Re: PGAL Chek-In Week of 12/12

  • How far along are you? 13 weeks 6 days

How are you doing?  My PGAL brain has calmed down a lot since gettng the NIPT results. We announced on FB last week and I am beginning to feel more like this is real. My doppler has also been a lifesaver and it is becoming very easy to find her heartbeat quickly these days.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? 12/27  I am looking forward to actually looking pregnant, and also to start feeling movement.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  Nothing I can think of!

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.
I have naturally curly hair and I went through so many years of trying to straighten it and having poofy, messy, frizzy hair. I look at pictures and cringe. I still struggle with it, but hair products and tools have come a long way since I was in high school...I really could have used a good flat iron...

First time posting in the June '17 PGAL check in? Introduce yourself

Hello ladies. My PGAL brain has made me reluctant to join in on any group conversations or to even introduce myself. I had a twin loss earlier this year after trying for 3+ years. With that pregnancy,  I was quite active on my BMB just to have to walk away. I did not throw myself into this board (or anything else pg related)  just in case it all went wrong.. Though I am still nervous every day,  I am very relieved and grateful to have made it this far.

How far along are you? 11w5d (due 6/28)

How are you doing? overall, I'm ok. My heartburn is killer, I'm nauseous a good portion of the day and tired ALL of the time. But I promised myself that when I got pregnant, I would not complain and would embrace every inconvenience and ailment that came along with it. Still, I am praying some  symptoms begin to subside in the next couple weeks.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? My next appt is this Thurs for my NT scan. I was spoiled by weekly ultrasounds from my RE, so I'm looking forward to seeing the baby; but bummed this will be the last one until around week 20. Also, I'm going home for Xmas. and I hope I'm sporting a noticeable bump when I go.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: NIPT tests can me back low risk and that I'm having a girl !!! I'm thrilled & proud of my lil lady for holding on strong!

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice. oh my! I had so many! But one I was thinking of the other day was in the late 90s and women thought it was cool to wear baggy clothes (shudders). I would borrow my bf's clothes and they'd be hanging off of me. & It looked ridiculous.
  • @MKRLTX Glad to hear you're able to relax a bit and enjoy!! The Doppler truly is a huge help over here too!

How far along are you?  13w2d

How are you doing? I'm doing ok. Getting anxious. We have an ultrasound next week to check on the bleed I had at 8 weeks, and I'm just a mess about it. PGAL brain has me just worried sick about losing one or both of the babies. Ugh.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?  Ultrasound on Monday. I'm excited, but very anxious at the same time. It's the big milestone for me, second trimester, and actually seeing them, happy and wiggling around.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Rave for my doula/close friend. I had another mutual friend of ours make me a pregnancy mala, and my doula sneakily had her make me a matching bracelet. She gets me!

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.
Oh dear. At 18 I wore too much eyeliner, dyed my hair jet black but had blonde eyebrows. Not my finest year!
  • I love these updates! Ps, I'm always mobile, so please excuse my poor formatting.

. Hey, you probably remember me. I lost my son at 37w4d last year, as a stillbirth. We don't know why. I also have a four year old daughter.

How far along are you? 13w2d

How are you doing? Tired. Itchy. Nauseous. Cranky as crap.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? I'm looking forward to my anatomy scan and my blood work coming back. The extra shitty part about late loss is that you don't have a safe time where you feel relieved and past the danger zone. I cry every time I hear the heartbeat.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice. In high school my makeup was ghastly and cakey. Not great.

It's been a while since I've actually posted my own update, but I've been checking in with you guys. I had one MC in January at 8 weeks, and have a 4yo (almost 5
  • Ugh. I typed my whole post twice, and all that will show up is above

  • How far along are you?  12 weeks 5 days

How are you doing? Good. Made it past all my milestones so I think we might actually be taking home a baby in June.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? Regular OB appointment on Dec 29th. But getting excited for our fun ultrasound on Jan 7th. I have to have a level 2 ultrasound instead of a regular anatomy scan, and it's at a hospital over an hour away. DH has to stay with the kids so we want to be together when we find out if we are team blue or pink!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I finally don't have morning sickness OR a stomach virus. It's the first time since October I feel human again!!

