Re: Friday Ticker Change 12/16

  • How far along are you? 16 weeks

How big is baby? an avocado

Upcoming appointments this week? Regular appointment with my CNM on Monday.  I'm hoping she'll tell me to schedule the anatomy scan.

Any new symptoms or changes?  More of the same, but I do finally have a bump!

Rants/Raves/Questions? It's been a great week.  My department was wonderful about me announcing this week and today is my last day until 1/3!

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? Obviously I'll have to skip my Christmas Eve Becherovka hot toddy and the mimosas on Christmas day.  Christmas food is pretty much like Thanksgiving food for us, so that's yummy but not exceptionally exciting.  I'm really looking forward to Christmas eve dinner though, because that's when we do a nice piece of salmon, haluski, and pierogies.

    How big is baby? Orange

Upcoming appointments this week? 12/22 just a check up with my OB, but I scheduled my anatomy scan for 1/22.

Any new symptoms or changes?  Nada.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Looking forward to possibly feeling kicks soon!

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy?

Give me all the foods! We usually do appetizers on Christmas Eve and loose meat sandwiches (weird, I know, but so good!) and then a big meal on Christmas. I'd actually like prime rib this year with burgundy mushrooms and potatoes.
  • How far along are you?    14 weeks

How big is baby? TB said peach, but that seems large?  Am I just used to big peaches because I live so close to the SC border?

Upcoming appointments this week? Nope, not until 1/4, and that's just a quick HB check with the Doppler plus the remaining quad screen blood work.  I will schedule my AS at that appointment, probably for about 2 weeks later.  I'm less concerned about getting in there EXACTLY at 18 weeks after getting a clean report form the NIPT and NT/quad screen.

Any new symptoms or changes? I mean not really...I'm starting to look bigger I think, and I had some mild heartburn earlier in the week, but that's about it.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I really need to tell work, but my either my boss or I are out of the office for the next 2 weeks, so I don't know when I should do that really.  I guess January?  I mean it's not going to surprise anyone, but it needs to be done.  I just don't like being made a fuss over, so I don't want to be forced into doing a whole "announcement" to my 35 person team, many of whom I barely speak to.

Meanwhile...HOLY TROLLS, BATMAN.  I hope that some of the people that were all WE SHOULD START A FB GROUP RIGHT NOW like two months ago are realizing what we meant by "let's weed the Crazies out first tho."  Some people have zero perspective on life in general, and if those people are not actually trolls, I'm concerned for their ability to navigate life as adults.

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy?  MIL makes ALL OF the Christmas cookies, so I'm sure that will be a whole thing.  I remember with my first pregnancy (due date was 6 days after this one, so I was about a week less far along for Christmas that time) I doubled my weight gain between the appointment before Christmas and the one after.  Oops.  I should probably try to control myself this time around.  I'd really like to make it to my AS up 12lbs or less (my office does it at 18 weeks, but i'll probably be closer to 19 this time - with my previous pregnancy I was up 11lbs at the AS, so I'm hoping to be on track with that one if at all possible since I was happy with my overall weight gain the first time around).   Christmas will be a challenge though.  Especially since I have zero food aversions currently haha.  At least I can't drink?

    Upcoming appointments this week?
nothing until AS in mid January
    Any new symptoms or changes?
    Nope
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
We  told dh's parents a couple days ago. After finding out how far along we are, MIL immediately started talking about how you are "safe" after twelve weeks. Like, you remember that we lost a baby at 15 weeks and it was super traumatic? I said, "Well, I think we are pretty tuned in to the fact that nothing is ever a guarantee." And then she just goes on and on like "yes, but, really, nothing bad happens after this point." I think she genuinely has forgotten. It's not like she ever acknowledged it when it happened, so I guess  shouldn't expect her to now.
GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy?  We will do basically thanksgiving dinner for Christmas, which I love. We will go to my parents' place after dh is done working Christmas morning, and they don't drink anyway, so I won't miss out on that. I normally have a huge sweet tooth though that isn't so strong when I am pregnant, so hopefully I will eat less cookies than I usually do. My sil is also pregnant and has gestational diabetes, so i don't really want to be mean and eat tons of sweets in front of her anyway.

  • @ellie111227 wow, how incredibly insensitive. I'm sorry you are dealing with that.

How far along are you? 13 weeks

How big is baby? Clownfish :)

Upcoming appointments this week? Nope, had my NT scan this week which went great! Now nothing until January 10, which will just be a quick appointment with the doppler and another blood draw.

Any new symptoms or changes?  Feeling a lot better. Having some headaches and the constipation is terrible, but generally feeling much more like a normal human.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I told work this week and people are really excited which is fun, and our Christmas card announcements have gone out and one person already texted me that they got it. It feels like such a relief for the secret to go public.

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? Well I will definitely miss the red wine. Otherwise we basically do Thanksgiving for Christmas dinner, which I love so I'm excited about that. I'm sure we'll make cookies and we usually make some kind of breakfast at some point. I'm glad I'm feeling better in time for all the good food!

