  • @luckywife10 yay on the house! We close at the end of January but havent decided how much time we want between closing and moving out of our current place completely. You'll have to let me know how it goes!

How far along are you? 17 weeks

How big is baby? The size of a pomegranate. Wait what?!

Appointments this week? Two more weeks until the anatomy scan plus routine checkup.

Symptoms? I've been getting these mild but very annoying headaches for the last week. I can tolerate them for the most part but by late afternoon, I end up needing a tylenol so I can focus on cleaning and prepping dinner.

Rants/Raves/Questions: We are in the post inspection negotiation phase for the house were under contract for. Hopefully we hear back and that they will agree to fixing most things!

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I'm super organized, very easy going, and adaptable to changes. I get frustrated way too easily when something is just not working right, like I will tear up about it before I refocus and try to solve the problem. I think its part of my trying to be perfect personality. My mom said I would do this growing up with craft stuff lol. DH can definitely agree to that since I got this way last weekend with my dslr camera and handhels flash not doing something a certain way lol.  :#

  • @luckywife10 yay for snow days! I love them.

How far along are you? 19W (almost 1/2 way there!)

    How big is baby? Mango

Appointments this week? A/S this coming Tuesday

Symptoms? Some fatigue and uncomfortable sleep

Rants/Raves/Questions: DS1 had his very first Christmas program last night. I thought he might get a little stage fright but he had no problems singing loud for all to hear.

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I am loyal, funny, and a problem solver. My weakest trait is definitely my impatience and all my family would agree on that. I am trying so hard to work on that because I see both my boys starting to pick that up as well.

    11.2011 - DS1

    02.2013 - loss at 6 wks

    06.2014 - DS2

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

    03.2017 - DD

  • How far along are you? 16 weeks...it seems to be going by quickly!

How big is baby? Avocado! Have to remember to take a bump picture this week!

Appointments this week? Nothing until the 21st, and then an anatomy scan on the 30th

Symptoms? The lower back pain on my right side has been consistent all week. Makes it hard to bend down.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Last week I told my work about the pregnancy and she asked me if it was planned...I thought it was rude! I didn't really process the question in the moment, but now that I think about it I can't get over how ridiculous it was of her to ask.

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I am pretty weird, and I think that is okay -when I was little I wanted to be a mycologist (one who studies mushrooms). I also had an obsession with marshes and swamps. I think I am empathetic and I have a warm, calming demeanor (so I've been told). My weakest is that I can be a doormat at times, and I really need to work on saying no and not apologizing for it.
  • How far along are you?  16 Weeks

    How big is baby? Avocado

Appointments this week? Not until January 3- Anatomy Scan

    Symptoms? Fatigue- extreme emotions

Rants/Raves/Questions: This week the Doctors determined the by 5 yo DD likely has a genetic neurological disorder. While she has no complications now she likely will when she is older. This has been hard for me to handle especially knowing if it indeed is genetic (it could be a random mutation) there is a 50% our other DD or this baby could have it. This has really consumed my thoughts along with some work stress and we haven't prepared at all for Christmas. I am HIGHLY considering taking a mental health day out of work tomorrow just so I can get caught up. Rave- my family, coworkers, and DH have all been awesome and super supportive and understanding. Also my Birthday was Monday so I got overly spoiled!

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I believe your greatest strength can be also your greatest weakness. I am typically very empathetic, loyal, and typically optimistic. However, I often put other feelings above my own and I am very self-conscious/ anxious.
  • How far along are you? 16 weeks

    How big is baby? Avocado!

Appointments this week? Had one today that was quick. The nurse found the heartbeat as soon as she touched the doppler down. Scheduled my 20 week anatomy scan for early Jan.

Symptoms? Not really! I'm in a sweet spot.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Employee rant. One of my employees showed me a snapchat video of another employee smoking inside the building. We're a dog daycare, so that's immensely inappropriate. I had to discipline her, but I honestly wanted to ask wtf she was thinking, sharing that online? Really??

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? This is a fun one! I'd say my three strongest are being independent, empathetic, and my sense of humor. A weakness is my inability to communicate in my personal life. I think everyone close to me (especially my husband) would agree with that last one. I tend to bottle my emotions. I don't know, however, if people can tell how much I care about things. I feel very strongly about people and situations around me, and feel that I can put myself into anyone's shoes to understand their feelings, but I'm a pretty quiet, stoic person, so that may not come across. This actually reminds me of a personality test that completely describes me. I'll have to start a post for it, because I think it's really fascinating.
  • @MamaMiller I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's neurological disorder. Sending positive thoughts your way.
  • @MamaMiller I'm sorry about your daughter. Sounds like you have a wonderful support system. I'm so glad.

@starphish18 We are the same! I could have wrote your GTKY.
  • How far along are you? 18 weeks

How big is baby? the size of a sweet potato!