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.

When I was younger I was a cheerleader, and we HAD to curl our pony tails. Well my hair hated to hold curls. So I begged my mom for a perm...a tight horrible curls perm. Of course my hair wouldn't hold that either so after about a week it was half curled, half straight. I was a hot mess.

  • How far along are you? 13 weeks 4 days

How are you doing? I tried seabands to help with the nausea and to say for the most part they worked. But still having some nausea/gagging, wrestless sleeping like im fighting with the pillows and blankets and get tangled up lol. Been having a hard time eating, i know i need to eat and want to eat but nothing is appealing to me. Started having pelvic pain which i didnt have till thrid trimester with dd and ill get these sharp pains if i stand to quickly or move to quickly or when i was carrying my dd.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?
Next appt im not sure havent heard from my midwife so im going to have to call and see when im suppose yo be having an appt. Milestone i can't wait to start feeling movements and to know what this little bean is, but i really just want to hear the heartbeat and see the little thing, i have wanted to purchase a doppler but just dont have extra funds.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  i guess just rave my husband has been amazingly awesome towards me and understanding how i am feeling, hes been super helpful with cleaning and taking care of our dd when he has been home and im so appreciatave of him snd his help. This pregnancy hasn't been as bad as my first was but its definitely been hard specially when hes gone for work.

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.

When i was really young i thought it would be good to get a short short hair cut well after doing it i completely regretted it as everyone said i looked like a boy. I didnt learn there though one year after growing my hair out for awhile i decided i needed to chopp it off and cut it like a shorter bob and well it just doesn't look good for my face shape. I always get this urge to cut my hair short that i ahve to stop and remind myself you're going to regret this!

@awoodruff27 I am not sure if I understood what you were saying about finding out the sex - can't tell if you will or will not find out since DH won't be there. But if you want to be together, you can do what we have down both times which is bring a card that you create that has whatever you want in it but then has a spot that says BOY and GIRL and you just ask the tech to circle the correct one but to not say anything to you during the u/s. In both of ours, we also asked them to put the "money shot" pic in the card, as well. The techs were great sports about it both times and we had a lot of fun opening with our family. We are going to do that again this time.

    How are you doing?
Nerves ramping up because I have an appointment today and PGAL brain going haywire so worried that they won't be able to find a heartbeat (and that's even with my rave below!). I feel so not pregnant most of the time that it contributes to my worries. However, my belly is definitely growing, so there's that.
UPDATE: All went well at my appointment - hb of 154bpm, thank God!

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?
This morning. After today I plan to tell work and then do a FB announcement to the world and that definitely feels like a milestone.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Rave: I *think* I might have felt movement yesterday. I was a very distinct feeling in the very front of my belly that lasted for about 20 seconds. I wouldn't swear on my life, but my instincts told me it was baby. I looked back in my pregnancy books for my first two pregnancies and I noted very slight flutters around week 16 with both so either I just really know the feeling in my third pregnancy, or it's gas I am mistaking for movement. I don't care, though. Anything that helps me think positive thoughts makes me happy!
Also, Positive vibes for my appointment today, please!

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.
In middle school I wore Girbaud baggy jeans and Mossimo baggy shirts daily. It was such a masculine look and I was never masculine. I didn't have any style inclination so I was just wearing what everyone else was, including the boys, lol.

How are you doing? My nausea has been infrequent (knock on wood). I'm really just tired all the time but toss and turn all night.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? I'm looking forward to feeling the baby move. I'm not sure when this would typically happen though? Also, my stomach is very round lately but it looks like I just over ate so I'd be cool with showing more already. I'm just not ready to shop for new pants.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I don't know if it's because I have some time off from work this week or I woke up on the right side of the bed but I'm feeling a lot more confident about this pregnancy this week than I have previously. Last week I had a lot of highs and lows letting the bad thinking get the best of me. I just need to keep reminding myself that it's out of my control and live in the moment.

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.  I used to wear very heavy eye make up in high school. Not cute.

Best of luck to the ladies with appointments this week!