    13 weeks!
    How big is baby?
    a jalepeno
    Upcoming appointments this week?
Nothing til the Friday after Christmas
    Any new symptoms or changes?
Pregnancy insomnia has kicked in pretty badly. I work nights and can't sleep during the day but I can't sleep at night either. I'm also wondering if baby isn't sitting on a nerve because I'm getting a lot of lower back pain that shoots down my butt and legs when I'm at work or on my feet a lot.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Nothing that I can think of!
GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy?
Obviously I have to avoid all the alcohol. Mom and I usually have wine or sangria when we open presents. Other than that I should be able to have all our usual food! Mom and I do a baking day where we make stuffed mushrooms for all the local businesses in town (I grew up in a town of 500) and I'm looking forward to eating an insane amount of the stuffing!
  • How far along are you? 15 weeks

How big is baby? A navel orange

Upcoming appointments this week? Nothing until my 18 week appt on Jan 10th

Any new symptoms or changes?  My nausea has subsided. I'm starting to get headaches and back pains but I'm also still battling a head cold so I don't know what's related to that and what's related to pregnancy.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I work a desk job for 8-9 hours a day and I'm finding my desk chair more and more uncomfortable every day. Has anyone ever switched over to an exercise ball? Do you know if that would help? Maybe I just need to find a small pillow for better lumbar support.

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? My grandmother always makes a roast beef and yorkshire pudding on Christmas Eve. I could eat a dozen yorkshire puddings. And I will never turn down a Christmas cookie. I haven't had much of a sweet tooth lately, but I'm sure I'll make an exception.

How big is baby? A navel orange

Upcoming appointments this week? Nothing this week. My next appointment isn't till January 4th.

Any new symptoms or changes?  I've been having some episodes where I'm really dizzy/lightheaded. I actually fainted in line at Target the other day. I'm fine and baby is fine but it was definitely embarrassing. The round ligament pain has been... fun. I'm waking up pretty much every morning with a crazy headache and the pregnancy rhinitis is real. Other than that I'm feeling pretty good!

Rants/Raves/Questions? The past two days when I'm laying in bed in the mornings I'll feel a couple of... somethings. It feels kinda like a muscle twitch by my uterus. It'll only be for a minute or two and then nothing till the next morning. I woke up this morning and laid in bed for awhile playing the "is that.... movement? Or.....?" game. I'm definitely not confident enough to call it movement. It could just be a muscle twitch or something. But it's making me excited for whatever I get to the point, in a couple of weeks, where I can definitely say "oh that was a little kick!" or whatever. ETA: It's also 100% possible that what I'm feeling is literally just a muscle twitch in my uterus as my uterus expands which would, ya know, explain why it feels like a muscle twitch.

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? My husband and I are having Christmas with just the two of us for the first time ever. My OB doesn't really want me traveling since I have some things that increase blood clotting and traveling puts you at an increased risk of blood clotting. So my husband and I told my family and my in-laws that we just don't feel comfortable with me traveling so we're staying home. Everyone has been very understanding but it's going to be so strange! I doubt we'll do much to celebrate, honestly.  I might bake some cookies or try to make a somewhat special Christmas dinner but since it's just us I doubt I'll go all out. I'm really going to miss all the amazing Christmas foods.

  • @NamelessAria, that's so scary about fainting.  I'm glad you're both okay!

Re: kicks, one of the ways I determine if it's movement or not is if I feel it right around the same time each day. So maybe it is movement!
  • @delujm0
I felt the same way about the lime - I'm like, that's one of them tiny limes :)

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant- Hubby likes to steal my prenatal gummies.  I have never seen him take a vitamin in 10 years.  At least I know what to put in his Christmas stocking!

How big is baby? an avocado

Upcoming appointments this week? none until January

Any new symptoms or changes?  slight cramping but my Ob said it could be related to dehydration so I have increased my water intake

Rants/Raves/Questions? I have a rave. I went in for my 16 week check up sans ultrasound. I was a little sad I wouldn't get to see the baby. The doctor checked in with me then offered to let me know if I wanted what I was having. I looked back with my DH and we decided to find out. He scanned me and we are having a boy!

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy?  It's like a second thanksgiving at Christmas except for ham instead of turkey. I shouldn't have to avoid anything because my aversions have mostly been to chicken.

  • How far along are you?  12 weeks

    How big is baby? plum

    Upcoming appointments this week? nope

Any new symptoms or changes?  Less vomit, more headaches

    Rants/Raves/Questions? none

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? Alcohol is usually part of family holidays so that is a big no no now. But we aren't going home this year so it shouldn't be too hard.

@sarah.j.617 - I think an exercise ball could be good!  I have a job where I sit a lot and talking a few walks during the day helps, as well as stretching/standing up every hour, at least.  A supportive chair definitely helps. I use a stressless, by ekornes.

    How far along are you?
    15 weeks!

How big is baby? an apple!

Upcoming appointments this week? had the second semester blood draw yesterday, but next real appt is Jan 6th.

Any new symptoms or changes?  finally some partial relief from the nausea/vomiting with diclegis and glad to say that the constipation is easing some, yay!  more and more of a definitive bump!  having some sciatic pain too that's newer :(

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? we'll be celebrating Christmas a few times over.  I always enjoy homemade caramel pecan sticky buns.  Another favorite is smoked salmon and some of the soft cheeses, which I'll be bummed to miss out on this year.

Any new symptoms or changes?  Still feeling really tired, but starting to get an appetite back.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I wasn't feeling good at school one day and had the nurse take my blood pressure. It was high and I have never had high blood pressure in my life. So now I'm a little worried, although I'm sure it's nothing.

GTKY: If you are celebrating a holiday this month, what foods/drinks are part of your celebration that you love? Anything you have to avoid or limit our just doesn't seem as appealing because of pregnancy? Good in general still doesn't sound super great, but we do Mexican food and margaritas every Christmas. Hoping I will enjoy the tacos!