Appointments this week? I had my regular check up on Tuesday. It was a pretty uneventful appointment, but that's not a bad thing! I heard baby's heart beat and I also had blood drawn for the AFP test (spina bifida screening) since that's the one other thing that the Harmony Test didn't screen for. It came back negative so that's great news! My next appointment is next week on Thursday for my anatomy scan!

Symptoms? I'm feeling more normal lately! I'm down to 3 Diclegis and will try to go down to 2 just at bedtime next week. Hopefully, my nausea will disappear entirely soon. It's certainly much better than a few weeks back!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? Conscientious, independent, and adventurous are my strongest and I'd like to think family and friends would agree! I would say being impulsive in some aspects of my life would be a weakness. DH kind of balances me there because he considers things for a REALLY long time before making decisions. :)

  • @MamaMiller - I'm sorry about the neurological disorder diagnosis. Is this something that they can screen for now that they are aware of it?

  • 19 weeks today...mango...Ultrasound today...having a girl!  Ready to start feeling her a little bit more! She was very active on screen today & kept scooting away from the Doppler while trying to find hb at doctor's office last week, but I barely feel her.
  • @MiaQuiche84- I've never understood why people think it is ok to ask that. It's none of your business!!!

@MamaMiller - I'm sorry about your daughter. I'll be sending good thoughts your way!

How far along are you? 19 weeks

    How big is baby? mango

Appointments this week? I've got one on Tuesday. It's the anatomy scan. We already know we're expecting a girl, but it will be nice to get to see her little face.

Symptoms? My hair is falling out in chunks! I've talked to my doctor about it repeatedly, and he keeps telling me that hair loss is cyclical and not to worry, but I don't think he gets it. I'm going to bring it up again this week, along with the continued exhaustion, and hopefully he stops brushing me off. I've seriously got little bald spots forming, as if I'm already postpartum!!

Rants/Raves/Questions: This has been a really long week, but I'm hoping it ends with good news. I work for a small Oil & Gas company, who develops acreage and then sells it. Bids were due this week, and if all goes well, my equity in the company is enough to buy a new car, pay off my student loans, and maybe take a year off work to bond with this tiny tot. I likely won't know for sure until next month, but I'm just happy to be done with this week.

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I'm organized, a good leader and loyal. My weakest is definitely my impatience. I don't mind mine leading someone, but I do mind babysitting the crap out of them to get them to produce work.

  • Thank you all for the love. The disorder she likely has can affect her nervous system. Some people live a life with very little/ no impact were others can have pretty devastating/ fetal impact. Currently it has been pretty minimal and may have just small affects on gross motor skills. Unfortunately for this current pregnancy the only way to determine the risk is through an amnio- which we won't do. The disorder can cause very distinct birth marks so we will be keeping an eye for them to develop the first few years of this babies life. Thankfully we have a great support and live very close to one of these best clinics in the country. The big reason why I feel compelled to share is I had concerns with DD from birth. I continued to bring my concerns up to her Doctors and it wasn't until a new Doctor and her five year old check up that they agreed that we should see some specialist. Trust your mama gut- when something doesn't seem right even if it is minor- it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.
  • Forgive me for being so late. I keep missing these. :-) Next week (i.e. in two days) hopefully I'll remember, as it will be on the same day as my next check-up.

How far along are you? 18w

How big is baby? a sweet potato, apparently

Appointments this week? I have an appointment on Thursday, when I turn 19 weeks. I also scheduled my anatomy scan for a week after that. We'll be telling the kids of the pregnancy soon after the anatomy scan.

Symptoms? SPD is slowly getting worse. I sometimes limp around, especially if I've been sitting a while. Overnight has been uncomfortable, though I have not had as much insomnia recently, at least (probably because I'm just overly sleep deprived in general, though!)

Rants/Raves/Questions: There's a bunch of drama at work that I can't get into here, but it affects me a lot for next semester and possibly after that, and it is affecting me right now as I'm spending time on negotiating the outcomes of it all. I don't like that it's messing up the end of my semester as well as the holiday season / family.

GTKY: What are your three strongest personality traits? And a weakest? Would your friends and family say the same about you? I'm pretty easy-going/calm and optimistic, and I'm naturally a kind-hearted person who will tend to see where people are coming from. So I can also be a peace-maker, helping others see where people are coming from. My weakest trait could be that I'm hugely disorganized and a mess. I thank my lucky stars every single day for DH, because he is naturally organized and neat. He does that work for the both of us and puts up with me even though mess stresses him out.

I think my friends and family would probably say the same of me. Though when I've done some questionnaire on this (the johari window, I believe), a lot of people said I'm smart instead of listing some of the positives I stated. I'm highly educated (Ph.D.) but that says more about my privilege than intelligence. I don't think I'm much smarter than the average person, if at all.