  • @JAGinMI sorry I wrote that pre coffee. Basically we are doing a elective ultrasound on Jan 7th to find out the sex. I do have my anatomy scan end of July but it's at a high risk Drs office and from what I've heard they only tell you the sex 50% of the time. With it being a more "serious" dr they are just more focused on the anatomy part. Which is fine by me. I'm going because my youngest has a heart defect, so I want them to focus on that.

How are you doing? Ok. Feeling a bit better, but incredibly anxious for my NIPT results (NT bloodwork showed some abnormal hormone levels which has made my likelihood of chromosomal abnormalities much higher than we'd like). I was originally told they'd be in sometime between last Friday and today (Tuesday), so it's been a rough wait.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? Just waiting for the results - assuming it comes back that everything is ok, I'll feel better telling a few more folks.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Not pregnancy related, but a random older woman on the street shrieked at DD last night outside of daycare. DD was being difficult and sat down on the sidewalk, and this woman found it necessary to just start yelling at her to get up. It was absolutely awful. I yelled back (to tell her to stop yelling at DD), and then one of my friends saw what was happening and came over. I was in tears, and DD kept saying "That lady should not have yelled at us. It was not nice." Precisely NOT what I needed.

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice. I definitely owned too many flannel shirts in high school.

    How far along are you?

    13 weeks, 5 days

    How are you doing?

I have an appointment coming up so I'm getting nervous. We had a great ultrasound at 11 weeks but I am getting worried that something is going to be wrong. I have no reason to think that. I feel good. It looks like I'm getting a real bump so I think things are growing in there. But still.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?

I have an appointment on Thursday. We've only seen the heartbeat so far, not heard it. I'm hoping they try and find it with the Doppler this time.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes

I've been feeling a lot better. My nausea has really subsided. I've got some energy back. I've been getting some brutal headaches though. I feel like once we get to hear the heartbeat this week again I will settle down.

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.

I had some really bad eyebrows for a while. Way over plucked. It has taken quite a while to get them to a normal place. Now I barely touch them.

    How are you doing?
I'm doing well. From time to time PGAL brain kicks in and I start to worry. I wish I could hear the heartbeat before my next appointment.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? December 28  :/

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I threw my phone away yesterday, looked for it all over, told DH to check our room bag which he had already thrown out and there it was!

I'm on the over plucked eyebrows train. I cringe looking back at pictures! Also I was a huge fan of the shirts with sayings on them (i.e. Flirt, Cutie, Heartbreaker)

Next appointment is January 4, after that my anatomy scan is January 12 and hoping we can stay strong to team green.  Also looking forward to movement!
    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Just staying positive.  As the weeks keep passing by with good news I am really getting hopeful I will have a baby in my arms come end of May/early June.

I thought it was so cute to wear the least amount of clothing possible.  My mom let me wear whatever and my dad just kept his mouth shut.  I look at pictures and just shake my head.

How are you doing? I pulled a muscle on the lower left side of my back and it hurts like hell to stand/walk.  Going on a week now so I'm hoping it calms down soon!  My nausea is going strong in the afternoons from 2pm til I fall asleep.  Boo!  But at least it gives me piece of my mind.
We're announcing to friends and family Christmas Eve and I honestly can't believe that after 5 pregnancies we actually get to celebrate with our families!  Our parents already know but we're announcing gender as well which they don't know yet so everyone gets a little extra Christmas surprise.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? Jan 3rd for MASFP blood work and a quick listen to baby on the doppler.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I hope everyone is doing well, what a roller coaster these last couple months have been!!

Ditto to the frizzy curly hair. Nobody showed me what a hair straightener was and how to use it until college. WHY?! Also, I used to wrap a piece of sewing fabric around my waist and wear it as a skirt. To school. My mother tried to stop me, but I wouldn't listen.

How are you doing? These daily headaches are irritating, and the tenderness in my boobs is starting to come back. But other than that, I'm keeping the PGAL brain at bay.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to? Next appointment is Thursday morning, I can't wait to hear our little girls heartbeat again!

I'm always late to this post!  I'm Carrie.  I miscarried in May.  In November, at 6 weeks, I was told that this pregnancy was not viable.  When I hadn't miscarried by 10 weeks, I went in to check what was going on, and they found a baby!

