First pregnancy

Im having a hard time finding out what to eat since im pregnant and cant find any recipes online

Re: First pregnancy

  • What do you mean? You can pretty much eat whatever you want. There are some things they recommend you don't eat like most raw meats and of course alcohol. Check out the Can I Eat That? Post for more ideas. Also if your looking online there's also posts for foods to avoid while pregnant but I've never seen recipies for pregnant women.
  • I don't know that there's any "specific" meals for pregnant women, but ideally you want to get lots of fruits, vegetables and protein and make sure you're taking a prenatal vitamin.

When I was pregnant with DD, I was obsessed with smoothies! I bought a crap ton of fresh fruit and froze it. Then I would blend vanilla Greek yogurt, calcium enriched orange juice, and a few chunks of the frozen fruit, and I'd top it with granola. Sometimes I would add peanut butter, sometimes a bit of spinach, sometimes some protein powder. It helped curb my sweet tooth! You can look up healthy smoothie recipes on pinterest.

(Sorry for the long link...) I happened to run across this book "Eating for Pregnancy" in a thrift store, and I really like it. It's a mix of information (Listeria risk, what cheeses should be avoided, healthy fats, etc.) and recipes. At the beginning of each recipe, it has a "What's in it for baby and me?" section that lists the protein, calcium, Vitamin A, and the like. What made me pull the trigger on it was the huge vegetarian section. Really yummy stuff. I don't cook out of it every day, or even most days, but I have used quite a few recipes out of it, and they have all turned out great!

  • Some days you are going to do wonderful. Some days you are gonna be proud you kept down a cracker.

  • I don't understand how this is a legit question, and how people are answering seriously. If you eat a food and it makes you sick, don't eat it again. If it doesn't make you sick eat it. Try to be healthy, that's not brain science.
  • what did you eat before you were pregnant??

  • I think what she's worried about is: not eating soft cheeses even if they're pasteurized because they are more likely to develop bacteria due to their consistency, eggs need to be fully cooked, meat with hormones and nitrates should be avoided or limited, certain fish is better than others, sodium content of some foods should be taken into consideration, Trans fats etc.  There's a lot of conflicting information out there for first time mom's and everyone is just trying to do their best and use this forum as a positive space.
  • Let's be real: a lot of people are not particularly healthy, and a lot of people don't know how to boil water.  My husband is the first person I have dated, male or female, that knows how to cook. I am the first person my husband has dated, male or female, that knows how to cook. Unfortunately, that is the society in which we live. Something huge and life-changing, like pregnancy, seems like a pretty good reason to try to make better decisions, especially in the food department. Can you blame anyone for trying to better themselves and their families?

@sehp8b Oh, you mean you should change your diet when you're pregnant but it's still ok for your husband to smoke pot around you?
I'm not in the GIF crew but I literally yelled, "OH SNAP!" out loud haha!

    Epic.
