I am not but I have a 2 year year with a GIANT list. She is IGE to peanut, tree nuts, egg, milk, sesame, shellfish, sea salt and FPIES to milk, beef, green beans, and peas.
We are still learning and I am TERRIFIED (but so excited) for #2 as theres high chances this baby will have it too.
Yup, lots of food allergies over here, @isaccsrib2005! Allergic to several raw nuts like almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts, plus honey, raw cherries and avocados. Also lactose intolerant and get terrible stomach pains when I eat bananas. Woooo! (*insert sarcasm*).
Just curious. Sometimes if there are others going through a similar experience it can be nice to know others are in the same boat. I was just curious if there are other Aug 17 mamas who have that struggle so we could encourage each other on our journey. With food allergies one has to be more creative to make food appealing. Sometimes it's hard not being able to eat what others have. It's similar to FTM's, those with GD, single moms, those who have lost babies through MC or stillbirth or perhaps those with blended families. Only those with your experience can really understand where you are coming from. Here's to healthy pregnancies and births for all of us, no matter our situation. :-)
@isaccsrib2005 Yeah! It can definitely be difficult navigating around allergies. A lot of mine developed during adulthood so I'm hoping I grow out of them sometime. I'm glad you're aware of yours!
I have a lot of autoimmune type of allergy symptoms. The older I get, the more I bust out in hives. Haven't had any anaphylaxis but got close when I had a bite or sting in the threat. Haven't done food testing and somehow passed the environmental ones (doc disagrees), but my mom, twin, niece (outgrew dairy allergy), and nephew (dairy and soy) all have and have quite a few including non-food items like Band-aid adhesives, PABA in sunscreens, etc. For me, eating + pressure (like leaning on a table) + stress = very hot, itchy wheals. I have pretty big issues with gluten (passed that biopsy) and have gone mostly dairy free. Diagnosed with gastritis due to h. Pylori treatment on top of GERD. Eating and drinking aren't as fun as they used to be. Here's the bloated belly on my honeymoon in August. I used to be a college athlete and did not have a belly at all. I was about 120 lbs. in this pic!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I am not, but am still breastfeeding my 13 mo old who is sensitive to dairy, corn, and egg. Because of that, I follow a limited diet. I am nervous about nutrition this time, especially while dealing with nausea. a bright side- DS has recently outgrown sensitivities to sweet potato and avocado!
@NYTino24--Yep, mine are autoimmune related too. Gluten is a total no-no for me. I tested neg. for celiac but I get very sick with even a little. My autoimmune is RA but there is hope that diet and stress management are two major keys for remission. This is my goal and so far I have avoided the meds. :-)
Re: GTKY--food allergies anyone?