    How far along are you?
    12 weeks 1 day

    How are you doing?
Better - nausea is less frequent, still exhausted.  I had an appointment yesterday, and baby is growing and right on track!!  We're still amazed.

Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?
My next appointment is Jan. 9th.  I'm anxiously waiting on the results of my NIPT.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
I just still feel so overwhelmed by this whole experience.  It almost feels like an unplanned pregnancy since we spent close to a month coming to terms with a loss and accepting that our family of 4 is complete.  We're very excited, but sometimes I feel like it's too good to be true and something bad is going to happen.  I hope the results from the NIPT will help put my mind at ease.

GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.
Overalls.  They were just not a good choice for me!
  • @cmread Glad to hear about your good appointment. I hear you about the "too good to be true" - we got pregnant immediately after a chemical pregnancy, so it's just now (with low risk NIPT results) feeling real. Hang in there - when will your results be in?

  • Thanks @c1tym0m22!  Results should be in by early next week.  :)

  • Freaking out right now. Just woke up to pee and there was some pink blood when I wiped. Not a lot, but there is no logic that will make me feel okay about any amount of blood. I have never had any amount of blood during a healthy pregnancy. I will be calling my doctor today, and they will tell me I don't need an appointment, but I will be getting an appointment. Thanks for listening.
  • @mrt hopefully it's nothing. I've been told and read that just a little pink isn't a big deal, but I would be doing the EXACT same as you, being worried and getting an appointment because it's emotionally and mentally challenging being PGAL. I really hope they are understanding, get you in quickly, and are able to determine everything is fine. I'll be thinking of you and wishing for the best.
  • @mrt thinking of you this morning and hoping it is just nothing.  I hope they don't give you issues being seen.  Keep us posted!

  • @mrt sending lots of love. I've had 2 of my 3 pregnancies to get this far experience pink spotting. I absolutely get it though. I freaked out, and went into my ultrasound expecting the worst. Hoping you can get in this morning or afternoon, let us know!
  • @mrt Sorry you're dealing with this.. I would push for an appointnent, or at the very minimum settle for a conversation with your OB. Keep us posted.
  • @mrt Stay strong...sending you all the best thoughts

  • @mrt Good luck! If your blood type is Rh negative, also might be worth asking your doc if a Rhogam shot is necessary (I'm Rh neg, and my ob has let me know I would need one if I have anything spotting - just to be overly cautious!)

    How far along are you?

    How are you doing?
Eating alright but abdominal stretching is really annoying in every way. I feel like I'm already really uncomfortable and all of my mom friends laugh at me because I have no idea how uncomfortable I will be in the third trimester.
Next appointment? Or, alternatively, next milestone you're looking forward to?
    January 3rd.

Rave: I accepted a job offer today! I spoke with someone about being pregnant before accepting and they were super supportive. Timing looks like it will work out for the office alright, summer being the slowest time for client appointments. This is my first job in a finance capacity and I'm so excited. Goodbye nonprofit work, hello respectable paycheck. The commute is going to be super annoying but I'll get more exercise in the next couple months than in the past 6 what with walking to and from buses and trains. In May and June, I may end up driving or taxiing, depending on what is possible.
GTKY: I'm pretty sure we have all made style choices that we look back on and wonder "WTF was I thinking???", so tell us about the most embarrassing thing you used to wear or do with your hair and/or makeup, or whatever other style choice.
I had zero style sense until maybe my second year of college. Luckily I had four years of Catholic school uniforms, and dress up days with church clothes, that I did ok with. Some of the tragedies included long long sleeved ts with matching leggings of the 90s, long long hair, Laura Ashley jumper over a red turtleneck, (you know matching mother daughter clothes that resemble couch material), denim skirt with softball t-shirt... Thank God for college friends who like to go shopping. I don't know how I learned to dress myself.

Congrats @mrt. Glad everything is going well. Welcome again to the women who were scared to post in first trimester. Congrats on getting to this point.

  • @mrt So glad they got you in! What a great comfort to see baby wiggling all around and a wonderful bonus surprise of finding out the sex! I'm so happy everything worked out!

@lizerspitz congrats on the new job!!

Have you thought about a really steep a-line bob?
