bling! My engagement ring is a family heirloom on my husbands side (great great grandmother). It was perfect because I always wanted a 3 stone! We were so lucky to find a wedding band that matched!
What a great idea @KirstinH88 Loving everyone's rings!
Our engagement was a surprise for me (I knew he wanted to ask eventually, but didn't think he was ready so soon), so I never even hinted at what I would like. Thankfully he knows my taste and found the perfect ring in every way. He knew I liked coloured precious stones.
The sapphire is from Sri Lanka and the diamonds on the side are from South Africa. I wanted a super simple band next to it so that it does not look too much with the stone which is massive!
Me: 35 year old FTM, a busy city banker living in London, and a constant worrier. My DH: French guy, car fanatic, best husband ever. Our baby boy: Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks. I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!! Last measurement: 3150 gs at 37+1! This is going to be a big baby
Here is my set I wanted to show the side profile as well because I absolutely love it! I want another band for our 10 year anniversary! We will see haha... They haven't been cleaned in like a year.
My ring is a family ring that DH great Aunt willed to him when he was younger. When we discussed getting a ring(our 3rd date lol) he explained he had this one but we could sell it for another but I fell in love with it! It's one of my favorite possessions!! I know it looks like a square center diamond but it's actually round. I was terrified to wear it at first for fear of losing or damaging it. It cost way way more than anything we could afford. But now I'm used to it.
@Mama5181 i totally love the sentiment!!! And the ring is beautiful too. I know what you mean, in the beginning I was like, omg- I never owned anything this expensive apart from my flat! But then you get used to it as you say.

Here's my current ring. I got it for $20 on Amazon. Haha
I was actually able to get my wedding ring on to snap a picture for you all. I wanted DH to pick mine out but he insisted that I come with him to help pick it out. I found out that we had different tastes but we found a beautiful compromise. I really wanted an emerald cut but realized just how expensive they were once we started looking. We've been married 8 1/2 years and still love it! My stone is round cut and just under a half carat.
So many gorgeous rings!!!! I literally wear only 3 pieces of jewelry. A thumb ring with turtles on it that I got when I was in the 8th grade, my wedding and engagement bands. DH did not do bad with his pick... so I decided to keep him
This is fun! You all have lovely rings. It's been years since I took a photo of my rings so this pic is a bit old. It's a princess cut engagement ring (looks round in thhe pic) and it has swirl designs with round diamonds on the outer sides. DH and I have been together 10yrs, married for 6yrs, and expecting our third child.
I finally took a photo of my ring -- and logged onto my computer (normally I'm on mobile and I don't Bump at work). Mine is a Yogo Sapphire, mined exclusively here in Montana which happens to be the first place DH and I have ever moved of our own volition (the military and work dictated everything previously). I opted to forgo a wedding band as this ring already has a lot going on. I don't know that I'll be able to fit this on my swollen hands much longer.

My engagement ring has a centre diamond with a halo of smaller diamonds around it! The picture doesn't do justice to how sparkly it is
